  1. What was really lame to see is the immense amount of mindless fouls. I remember just at the end of the first half near the columbian corner a brasilian player would push someone over about 10 seconds before it was over. Later on I think T. Silva just ran into Ospina while he was about to kick the ball from his hands. I'm sure there were much more, these are the two that come into my mind now. Hope Neymar gets better :\
  2. If I got it right, this is a line that follows the center of the canopy in the longitudinal axis of the plane. I don't recall any modern fighter having this feature. The closest I can think of is the FW-190s canopy, albeit that was more of a metal line. Never heard of a feature like that in DCS. To be honest this would never be a problem for a real pilot, or anyone that has trackIR. I take it you don't. If you look around with a hat it can get problematic because you can forget where your head was. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do in that case, I had that problem but it got better with experience. Now I have trackIR :)
  3. Unfortunately our recruitment is closed till October. In the meantime you can hang out on our TS if you want, there are a lot of guys around that are very knowledgeable and willing to share some of it. I recommend reading the manual first, it provides some knowledge and a lot of terms that will be used later. http://www.104thphoenix.com/ new manual: http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/250300/manuals/F-15C%20DCS%20Flaming%20Cliffs%20Flight%20Manual%20EN.pdf?t=1398888119
  4. Even TTA can be inaccurate so you can imagine how much of a guess TTI is. If the target does anything it'll be way off. The DLZ we have in DCS is logically wrong, it can help to give you an idea but it's better if you shoot based on experience. As long as they are bugged, I'm pretty sure all of them get MCG. This is just probably the B being inferior in range to the C. I'm not sure what you mean with that 5 seconds TTI though, if you have 5 sec TTI at launch you're already merged and kinematics won't be a probelm, if you have 5 sec TTI post launch at any given time it's totally irrelevant, it'll be already active and holding your lock doesn't do anything (well, not in the game). Well, that's a long story. I'll try to make it short :) First you need to understand one of the most basic concepts of BVR: get the advantage before the shooting starts. You do this by having more energy - being higher and/or faster. This will put you a step ahead of that guy and if you use your advantage well there isn't terribly too much he can do. There are some exceptions when you don't want to have the advantage or you don't need to have it. But it's better to learn the rule first, not the exceptions right? I'm not gonna talk about how generous you want to be with your missiles, how many you can afford to spend per target will always be defined by a lot of things and this is not really the subject anyway. The next thing that'll be essential in judging your shots is the DLZ. As I said it's fundamentally flawed but it can be helpful. Forget about any Rmax or close to Rmax shots. They don't even have the mathematical chance to hit in most cases. I'll make it as simple as I can for you. As a rule of thumb, just take the distance between Rtr and Rmax on the DLZ. Take the middle of that range, if the target is above that on your VSD you're just gonna waste your shot. If he's below it might have a chance of doing something. Obviously you don't always fire to actually kill the guy, there are some cases where I'll shoot outside Rmax too. Having a lot of experience will help you to correct the DLZ and get better shots off. But you don't have a lot of experience :) Timers are probably the last thing I ever look at. I pretty much only use them when I'm taking long shots to make sure I don't drop the bug too soon. Timers are estimations based on estimations that are based on other flawed estimations. On top of that, they don't follow target maneuvers. Nor does the DLZ. Oh, and you usually want to center the steering dot on the ASE circle before you shoot.
  5. Not really, no. :D That's a long story :) Maybe you should consider obeying the "keep off the grass" rule so you can contribute. :D No worries just joking.
  6. We should do a high speed cut of the radar picture with the benny hill theme, it'd be hilarious to see people just turning around and around and around without really doing anything. :megalol:
  7. I think the most important thing to take away is that we need to prepare for these kind of stuff more than we did currently. It happens but I doubt anyone will openly start calling you out for stuff. This is not the kind of environment where people will blame everything on you like you can see in a few other games.. If you happen to be part of one I'm fairly sure there'll be someone that can give you a rundown of what's really important. Not that you'll learn it straight away, but it's a start.
