  1. I feel some people here treat them as mandatory. I have a cheap HotasX with twist and it works well.
  2. I never had pedals and never felt the need to use them. Just calibrate your stick well.
  3. SurwTE=Whisper;3011181]Well, 1st effect, as a 109, I won't turn & burn a P51 anymore, because that Spit in the vincinity is going to handle me nicely if I do so.... Assuming that the P51 will start a turning fight and stay alive long enough for the Spit to gain on the 109. Sure that can work against bad players, but a good one will just increase the vertical separation. Not to mention 109s that currently rurnfight spits and win.
  4. Well, I would love to see that as well. All I see is burning allied planes falling dwon in different parts of the sky. To me the biggest benefit of the Spitfire is that servers are more populated. Which means less Germans on my tail.
  5. Not really. Spit has to rely on slow speed tight turnfights which make the P51 unable to follow those. If P51 needs help it dives and runs which the Spit cannot cope with as it is slow and cannot catch the adversary. They cannot help each other, maybe Spit can fly low so P51s can b&z running Gerries.
  6. People also like to judge the airplanes fight capability only basing on its turn rate. And sure it is important, however speed is the ultimate weapon. If one is faster, he/she dictates the fight. What I see flying in the P51 is that at least teams are balanced. Before spit we had 16bger vs 5us. With new DM its gonna get better.
  7. Ahem. Sorry, but I had to: - ED Spitfire LF. Mk.IXc (1943-44) and P-51D (1944). -VEAO Work on a P-40F (1941/42) and a Spitfire Mk XIV (Early 1944). :smartass: You know, all the planes in DCS are actually weapons made to kill people. Stuka was indeed a weapon of terror, but so was every other bomber constructed. And fighter pilots killed civilians too. War is war. Never more wars... But we need bombers for DCS to become a living platform for some realy good sim WW2 action. It was not a problem in the past, why now? I would much rather see some Me410 than the Stuka for the period, but Stuka was in service for a long time... so I guess it could fit in.

You have just proven that you are amazing sound designer. Your work is impeccable. Pure victory incarnate. Did I stress enough that your work is awesome? :D
  9. Check tests of airplanes u are talking about. At lower RPM you cannot go faster than at higher RPM. In both Spit and P51 you need 3000rpm to gain max speed. All best performances for the Merlin engine are at 3000. If DCS is correct. Our engines quit after a bit of abuse while we have IRL reports of way longer abuse and just engine damage not loss. For example I've read that R2800 was tested on WEP 2300hp for 24h (constant operation). Engine was sitting on the ground. Test concluded engine was damaged but it didn't quit. Sure we don't have a radial, but I am pretty sure those engines should start running rough and loose power and not just die 100% of time.
  10. Interesting because to reach max level speed you need 3000rpm. Also if you go low RPM and high power you will kill your engine. You need to adjust rpm before changing power. If you want to be most combat effective u have to change the RPM to 3000 as it gives u the most acceleration and enables WEP.
  11. : :holiday:
  12. Is prop pitch on auto? Or maybe u climb to slow?
  13. I think the original screen was taken at late afternoon. That's why they look "lit". Also, I am all for more contrasting and vivid colours, which helps with sporting of the aircraft.
  14. In War Thunder stalls are more vicious and easier develop into a spin than in DCS. Also way harder to recover from. DCS has mild plane behaviour in comparison.
  15. The Me262 is a very cool airplane with both air to air and air to ground weapons. Amazing armament of 4x Mk108... But I agree I would much rather see an airplane that mission creators could put in numbers. 262 would just outclass everything and would have to be used in limited numbers. I would rather like to see Me410 and B25 which both were amazing planes, far more common and would give us more mission variety. Maybe later? But ED is honoring the Kickstarter project and I am sure many of them wanted the 262 and I am even sure that some backed it just to get the 262. I am really looking forward to the P47D I hope they have the info the need :)
  16. Well, still the airplane with one wing and burning flies faster in a straight line than a prefectly good aircraft. Don't you find that a bit wierd? Do you want to tell me that airplanes would fly better if they didn't have wings?
  17. It was not a colision though, my theory is that graphics engine failed to render all hits(it seems only tracers in DCS show hit marks on targets [other bullets seem to produce hit marks on the ground though]) or hits from that close made the HP fall more and by pulling hard G above me, he riped his wing on his own, as there is no other explanation for lack of any impact on my part. No changes in course or vibration or damage on the plane nor sound, because I can assure you the sound was recorded but I have deleted it because of harsh language on the TS. Anyway, the important part is. That a wingsless 109, burning, was faster than a not even scrached P-51D, both climbing and flying level. This is mindbogling and frankly shows that DM doesn't change anything for the FM, as the airplane should have way less lift and much more drag due to loss of an wing. It might not be just the 109, but the current DM is just bad (I know thats nothing new). And thats why I agree with Buzzles, we have to wait for the new DM to have a proper discussion. Did it improve during that time? Yes it did. Both 109 and Mustang and Dora consistently loose their control surfaces, that is good. But the damage to those surfaces before they drop off doesn't count for any drag or loss in maneuvrability, eg. in my last video, I was damaged badly to my aileron, the thing was nearly non-existant, but felt as a brand new aileron and the airplane rolled like dream. No, not everything is just related to the 109, but it is the only plane from my playing time that took a AiM120 to the face and kept on flying:smilewink: (from WW2 planes, cause VEAO HAWK seems even more broken. That thing could take two missles and fly :P) Also, if DM was better, you could realy expect two AP .50cal bullets to damage a spar so that it could break during a high G pull out.
  18. +1
  19. You are hilarious because it is clear the damage was due to my fire, not a colison. There was no sound, but I can assure you we have not smashed into each other. You pulled up on the last second, but your wing got riped off and you were still flying faster and climbing faster than me. So how can you explain that?
  20. I flew at an angle off chasing that 109 and saw it well enough and had a video of it, but not anymore. It wasn't that interesting, I see that regularly, so I didn't think that it would suprise anyone. But I do have another video. Let me just leave this here, it speaks louder than any of us:
  21. Well the 109 seems to be the most resilient of all. I saw a109 in MP that took 13 shots from 23mm AAA over a field and flew like nothing happened and then took a few more and started smoking and running and outran my P51D at SL. So yeah. 190s known IRL for their ruggedness seem to be a lot easier to kill.
