  1. I started out on F19 (Either 1989 or 1990). But Chuck Yeager's Air Combat was the one that taught me how to dogfight. That was the first real simulator that I played. The greats to me was Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, Janes Longbow, Janes F18, DID EF2000, DID F22, EAW, IL2 and of course LOMAC. Haven't played Flaming Cliffs, Black Shark or Falcon 4 yet.
  2. Thank you. But I meant converting other tracks (If at all possible.). If I could remember corectly, the post showed how one could edit a track from any sim (Like IL2 or Falcon 4.) with wordpad to turn it into an ACMI file.
  3. I do not know if this is the right place to ask this question; but I need help from the forum members. A while back I read a post of how you can tun LOMAC tracts in to ACMI tracts. I saved it to my computer. Yet now I can not find it! I need help! Can somebody just point me in the right direction please. It is said in the post that one can even change IL2 tracts into ACMI tracts (I think.).:poster_oops:
  4. Thanks for the info. I wanted to get a ASUS motherboard; but my supplier were out of stock. I am not going to overclock the board at all.
  5. Hello, I do not know alot about computers, so I just want to ask the members here of their opinion. I have already bought the thing so I want to know if it is a mistake or not. It is a Intel Media Series 'Dragontail Peak'. Here is the specs: Intel P35, LGA775, FSB1333, 4xDual DDR2 800, 1xPCI-x16, 3xPCIx1, 3xPCI, 5xSATA(Raid 0,1,5,10), 1xeSATA, 1xATA133, Gbe Lan, 8ch-Sound, Max 12xUSB, 2xIEEE1394, ATX (Viiv) I payed aproximately $147.00 for it (According to current exchange rate.). Basically, I want to know if it is a good motherboard at this current time or not. I could have gotten a more expensive motherboard; but this was what I had bugeted for.
  6. Accidents happen. I was only joking. It doesn't sound to me if there was any messing about by any body. But with all the aircraft about one could loose SA easily. (I read that there were alot of guys online.)
  7. I saw this sim in stores recently. I read the reviews. Is it worth buying or not?
  8. Fortunately my computer is not infected with the Windows Vista virus. I realy do not need that thing and that will not change for a couple of years to come.
  9. How so? All the information I can get is stuff from the mass media. So, what is the difference between getting your information from Google or from a coffie table book ? Some of it will be good and some of it will be junk. Remember you can always Google the manufacturers and see what they have to say about their own designs.
  10. Pappavis; I have met a couple of guys in our defence industry over the years. The rumors are that most people in the top wanted eighter a Russian or French fighter. The Grippen was a surprise. I must ad that it was also claimed that we wanted a single engine fighter. That left only the Grippen, F16 and Mirage 2000 as contenders (I don't know if the F16 was even on offer to us.). Recently there was reports in our papers that our top brass in the Air Force wanted some Italian fighter trainer and not the Hawk, but the politicians went with the Hawk.
  11. What I meant was that there is a difference between bombing a target if there might be collateral damage and bombing it if you know there are going to be collateral damage. Also USA armed services operate under much higher restrictions than most other armed forces. I saw a picture once of ECOMOG (UN) soldiers that had decapitated about dozen of their enemies and put their heads out on display (In two rows on the ground.). It was clear that nothing was done against them. P.S. I do not want to offend anybody here; but destroying the enemies broadcasting media seems to me like a strategically important thing to do. =4c= Hajduk Veljko and Nscode; I am not making lightly those (Military or civilian.) who gave their lives for your country. I read a book by an American author (Dave Hunt) that tells about things that were done against Serbs in World War II. That was not the focus of the book but he pointed out that the story in Yugoslavia is not as one sided as the media makes it out to be.