  8. The only problem was that trim doesn't work and I had one side full of missiles and the other with only 1. By the end I got totally sick of having to constantly counter the roll due to imbalance. I'm sure he tried. I was a bit too close. I thought I could get out because I never got the launch of the tor until about 2 seconds before I got hit, even though I was in a heavy bank so in theory it should have worked. Still haven't seen the acmi but that's as much as I remember. We had to do something because we were losing at that point sitting back wouldn't have worked out. I knew there was only 2 of them over Sochi in the end, there's a lot of stuff we could have done to box them in and kill them with Spade but none of that stuff had a chance of crossing my mind after having about 4 hours of sleep the night before. :D No, not at all. If I think back I could have flown the first 2 hours easily without firing anything. As I said I wasted the first 3 AMRAAMS because I expected something different to happen, so it took some time to adapt. I had another slammer left and 2 AIM-7 in the end. No objective, random people flying around, using afterburner like no tomorrow, firing missiles like no tomorrow, not caring about getting killed, or not caring about anything in general. Like Quake.
  9. I think I landed more than 5 times to refuel on Sukhumi. Basically I was point defending there, that allowed the other guys to go back to rearm. I fired 5 missiles total, 2 of which hit Camper, the other 3 didn't really do anything and was more of a rush at the start, none of those 3 should have been fired in the first place. Never rearmed :)
  10. I don't recall being able to change it but I'd love to have it aswell. Black HUD would help a lot when you're flying in clouds/shiny mountains.
  11. I never ever thought you could fly for 3 hours with 8 missiles total and be this useful. :D It really is a game of nerves.
  12. Thanks GA, my pleasure to be part of it. Very nice.
  13. I'm fairly sure it was a tor, IIRC I was way too high for strelas. I'll see on the tacview later. Not at all.
  14. You could probably use the guns n roses server it's usually up. Sometimes there are some people that disturb your 1v1 but normally it goes just fine.
  15. Does that really have to be asked? It's pretty obvious. :D
  16. Hell yeah that was fun! :)
  17. I don't know how accurate it is, all I'm saying it's extremely easy to dodge any of the IR missiles provided you have flares, you have some speed, you know how to do it, and it's coming from the front. The ones that come behind your 3/9 are usually more dangerous because they'll see your engines pretty well.
  18. It's all a matter of having flares and seeing it. I can't remember being hit by any in this type of situation when I actually spotted it and I had flares in the past 3-4 months. I guess it's kind of hard if you're stuck at 200 knots trying to dodge it but why they hell would u be at 200 knots?
  19. IR head on are insanely easy to dodge.
  20. AFAIK WW2 stuff is being developed by a different team. So it shouldn't hinder the progress of the 'other stuff'. :D
  21. I've been thinking the same for like the past 2 pages LMAO. :megalol:
  22. I almost started screaming at the screen when I saw the flanker on idle power and brake out in contrails when turning at something like 200 knots. The music was awesome though!
  23. Everyone is busy as hell, they barely get the time to fly with their own squadron, let alone organize some damned event where they need to find a comfortable time for a group of different people. Also the game doesn't really work out too well just yet, still need a lot of improvement. I think they'd be happy to cooperate as soon as you can do some sort of large scale event with reasonable stability. For the moment most of the people just hibernated and wait for better times. We've got something going on this weekend, wonder how that works out. Haven't talked to Raven for a while, I fly with Highway every other day. :)
  24. Even the thoughtprocess of a BVR fight is a procedure. If you're not thinking about the right stuff you'll get killed.
  25. As far as 104th missions go, WP1 for fighters is always bullseye. I'm not sure if it's the same for strikers. I can't remember a single hog pilot referencing bullseye when I asked about his position though :) As far as our squadron goes that's a standard procedure. I don't really use it to get their exact position but rather a rough estimation of where they are from me. Sometimes I get a bit lost and have to use the kneeboard though. In some cases visual references are just a better option. Well, I get it it's kind of universal, but what are the chances that the majority of the crowd will actually learn it? Maybe it could work, who knows. Probably. Generally I need 2 things to be able to help you, first your position, second the threat's direction from you. Sometimes visual references work here aswell.
