F-15 Radar vs russian awacs what to do? need advice
TAW_Blaze replied to Qosmius's topic in F-15C for DCS World
TWS track memory would be helpful aswell, it's quite annoying to lose the bug everytime the bandit turns hot/cold. -
I think you probably pressed G at some point on the ground and then it might act like as if your gears are up, while it can't actually retract them.
-
Amazing AB effect. Any chance for the other aircraft to get something 'similar'? :D
-
Indeed, that's a pretty annoying 'feature'. :D

How do you know how the enemy's RWR is programmed? How do you tell what gives them a launch warning, or a fake launch warning?
-
If there's a guy within a certain range locking me It's pretty obvious what's going on. If I already knew where he was I can probably tell if he's gonna fire or he's just flying bait, if he's close enough and I didn't know about him before the lock I probably won't take chances and start extending. One could argue that it's unrealistic to reliably judge range from RWR signals, but this is another thing that's just there in the game and to be perfectly honest the russian equipment allows for a much better use of this than the NATO side. Speaking of unreal high level of SA, that's a double edged sword. Aside the broken EWR ghosts you can see on the russians you have godly SA, especially considering how the better Eagle drivers fly. On the other side you have the Eagle with a bunch of 21st century equipment but no datalink that was already fitted back in 80-90s, knowing how most of the russian drivers fly AWACS is not much of a help, rather a big liability, in the end no matter what I'll rely on myself and my wingmen. Be careful what you wish for, once we get some of the stuff that we should already have you might find yourself in an even worse spot. I find it amusing that a lot of russian drivers just present themselves as the victim of ED bias towards the NATO side. Russian jets have a lot of tools to make up for their disadvantages in other departments.

http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/54496262/file.html I let the AI shoot first, they miss (it's hilarious how they climb btw), then fire myself, and it hits. Exactly what I said before. I'll check with humans on both sides if I have the time later. But I bet it'll bring the same result.
-
Dear god you have no idea about what's going on at all. We showed you that the AI will miss no matter what under those conditions. The reason you missed is because you shot FIRST and the AI defended your shot FIRST, that miss was a legit execution of a really good notch. Let the AI fire first then fire yourself, unless he randomly happens to notch which is unlikely in that case you'll hit him no problem. I'm the one who is completely objective, you're just all stuck with the idea that ERs are totally useless and you're stuck there DEEP.
-
If you look closely you can see he pretty much did the perfect notch to you, that's why your first ER missed.
-
For the russians. Yes.
-
It seems pretty clear that most of this has to do with AI and the AI only. If you bring chaff into play we might see weird stuff even in an MP scenario but none of the tests involved in this thread used chaff so if we want to do that we might aswell start a new discussion.
-
Stop trying to learn BVR against AI. My cat would fly better BVR than them. To some extent yes, but the terrain lets them hide more effectively. In your video you notch far too long and to me it looks like you don't really understand how the radar/rwr works. Just to point out a few stuff, +-45 degrees is the limit, if you exceed that the rwr won't show anything (like, if you're level and there's a guy locking you directly below or on top of you, you won't get a warning, but if you bank hard you will). When using AAQ you want to do anything but look at the VSD. That just made me chuckle. Because they are as dumb as it gets. AI is only good for one thing, to learn your own systems. /this is not a judgement to who made the AI/
-
This entire thread had nothing to do with chaff.
-
Did you have a look at Riptide's ACMI? It's pretty self explanatory. The only other issue could be being online, but unless you can test LAN with other players, we can't get to know that.
-
Not trying to prove ER is flawless, but as you see what the OP claimed is related to AI. You can do a MP test with ERs, but I can guarantee you'll have the same result as we did.
-
I've fired enough AIM-7s to know, even under those circumstances some of them won't miss. Just because the guy is continously pulling 8-9G they won't miss (provided they have the energy and the lock wasn't lost). The main problem of that missile is bandits hugging the deck, if they fly really low it'll often miss. Other than that, they sometimes fail after launch, but usually they work perfectly. Try it against humans. You don't even know how the AI works, especially as it's been changed. Can easily happen that if there's a flaw in their logic, indeed all gazillion planes will do the exact same bs.
-
Considering they are AI it's not out of the realms of possibility..
-
I don't need to know. You're the one who needs to prove that they maintained the lock. You're claiming a missile guidance problem and can't even tell if the pilot who launched the missile could maintain his lock or not? I don't think I need to go further.. You have to be joking, honestly. How does it not matter that he maintains lock or not, trying to guide a SARH? Wow.. I don't even understand what this means. 10km rear aspect shots with any missile in DCS on a running bandit at low altitude are 0 pk if the target is at or above corner. You forget that AI can lose lock aswell and then pick you up again. Just because he missed his first missile and then killed you with the second it doesn't mean he never lost his lock. For a reasonable test you need a controlled environment and AI simply doesn't provide that. Do the test with humans.
-
So how exactly do you know that all AI maintained lock all along?
-
It does. We're talking about a SARH. If you lose lock it won't guide anymore. AI behaviour can cause to lose lock easily, or, make it hard to maintain lock.
-
Inproper use of radar is a different problem than missile guidance. Or you want to fix broken AI logic by changing missile behaviour? That doesn't work like that.
-
I agree with flankerator, it's invalid to judge missile performance based on how AI use it, since AI is terrible itself. Do the test with 4-5 human surrounding you, see what's the result.
-
They are talking about kinematics, not guidance :)
-
I think your quote applies to SAM launches. Not quite sure, haven't looked at the manual for a few months. If you drop tanks and you're a lot slower, well you probably still won't catch him if his running at full AB.
-
It's fast with missiles too, just make sure you don't have those damned tanks :P