  12. Bad Weather? Air Devences? Not allowed to overfly airspace? That is the only reasons I can think of.
  13. IguanaKing; maybe the USA didn't bomb that F117 wreckage because the Serbs knew what they shot down and were all over that thing in the the shortest possible time. So the US generals might have decided that it would cause a lot of casualties if they bombed it. Deliberately killing soldiers and civilians alike might just have been to high a price to pay for the USA too keep certain secrets. I saw what I think to be a similar situation in Iraq on the news where people were swarming all over an American M1 MBT that had broken down. Suddenly there was a noise of a jet overhead and everybody scattered, fearing that it had come to destroy the tank, but it did not attack. If a jet was going to drop a GBU, you wouldn't know about it till the bomb hit you in the left ear (I am talking about civilians and the media that were standing around.). The USA destroyed the tank eventually, but waited for everybody to have left it alone first. It might have been an Apache, I saw both on the news, but I do not remember what happened to each of them. The anti-American sentiment of the media (In South Africa.) really pi$$ me off. I saw a hell of a lot worse done in recent wars (Information supplied by the same media.) but it is completely ignored. Terrorists that murder aid-workers in their countries do it because they are “desperate”. No actually they are doing it because the aid-workers can not help the general population if they are dead or are scared off. Thus the general population will not receive any foreign aid and will be alienated from the ones that are trying to help them. This is classic terrorist tactics: Target the people that you are “liberating”. Make them loyal to you out of shear terror. Sorry, drifted off topic.
  14. We have the same problem in South Africa. Well actually even worse. We are very far away from everybody. Plus we get all the old stuff (Computer wise.) dumped in our country. P. S. Congratulations with the cricket.
  15. I got to agree with you on the F15. I really like to fly it, but when I am against it I feel very intimidated. I also like to fly the MiG29. When I get in to a dogfight with a F15 I know that he would in all likelihood be able to stay in the fight longer than I can (Longer endurance.). So the lower my fuel state, the more I get worried. I only fly off line, so if the mission is designed not to show you what the opposition consists of and I am flying in a Russian bird I feel extra tension. At least the F15 shows you what kind of aircraft is painting you on the RWR.
  16. :megalol: The media do serve a purpose. If they say something, you know it is lies. They just put in some truth to help you swallow it hook, line and sinker.
  17. Under audio (sound) options. Select External Sounds and set the slider to max. Some thing to that effect.
  18. Well if that is the case then I will have to apologise again.:poster_oops: Yes, show me a country the doesn't have blood on their hands. It seems that the wrongs of some countries will always be brought up, but the wrongs of others are completely ignored. And of course, then there are things that might not even be wrong but which are claimed to be wrong (I am not revering to any thing specific.). By East, do you mean everybody east of the USA? :D Of course the JSF will fix that for some. I don't know why some guys are so anti-stealth. Wasn't one of the main reasons for putting IRST on Russian fighters so that they can attack other aircraft without warning? P.S. Force Feedback, I hope you enjoyed the cricket!:harhar:
  19. Rhen I stated that my post is my own opinion. I stated that it was my opinion that all countries that develop aircraft should have put more effort in to stealth research. I said I thought that, that was the biggest mistake in military aviation history. Actually I said that it COULD be the biggest mistake in military history. For the life of me, I can not see how this whole thing blew up to what it is now! Here is another way for me to say what I have been saying the whole time now: If you posses a warplane that can be detected from only 10km away, you can do a hell of allot damage. Stealth is one of the most important concepts in warfare. Soldiers wear camouflage, vehicles are painted in camouflage, radio silence is used, etc. So what is wrong if I say that stealth technology in military aircraft is so important that in can not be ignored? We all have the ability to judge for our selves.
  20. =4c= Hajduk Veljko Yeah, you are right. I read the part where you said the F 22 is good. It just didn't register. I think the F 22 is the best fighter in the world for BVR combat. It is a great dogfighter. According to the stuff I had read it has limited air-to-ground capability, but then again, if correctly employed, it can drop bombs till the cows come home and will not take any losses. Just stay out of reach of the greatly reduced engagement zones of radar guided SAMs. I hear (From the forums.) that it has a reduced IR signature as well. Yes, I am listening to the salesman there. But I think that most military pilots are patriots. Why would they lie to protect the F 22 if it is a failure? So that defense contractors can make money? Fighter pilots are usually cocky so say you “smoke” a F 22 during training will you keep it quiet once you get a couple of well deserved drinks down your throat? When South Africa got our Mirage F1's, they lost the majority of dogfights against our Mirage III's (Before they learned to fight in the vertical.). It was not kept secret though. The footage of the F 22 in the sights of a Super Hornet is all over the Internet Yes, I agree whack the AWACS! But AWACS have very long radar coverage. I know Russia is developing a missile (Or missiles.) that are designed to take down AWACS aircraft, but you are going to have to cross fighter-infested airspace to launch on it.
