You could also copy paste the Russian text into Google translate but like Robo said, I found it much faster to just toggle them on/off and rename them myself.

Awesome, did you make a thread on your modification? It sounds like a cool project. -
Update to Dora Pre-Purchase Annoucement

Probably the best "Be careful what you wish for" example I have seen in a while. -
"Excuse me, good morning... I just want to know if you support the military..." ROFML Ha Ha I think mine would reach for a hammer to destroy my computer if I pulled something like that on her... That's another trick I use as well. I still haven't come up with a way to convince her that our two boys will need lessons when they're old enough. Luckily I got some years to think about it... Now I suppose if I had to choose, assuming you already own the P-51, I would want a worthy adversary like the 190 or 109 to match it. Given the 190 will be released first I would probably grab her. My next choice would be really hard because no amount of rational logic could decide it for me. If I had to break it down to an emotional level I would have to go with the P-47. This is just my american bias coming out but on that level I am most excited for the jug out of all the others (second to the mustang of course).

I have to agree, I think I would pick them in the order they come out then buy the rest. Except like Sith said this could be potential grounds for a dee-vorce. Thats when I would try to calmly explain that each module is less than a tank of gas and I ride my bike to work :D . Whatever you married men do, I don't suggest you take inspiration from the guy who got busted for purchasing a Pay-Per-View WWE Event :megalol:

OR... do as we do in Portland, make some beer and chalk it up as "angel's share"

This reminded me of another video I saw recently.
-
I think it just got easier for them since only the $120 and up are getting alphas and they already get every plane. I don't know the exact number but I think everyone who was going to get an alpha 190 before was quite a bit more than the just the $120+ backers who will be getting it now.
-
fair enough I think people will be more than pleased with that news.
-
That's great then, just they way the new structure appears the 262 looks like an added perk once you get above the $120 level. It didn't much matter to me but loosing the alpha access kind of bummed me out but if it is to be anything like the proposed 190 alpha release the full version won't be that far behind the alpha.
-
Thanks Sith. That's disappointing to me but so it is. I will also assume I will not be able to choose the 262 as one of my 5 aircraft. c'est la guerre
-
yep ^^this... and is also appears with this new structure that the ME 262 is not considered one of the 5 selectable aircraft. Which is all fine but I would just like to see a little more clarification.
-
Can some one confirm if we still get module alpha access if we are below the $120 level? The new update doesn't mention the Alpha anymore unless you are $120 and up. Is that a Normandy alpha or what? just need a little more clarification. Thanks,
-
Thanks for this update! I just have a few questions. Per the changes listed it appears that the aircraft alpha access has been removed for anyone below the 120 level. can this be confirmed? and is the ME 262 considered a separate entity now and not eligible as one of the 5 selectable aircraft? Edit: typo iphone auto correct words

Nice video Double D, you guys are looking good!

Good on her! I have to agree sharing is caring ;) Not because I was raised well (which I would argue I was) but because I have no idea what it takes to produce something like this and all I want is to use it for my own benefit with as little investment from myself as possible :D oops that came out way wrong, actually I too completely understand why some choose to withhold their hard work from others but I also know it's nice to feel appreciated once in a while. On one hand VTA could have a monopoly on the only B-17 in DCS (for a while) which will bring them lots of positive attention, on the other hand if it goes public everyone will love you but not everyone will be as interested in your shows perhaps. besides I imagine the work involved in creating a damage model and AI turret gunners is quite a bit compared to a basic AI model that could be used strictly for acrobatic purposes. Either way best of luck to all those involved with the project, please keep us updated!
-
Or something to defend in the P-51 :) This might be a dumb questions but its not exactly clear to me. Was the initial goal to create an AI mod to release for the public or is it more of an in house thing?
-
Looks great! With the recent development of DCS taking over for RRG is there any connection between this project and wags comment about adding an AI B-17? :music_whistling:
-
I've looked at your stuff before Sith, it looks awesome! Call me an optimist but I'm betting you could do it quicker you just need to give up your real life!
-
Ha Ha yep we need this plane... Just need to put this plan into action now!

Giving your Sided Winder Force Feedback 2 Steroids
Whiplash replied to Whiplash's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I might be misunderstanding you again and its probably because I have never played blackshark before, but by setting the trimmer to full travel are you saying that you are essentially setting it to the default axis tune setting without any adjustments to the saturation or curves? By adding the bump stop to my stick and re-calibrating it I was able to effectively reduce the displacement of the stick while maintaining a 100% input travel to the sim all the while my axis are tuned to their default setting in DCS. -
That was the first thought that came to my mind after reading the title of this thread.

Ah I think I get what you are saying. So to test your question I made a simple bumper stop on my stick to reduce the overall throw. Then I calibrated the stick using the generic controller settings in windows and it appear to re-calibrate correctly to the new bumper. Not sure if this is similar to what you were thinking. If you try to reduce the throw too much then it would probably be a good idea to upgrade to some kind of hall effect sensor that would increase the precision and resolution of the axis. -

I have to agree. You could take a mod like this to an extreme, and I certainty wouldn't use the components in something like a real plane but unless you are particularly violent while handling your stick a modest extension isn't going to hurt the physical components within it. To my knowledge every PC Joystick use a linear pot or hall effect so your degree of stick displacement is one to one to your digital input. I remember Yo yo explaining this much better than I can in some other thread. He said the aircraft in DCS are modeled with this in consideration. Therefore, the best way to model the feel of the aircraft is with a stick that is exactly the same length as the real thing. I can see how it would be a big problem but only if your stick is longer than the actual plane you are trying to simulate in which case you are better off adjusting your mount so you can make the stick the proper length. I am more concerned about the added wear on the motors than the actual gears themselves. To some degree you are probably right but I would say within reason the difference in force is negligible on the actual gears IMO, which is only based on me using this mod now for a few weeks (2x force certainly isn't stripping the teeth off the gears at least). However, the backlash is a real issue, that's why I mentioned earlier that I don't think you would want to go much more than double the force, I could see the backlash messing things up internally if the you increase the force 3x or 4x because your using a cougar without a proper counterweight. You could mess with the axis tune curves but like I mentioned before, why would you want to? You are much better off making your stick the right length and adjusting the way you mount it to achieve a truly authentic feel, just my opinion. -
I used to use the twist on my X52 for a long time with IL2 and ROF. I finally bit the bullet and got some CH peddles. It took a while to relearn how to fly with them but once I became familiar with them I realize there is no substitute. If you are in the US I would suggest checking Craiglist daily because I see a few of them on there in my area from time to time. You can get some really good deals if you just know where to look. With that said some of the best advice I got for scoring hits on a plane is to try to use as little rudder as possible. Yes it is very important when you get into a turning fight with another opponents, so try to avoid those situations. You are going to want to master the boom and zoom tactic. Line up on your prey and shoot right through them focusing on using as little rudder input as possible. And of course I have to give a shameless plug to invite you to join us on our dogfight server. If you get on teamspeak anyone one of the DoW pilots on at the time would be happy to fly with you. That's not to say we are experts but it always helps to have someone there attempting to cover your six o'clock.
