  1. I don't know if this has been noticed before, and maybe it's just my rig, but since 1.2.8 if my flare counts is at zero, the digits texture will show outside the UV26 screen boundaries.
  2. You can try something, actually: if your HDR settings are either on warm colors or normal, set them to cold. Be warned, though, you might get blind when facing the sun :p
  3. Additionaly, I'd recommend the Virtual Aerobatics server, for non weapon flights. Quite newbie friendly, with a good bunch of people willing to give a hand. Again, weapons are forbidden and by that, I mean bannish-forbidden ;)
  4. The lack of RWR on that aircraft is a big issue for sure. But Shilkas? I don't know what would be the engagement process in real life, but ingame, I eat them for breakfast. That's, of course, if I spot them soon enough :D
  5. Quite the opposite, it seems. BS2 has it right. Here is an interesting read: http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_427a.html
  6. Well right now, my landings in that plane can be resumed by "gears? check. Flaps, check. Speed? Still going forward, so check. Aerobrake? mmmh who needs that?". So yes, maybe "by the book" was a bit of overkill. "Properly" would be more accurate.
  7. So It's me who's too slow. Hey, KA 50 and A10 pilot here, what can I say :D Then again, I still have to actually learn to fly it by the book.
  8. Gee, as other said, you're coming in fast. Still, that was smooth. On a sidenote, I'm surprised to read that landing that plane could be a problem in the first place. I may be a jerk, here, but I never had any problem at all landing that thing, even without any lesson on the matter. From the first try to the latest. Even wondered if it was supposed to be that easy. I started FC3 not so long ago, so maybe hours of training on the landing procs in the A10c have smoothed things for me. Also, I don't bother too much with strict procs on that one, I tend to trust my judgement. Bad, I know.
  9. I would bring a note from the doctor that says I can't fly today.
  10. Ar you thinking of the mig 21? If so, duels would be not be too fair for the mig. The 2000 is the same generation as the mig 29.
  11. Ha ha I didn't even noticed it was the same person. There I was just wondering why all this interest for BS1, all of sudden :D
  12. It is very good sim. You will have fun, and in terms of accuracy, the gap between both versions is not that important. You'll be able to jump into BS2 right away when/if you get it. The only real downside, IMO, is that you'll miss the multiplayer aspect, which is really something. On a sidenote, double check your specs for both versions. Since BS1 is not updated anymore, it is possible that in fact you may be able to run BS2 just as well on low settings.
  13. Do TIR axis show themselves in the axis controls?
  14. Yes, you should be able to add that as well. It's really a macro, ergo a sequence of commands, so as long as you know how to write the right command you should be fine. I don't, for the record.
  15. In DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\Scripts, you'll find a LUA file called Macro_sequencies. I think it is the one that drives the auto-start proc. If you are comfortable anough with that, you can edit it and solve the problem. You can even do your own start-up proc.
  16. Exactly. Again, as a CAS pilot it's part of the fun: to *avoid* being shot down. Our job is to bust ground units and stay in the air as long as possible, A2A job is to prevent that. For all the time I got nailed by a fast mover, there were also many times when I saw one passing by right under my nose, unable to see me crawling on the ground. In those moments, I feel I'm playing the game really well. I even managed to lock a su33 and shoot a pair of Vikhrs at it, once. They failed, but still. Unless it's with cool people I generally don't like too much pure A2G missions. If I want that, I'm back in the single player campaign, where I have time to experiment, try stuff and mess around. BUT, again, being shot down right on the runway because your side does not have A2A and the opposite side has so many they get bored and don't even wait for you to actually be in the air does not qualify as fun, after the third attempt at taking off. So instead of moaning and complaining, I would just move away, no big deal. Since I'm still learning the KA, and only very recently began the A10, I have not learnt anything about A2A aircrafts so I cannot do anything else right now. And quite frankly, the KA manuals coupled with Bigfoot tutorials, as well as the A10c ones make the FC learning curve look like a real mess of LOY and DIY. This could be fun, but like many others here I have a job, so one thing at a time.
  17. I agree, balance is not the Holy Grail and it is fun and thrilling to feel outnumbered, but do you really enjoy being next to completely alone in a A2G aircraft, against half a dozen (if not more) hungry A2A ones? Sometimes, they don't even have a CAS team on their side. Here the fun stops (for me at least), and I look for another server. And so does A2A pilots, apparently. No one told that a game should be perfectly balanced, Not being ridiculously unfair is already nice.
  18. Haha so true. How many times did I felt a shock and noticed my tail was gone, along with various systems, and thought mmmh I must have been hit, maybe I should rtb.
  19. Fair point, but that's only because not many people care about balance. Also, as most mission objectives imply the wiping of ground forces, the F15 pilots are bound to lose the game if no one is going CAS on their side. Also, while it's true that my KA is the easiest target around for any fighter, being able to wipe out everything moving on the ground while remaining undetected/unseen by fast movers fills me with joy.
  20. Yes. Dot that, really. It's really refined, almost bug free (almost), and since it is now integrated in DCS world, not only it is much more eye candyish, but you'll be able to enjoy multiplayer with all of us socially deficient, sim lovers people. I also advise not to upgrade, but to buy the full version instead. During sales, it's not that expensive and it will save you the troubles of keeping your BS1 copy.
  21. Only one, unvulnerable. Because
  22. The track feature is kind of messy. It tends to become less and less accurate over time. Basically, the longer the track, the greater the chances of seeing it go crazy. On the other hand, maybe you were not flying, and you were in fact standing in the grass for ten minutes. You never know.
  23. Isn't the final digit supposed to be 1/10 of a minute? Since you can actually go higher than 6.
  24. Yes, as Tietze said, if you can play BS2 instead (wich is essentially BS1 made almost perfect and DCS world compatible), just leave BS1 out of the picture.
