Well... No. The Spit is going to be too slow to keep up with both 109 and P51. I predict that Spitfire will be very successful at the beginning, because many 109 players will keep on turnfighting. Just as they do against P51 now. But when they realize how slow the spitfire is and change their factics, the 109K and Fw190D will be almost invulnerable.

I always think.that we should have the current time line fleshed out. So to me, they should make prioeites for following aircraft: P38L, Fw190A8, Typhoon or Tempest, Mosquito, B25, B24, Hs129, Ju87D, He111, Ju88, Me410, Me109G14.

Show me your mad dogfight skills (FW190D9 Version)
Solty replied to super_baloo's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Competent Dora would be able to stay safe from the 109. The issue is that it would take a lot of time for the Dora, because it would have to run for big portions of time, so it doesn't suit everyone to do that, but that's the way of an B&Z aircraft. -
What is the possibility of a BoB scenario.

I would be OK with BoB but I would rather see Holland, Belgium and P38L, Fw190A8 and Tempest added. -

No, it is you that do not understand. First il2 and 46 were one of the best combat sims of their time. You act as if technology doesn't matter. SPAD is just as much a great fighter, as Mirage 2000 is. Old il2 compared to its contemporary sims was ahead of its time. -

Ehhh. Is this some kind of primal urge to insert your selves into hating groups? Il2 had an amazing impact on ww2 air combat sims. What u all seem to fail to grasp is that each of them is different and has different objectives. What differentiates them is time and objectives. Old il2 was great compared to others like MCS2 and Janes' Attack Squadron which were sub par. WT is a soft sim, aims at easy control and fairly accurat. performance specs. DCS and BoS are new generation of combat sims and are very much comparable. What BOS lacks in engine managment, DCS lacks in DM. -
I know right?:smilewink: Really though. Shooting a heavy tank with .50cals or 20mm is futile. Sure some damage like throwing off a track, damaging optics, hitting crew or throw their tools out of the tool box is plausible xD. Also it will rustle their jimmies and there are known cases of tank crews bailing out, but it is unlikely. Shooting at tanks with MGs and 20mm cannons is waste of time and ammo. I wouldn't even try it on the Box Panzer aka PzIV.
-
Rockets, yes. Cannons? Same as on the Spitfire. Nothing special. You need a bit more punching power to do something to a heavy tank like the PzVI Tiger.
-
Well, I saw the same discussion in WT, and on the DCS forums I saw a guy that claimed that .50cal bullet would bounce of human skin at 500m, so this no longer puts me in a state of shock:smilewink:
-
Exactly. M2 is a good HMG and it can penetrate many types of targets. But tiger and panther and most other tanks are out of the question. PzII and Sdkfz 251/1 though.

There is no savoir-vivre in air combat. As my friend once told me: "If you expect it to be fair, you are doing it wrong".
-
I always keep my K14 at 1000ft to just have the reference and know when I have a plane in my convergence.

The only Air Superiority Fighter here is the Mustang and P47 if it gets those big drop tanks. Both 109 and 190 are classified as Interceptors due to their short range and good climb rate/acceleration.But both can not stay long enough over enemy territory and cannot fly far enough to actually win the air superiority.

Awesome video. Lots of creativity went into it. Certainly, stands out from the DCS crowd :)

PzKpfw-VI Ausf. E Tiger I Pics in Weekend Update
Solty replied to Captain Orso's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
LOL, You are right. I have not noticed it myself. xD -
Tiny Tim is not guided and is an anti-ship weapon.

To me the best is ACG, due to good ping and imposter settings. And I remember that server will get more complex missions after we get the Normandy map.

PzKpfw-VI Ausf. E Tiger I Pics in Weekend Update
Solty replied to Captain Orso's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
I am pretty sure Ausf. H1 was before the Ausf. E. The latter was the late production model after the Tiger II project was nearing completion. Still, Tiger production revolved around lots of handywork and each tank might seem different. You can see lots of differences between T-34's depending on the factory and time. -
http://fighter-collection.com/cft/curtiss-p-40f-warhawk/ "... but the only P-40Fs to see combat in the Pacific Theatre were flown by the 44th and the 68th Fighter Squadrons of the 347th Fighter Group in the Solomon Islands from November 1942 to October 1943." http://www.p40warhawk.com/Variants/P-40F.htm Thats all I could find.

:book:Few issues with this list, primarily WW2. Firstly, P-51D model is from 1944. P-51 development doesn't start or end there, because there were P-51(1941), P-51A, P-51B/C and then P-51D and H and K and few other airplanes that were not in service but rather prototypes. Development started in 1940 as response to the British demand on a fighter. It is a long story, I can link you a great site about it. http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/variants/home Anyway, since the list states P-51D, as a whole we should take year 1944 as entering the service and it did serve long after the war. Our current plane is P-51D30 which was introduced in 1945, but since we are getting a new model (probably D20 or D25), I think you can still keep the 1944 mark. Secondly, the P-47. It is listed as the P-47 which is a 1941 airplane, what we are going to get is the bubble cannopy P-47D-28 or D30 (I presume). The first P-47D were from 1943 but they didn't have the bubble cannopy and there were quite a few differences between each block. Anyway if you want to leave P-47, you need to put it at 1941, if you want the P-47D it should be at 1943, if you want to put the P-47D model we will have, probably P-47D late, 1944 would be ok. Thirdly, we are not getting the F4U-4, Leatherneck announced the F4U-1D which is a 1944 airplane. Lastly, the P-40F is theoretically a 1941 airplane.

VBS 3 Same is done in Il2 46 and War Thunder. Depending on distance and the model itself the model or a dot replaces it, allows for better and more natural spoting without straining the eyes. Zoom, is and always was present, years ago. In old games such as Jane's WW2 Fighters, IL2 etc. Both zoom and object scaling were always part of the experience. You just assumed that it was different, without fact checking, and now you are trying to hold on to your belief.
-
With every post you prove you do not know you are talking about. Smart scaling and other methods and derivatives take resolution into consideration. Play some other games than dcs. Furthermore, you cannot simulate real life vision on a monitor screen. You cannot. It is a 2D plain even if it shows a 3D world, so your eye will never react to it as it does in real life. That is why model scaling is so important.

What should I do if it happens again? Just rejoin? Or maybe restart the game? I don't want any additional advantages over others.
