  1. Is there a way to specify the structure of an orbit waypoint? ie direction (clock;anti-clock) width. please :)
  2. same here. happens a bit earlier and several times. it seems to be when the LSO transmits.
  3. thanks razor. I pretty much agree, it seems to make sense but, as you imply, if it's worthwhile then they would be doing it, I guess. maybe any beneficial effect is not worth the added complexity. thanks again.
  4. Sorry I should have said ‘drifting to the left w.r.t the angled deck’ Pardon my physics upbringing. (I’m drifting to the left of the angled deck/angled deck is drifting to my right. You pays your money and you takes your choice.) But I’m mainly interested in my ambient wind question. To whit ‘can the carrier sail sufficiently across the ambient wind to generate a counter crosswind which will match the ‘apparent’ crosswind generated by the angled deck moving at an angle along the ship’s heading?’ e.g. the ship sails due north at 20knts. This generates an apparent perpendicular wind (w.r.t.) the angled deck of 20xsin9degrees. If the ambient weather has a wind coming from due north at 20 knots then a ‘counter’ crosswind can be generated by sailing the ship (I think) 18 degrees to starboard. Is this correct, nonsense or doesn’t make a damn? Pretty please :)
  5. I've been practising case iii and noticed that if I get on track and then point the plane at the orange laser, I always drift off to the left. I then realised that this is because, approaching the angled deck there is a generated crosswind (carrier speed times sin9° I think) (I should have realised this before... Duh) My question during recovery is:- should the ship sail slightly to the right of any prevailing winds to help counter this crosswind? (Obviously wouldn't help in zero wind) Please. 6. sounds nearly perfect. I'll give it a shot. many thanks. :)
  7. I'm trying to set up a facility to have a tanker waiting on a cat until I request tanker via a radio signal. Is there a way to do this? pretty please (I was hoping to have the tanker sitting on the cat at start of mission, ie not using the late activation option) :)
  8. thanks! I followed the correct procedure. it's a long time since I used walleye, I guess they tightened up on DDI procedures since then. :)
  9. oopsi my bad I didn't realise I hadn't posted the details of the problem. after locking a walleye onto a target using the datalink pod, I launched the walleye but the data link no longer worked to direct the bomb. sorry I didn't post those details. :(:music_whistling:
  10. I used to get this working. Can't seem to anymore. Usually it's something dumb i'm doing wrong, please help track attached. :) walleye fail.trk
  11. thanks everyone. :)

    BUNO

Just out of interest what is 'BUNO i65607' on the right dash panel? :)
  13. ok that would make sense... but the needles only line up and guide when the correct course is set on the HSI. my point is that the ILS needles should line up no matter what course is set on the HSI. it's no big deal to dial up the course for the runway selected, it's just that I like to understand the correct fundamental principles. thanks anyway.
  14. I know I'm being thick, but why do I need to dial in the runway course for ILS? Shouldn't ILS only line up on the correct runway course? I understand for TACAN the course dial will give you an early aid to runway lineup, but ILS should bring only you to the correct lineup. sorry for being thick :(
  15. Apparently Comms is not available for A-4. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk
  16. A-4E sorry didn't know where to put this. I'm trying to do an air-to-air refuel but I can't seem to get my radio to work. pressing comms menu does nothing. What am I doing wrong? please help
  17. problem solved. it was the key setting in Logitech programmer. the key was set to 'fallback' whatever that means instead of 'unprogrammed' thanks for advice guys. :)
  18. That's what it looks like. if I remove the button binding to the fuel cap entirely, the problem goes away. thanks any ideas to cure the problem, or do i just live with it, as now i know the problem it's not so annoying anymore. :)
  19. Ok was attempting to create tracks. couldn't succeed, with simple tracks, the autopilot engaged without problems. so did what I was doing when problem occurred. this was air-refuelling. after small refuelling I quit the mission and used the 'fly again' option. sure enough the problem recurred. this time though I noticed that at the start of the 'subsequent' mission the refuelling gate was open. turns out that autopilot would not engage when the refuelling gate was open. when I closed the gate autopilot worked fine. don't know if this is meant to be, but at least for the moment I've cured the problem. I will investigate further. and report back. (FYI refuelling gate was controlled via SW5 on my X-56 throttle.) ed looks like this is my problem. because I've been doing regular A-10 tanking practice at each DCS startup, I've left the refuelling gate open. DCS 'remembers' this so that any subsequent mission in the A-10 the gate is still open. when I close the gate autopilot function returns.
  20. at the moment every startup of DCS I can fly A-10 missions without problem. but once I've engaged the autopilot, in any mode, in subsequent A-10 missions I cannot engage autopilot. to enable autopilot again requires a DCS restart. (same thing occurs with PAC-1) . both commands were bound to my X-56 hotas. but even starting DCS with 'autopilot' and 'pac-1' as keyboard only commands I get the same problem. Not sure if it's my fault or not, please help.
  21. Thanks for all the encouragement guys. I watched every youtube video I could. All very helpful, but the one that cracked it for me was Cap's from grim reapers. Big thanks to him. tusker, keep at it, you'll get there.
  22. Finally put more fuel in than burned lining up. Needs more practice. [emoji2957] Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk
  23. please help I figure you guys will be the best help. my X-56 just arrived. opened the box - no instructions. how do I set up the joystick? I don't want to do something daft and break it. :helpsmilie: throttle is installed and I've started working on the switches. throttle quadrant is very stiff, can I slacken it? please help but it does look good. :)
