  1. It's not that bad, and for SP the barthek mod makes it's pretty decent actually.
  2. Just look at that beautiful plane. Can't wait DCS G6 some day...because eventually it'll have to come sooner or later.
  3. Had an rare opportunity to sit in cockpit of original Bf 109 G6 couple of days ago. Was pretty awesome..i can only confirm what pilots said, cockpit is small but very well laid out, everything is easily reachable and it's fits like a glove around you (unless youre very tall). And i can also confirm that 3d model of cockpit in DCS is pretty much spot on, after countless hours of flying with VR the real deal felt really similar right away. Anyhow, it also confirms the point of this topic, wich is rlm 66, or lack of it in-game. Some of the parts of G6 cockpit is painted wrong colours as you can see but gauge panel and cannon cover for example are rlm 66, and it is very dark colour in real life, looks almost black when canopy is closed. Couple of more, could not fit them in one post..
  4. Alright, here is some drawings from original K4 type sheet, should be pretty easy for devs to compare if dimensions are in same ballpark in-game.
  5. Fantastic job with sound update. One of the best engine sounds ever released in any sim, no doubt.
  6. I was searching pics when i saw these old screenshots from 2014 or something, and what we see here is much closer to how it should be. Looks so much better with correct "stance". My guess is that at some point in development/updates something went wrong with adjusment and it's been like that since... Could some of the mods pass this to devs for check, @NineLine or @BIGNEWY ? Thanks.
  7. Couple of more comparison shots just for a fun. DCS with fully loaded ammo/fuel/MW50/drop tank: DCS empty, no fuel/MW50/ammo: Red line there marks the end of the thicker part of strut. Now, let's assume this real K4 is empty. It's clear that sag in game is way too much.
  8. That is of course impossible to say from the wartime pics, but i have compared a lot of pics and there seems not not be much difference in compression even when loaded with drop tanks & stuff, so i guess we are talking about max. few centimeters difference between full load and empty in real one. In DCS there is no noticeable difference too, between loaded/unloaded sag. Compressibility is modelled there, we can see how leg is extented when plane is in the air, it seems to be correctly modelled lenght wise. Now, when plane is in the air, lenght of landing gear is much closer to (static) real one.
  9. Another comparison to G10 leg; Easy to see how much lower 109 sits in game, pay attention to gear door also (the part that slides in when plane is in ground. They should only overlap each other by few centimeters. As soon as plane is on air and leg is extented, we can see 3d model is correct, it just sits too low when on ground. In reality in should probably sit around 5-10cm from fully extented, in game it's probaly more than 15cm judging by looks. Same goes to tail wheel strut wich also sits too low in game. Irl the chrome part should be visible about same amount as the thicker part. It's not a big issue but it makes 109 looks dwarfish when on ground, should not be hard to correct either i guess.
  10. As title says. "Our" 109 sits too low when in ground, i.e not enough pressure in oleos compared to real one. Currently it sits legs almost fully compressed while in reality they should be closer to fully extented when static. It's impossible to take pics exactly same angle as real one but here is some comparison shots; should be easy enough to see what i mean. I tested both full load and empty, no visible difference. Now let's take a closer look of leg itsel; first real K4. I will continue on next post.
  11. Well as said before, one of first testflights so he flew flaps (and probably)gears down with low power settings so... Yep. It's easy to recognise DB from Merlin by sound alone, altough sound quality is not great on that video.
  12. No, it was buchon converted to G-12 with DB, then back to Merlin. IIRC they said in sales ad back then (platinum fighter sales) that both engines were available and it's built on a way that engine swap is easier than usually.
  13. It was powered by Daimler-Benz at that video. Later it's changed to Merlin (cheaper to maintain etc), they still have DB for it, ready to use If want. If i remember correctly that video is from one of very first testflights so they take it extra careful with low powersettings etc.
  14. Edit. Ahh now i see
  15. I worked almost 15 years as military a/c painter, i saw quite lot of weathered cockpits back then...in my opinion weathering is not a problem, just the way it's done with fw cockpit. It's not super bad, It just doesent look right somehow, like it's very dirty, also from places it should not be really. Also the bit weird cockpit lighting in dcs may be part of it.
  16. Yes, transformer for the artifical horizon.
  17. Yes, and it really makes huge difference when scale is correct. For a long time i didn't bothered to alter scale because everything seemed to be "close enough", but i'm really happy that i finally did. I'm not at home so i can't check where i settled but i think it's around 55-57...now everything is perfect in size, not only cockpit but world around it too, also ground objects of course.
  18. I can only agree there. I was expecting top of the level module, and that's exactly what it is. Looks fantastic, cockpit is awesome, flies pretty much how i was thinking it would. And it sounds so good. What an awesome aircraft...you certainly won't have that "trapped" feeling like usually on twins when enemy a/c's are closing.
  19. Yes it is
  20. By late 1944/early 45 in western europe, most of the other 109's were G6/AS,G14(/AS),G10 models so performance difference was not that big after all.
  21. I agree fresher cockpit paint would look way better. Also i could be darkened a bit. I don't know why excatly, but somehow A8's cockpit weathering looks "fake" to me. 3d wise it's probably more accurate than D9 but it somehow looks older/less sharp espcecially in VR. Also, why on earth they made that leather cushion so angular on edges...never seen one like this on pics of real cockpits. Really ticks on my eye somehow... with few corrections it could be awesome cockpit though. Edit; pics are for showing cushion only. Middle photo is unrestored Ta 152, but cushion in it is similar to earlier Fw models.
  22. Thanks guys, will check those once i'm back at home
  23. I can use old skins for K4 without problems (except they don't look so good anymore) but when i try old D9 skins they just don't show up on m e. Why is that, do i need to edit something to get them work again?
