spotting contacts-anisotropic filtering 16x or off?
tsumikae replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
"Dear David, I would very much prefer the "off" alternative, if you would be so kind. Yours truly, *insert your graphic chipset name here*." "Dear David, We concur: no AF 16x, please. Thank you. The Polar Bears Club for Keeping it Cold in the Artic." :p -
New video - DCS World Tv Commercial
tsumikae replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I like the no sound version (the first vid in the topic) better. The images are striking, the editing is dynamic, the whole movie speaks for itself and sells the product really well. If anything, the fact that there is no voice is even more inviting to learn more. Just my thoughts, though, didn't mean to be rude. -
Man, you sure have some mad Windows Paint mouse skillz :P

In auto-rotation I lose my speed data on my HUD...
tsumikae replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It is normal, indeed. By closing the valves, you shut down your engines. And by shutting down your engines, you cut the AC generators power supply. They are, among many other things, responsible for making the DNS (doppler navigation system) work. And that system evaluate your speed and drift velocity. -
It's so wrong that I can't even read it: the game crashes upon opening the track. Maybe it's an issue on my side. Do you use mods?
-
Aaaand the correct answer is number one: get the hell out of there and keep flying until you can hear radio coms in Spanish. Number two: why not, but if they are already firing on you, chances are they'll get you first. Number 3: hahaha no.

Strange things when engage/disengage Hover
tsumikae replied to uboats's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Seems strange. Actually, if you engage auto-hover and the doppler navigation system is not aligned yet, (typically in a take off scenario) it will automatically disengage the bank, pitch and heading autopilots. In short, if your ground speed is not displayed on your hud, chances are engaging auto-hover will not work that well. In the same spirit, if you're getting that result when disengaging an auto-hover, check the EKRAN messages. The DNS may be at fault too. Can't you upload a track, so we can see what's going on? -

Isn't this module supposed to be the same level of complexity as say, A10C KA50 or Huey? If it's FC level, I can see why you won't be interested, but if it's a regular DCS module, it's quite different. There are no AA module right now. Just my two cents, though.

Horray!

You should have a go at that: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/173790/ Those are Bigfoot's excellent interactive training missions, compiled to be part of the training menu. They are top nocht and very useful in getting you comfortable with the most casual systems and procedures. Of course, if you keep reading the manual as well, that's even better.

You may have realistic radio com option on. If such is the case, either disable it, or push "RAlt+\" instead of just "\" while in flight. It will use SPU-9 TT communication radio and this will do the trick. Don't ask me why, I'm still kind of a noob. A dedicated noob, but a noob.

I'm sorry if this has been raised before, but I failed to find any relevant thread regarding that problem. If there's one already, could you point me in its direction? Thanks! SO. Reflections on the water are strobing at a certain distance and angle. Every type of object, from buildings to ships are affected. I have yet to determine exactly when this occurs but it's very frequent. Is it a known issue?

Quand on commence à connaître un peu le bestiau, même en simulation il est bien droit sur ses pales. C'est pas le Huey, quoi, pas besoin de sac à vomi dans la boîte à gants.

Aaaaaand there goes my pair of clean pants. The wait is killing me. I'm putting myself in stase mode from now on. Wake me up when this is done!

I don't think a good game is defined solely by its multiplayer quality. But since it's multiplayer in DCS world we are talking about, I'll add my two cents. I bought the Mustang module as well to have a little fun and support ED in the process, but I don't enjoy that much flying old planes either. That said, I can completely understand that others actually do. The WW2 module popularity shows that well enough. The time and efforts ED spent on developing that module was definitely not wasted, for those who enjoy it. Also, I have no problem at all logging on a server that allows cooperative flights between anachronic aircrafts. It can be a lot of fun, and by judging the amount of people playing on those unrealistic servers, it does not appear to be a problem for most of us. I may be wrong, though, but time will tell. The way I see it, DCS World is the common base for flying specialised, separated modules, that have no connection whatsoever. Each of these modules are state of the art, high fidelity objects meant to be learnt, mastered and flew as stand alones and multiplayer. Those are the main games, DCS World is the support. And since it's DCS world, why not letting people have fun mixing all of those aircrafts if they want to? We are not forced to fly our KAs along with P51 against a bunch of Hueys dropping troops over a city in the Russian Caucasus, we just can. DCS world can do that, so why not? For the sake of realism in a public accessible military aircraft simulation? I think it's far better to let people be creative and play the way they want without any restriction. If one wants to make a more realistic server fitted with believable scenarios, they can. I personnaly enjoy both types, depending on the mood. I don't enjoy much old planes, as I said, but enjoy sharing a game with those who do.

How to reset HUD to nav mode after use weapon?
tsumikae replied to uboats's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Also, don't forget to disengage your cannon if it's active. -
I'd like to second Badger's request: any approximative release date, please?
-
Wow. Now that's some fast service :D Not to mention a great work.

My bad, I thought we were talking about the original A variant, wich had none of that (edit: radar and GPS, I mean). From what I read, GPS were installed on the A since 1993, and every A upgraded with the longbow radar (among other upgrades) automatically earns its D graduation. I didn't know that A variants were ever fitted with radars.

Auto-hover should be engaged when you're almost in an acceptable hover, actually. For it to work properly, your speed prior to engaging it should not exceed 5. Maybe you knew that already, but just in case: your hud helps you getting more stable. When your speed drops below 50, a vector appears on your hud, indicating your helo overall heading and speed. Your goal is to nullify that vector with control inputs that are basically in the opposite direction.

T'inquiète, moi je suis le troisième, sur la photo ;)

(More like this) :p

Even without the prize money, that sounds fun. I would be in. And lose very quickly, probably, but who cares :) Also, it could be a good motivator to train and acquire new skills.

I'd love to see the KA-52. Won't happen anytime soon, but I'd give a lot of cash for that one. Ok, maybe not enough fro ED to deal that with Kamov, I guess.
