Is there any way to generate a fast mission with the generator from the main menu that uses the WWII assest pack and related aircraft or does it always mix in SAMs and modern jets?

Ah nice did that myself on Wednesday for the ol Bday blowout :D

Thanks for the write up, definitely food for thought =)

AMD's Radeon settign doesn't see DCS = FPS not limited = overheating
Cool-Hand replied to DirkLarien's topic in 2D Video Bugs
Same experience as above. I have to Alt+Enter to get it to fullscreen after I crank up DCS for the frame limiting to become active from my ATI settings. -
Hi Jafa thanks so much for releasing this mod! Finally get to hear it for myself, I love the fly by sounds, you nailed those  Quick question though, is it just me or is there no sound when firing the HVARS? I know everyone has a different sound set up and probably DCS slider settings but what might your recommended in game slider settings be for audio?

Actually I wasn't referring to a texture mod on the gunsight. The actual file that sits behind it in the gunsight that the "mustang_photo" dds file refers to was what I was looking for to work. I can get other files to work now using the saved games folder but for some reason when I create the description.lua to reference the game to the correct file it never appears. This is what I'm using in the Description.lua livery = { {"p51d-cpt01", 0, "p51d-cpt01_mod", false}; {"mustang_photo", 0, "mustang_photos", false}; {"pilot_P51_kneeboard",0,"mfd3",true}; --dcs default {"p51d-mirror", 0 ,"mirrors",true};--mirrors texture replacement with runtime rendered one } The other cockpit texture works but for some reason mustang_photo won't unless I change it in the DCS file structure itself by replacing the file and failing integrity check for multiplayer. :helpsmilie:

Groovy thanks! Yeah if you can show me how to do it via the Saved Games folder that would be awesome. I figured out the liveries and stuff via the Saved Games but I was using method 3 in this post https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3196643&postcount=1for textures to work in the cockpit like the cockpit photo.

Hey all, I assume this is the right forum for this request, if it's not let me know or feel free to move it. Is there any way that the dash board photo in the P-51D can once again pass integrity check on multiplayer servers on the Alpha version? I joined burning skies yesterday and integrity check flagged "Mods/aircraft/p-51d/cockpit/textures/p-51D-cpt-textures/mustang_photo" until I removed it. I always liked this nice touch to at least semi-personalize the office. If not, it's fine offline but since it looks like it was originally a part of the module it would be awesome if we could have that back again.

Here is a piece of evidence for you with just a cursory glance through my Kindle library that talks about the group using a common convergence and the one that we have currently in DCS if I'm not mistaken or very close to it. A pretty good read too! MUSTANG ACE Memoirs of a P-51 Fighter Pilot by Robert J. Goebel

The way I have understood it from my readings of the Army Air Corps was that there were maybe a couple of standardized convergence settings, mainly though I think they differentiated between what the squadron was tasked to do. I.E. the 8th AF mustangs typically doing escort runs (depending on the year of course) and the 9th AF doing much more Close Air Support. I believe there were different range settings for primarily ground attack vs escort, but I haven't really seen it mentioned in too many places. I'll have to check into my older books again for exact sources though and numbers to them. The main problem though with going with exotic custom convergence settings is the fact that most of the time, even when you got your own personalized aircraft in the group, that didn't mean you were the only pilot to fly it. Reasons being for scheduling pilots with availability and maintenance you had to switch things up. In that regard it's better to keep standardized settings so one pilot will know what to expect when they pull the trigger. It's much more important to be able to use the plane between different flight crews and use it rather than have each plane a special case that can only be used by one pilot. This is not even to mention the fact that when guys in the USAAC went through initial gunnery training in the states and "clobber college" in theater they used the standard convergence settings on all those aircraft. By reasoning if you get pretty comfortable shooting with those settings, why would you want to suddenly change that up while flying combat. It was WWII, pretty much anything and everything happened that you can imagine, just by the sheer scale of it all. I'm sure custom convergence was used by some guy at some point in the USAAC but I'm thinking it was a very rare thing overall. I'm not sure about the RAF and other airforces but for the USAAC I feel pretty confident that it was very rare overall.

Hey eekz I'm really enjoying your server and scenarios a lot recently! Thanks for all the work you put into it and keeping it updated! I fly the P51 primarily out of Novo and have had difficulty in getting topped off again on my .50 cals from the ground crew when I return to refuel. I tried at Krymsk as well and got the same result. They usually have no problem giving me fuel but when it comes to the rearming request they always say "unable to comply." Last night a friend of mine was saying he had the same problem as well. It's no big deal to grab a new bird but I thought I'd just bring it up. Maybe I'm just not asking kindly enough.

^^^ maybe he just mistook a radiator leak for fuel

"sound-radar"...official opinion on it?

This definitely needs some attention... I wish I could hear well enough to find other aircraft by sound at work :megalol: -
P-51 Authentic Whine Sound.
Cool-Hand replied to BravoFoxTrt's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
No prob, ya the stock sounds are a bit on the lawnmowerish side for me as well compared to other titles out there. If you are flying online though, most of the time the views are restricted to internal only so it's not like you would hear the whistle a whole lot anyways unless you are under heavy G's. I agree, it would be nice if ED revisited the Mustangs sound a bit but there are bigger fish to fry with the whole 1944 and coming 2.5 merger. -

If it helps I use these two sound mods together for the stang I feel like these combined are really good, the scream mod might be a bit overdone but it's such a sexy sound :D Sound Р-51D\TF-51D http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1286227/ by gremiha P-51 Mustang Realistic Scream http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1089159/ by 5tuka -
Input device TrackIr unplugged/plugged
Cool-Hand replied to Scoll's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
I use TrackIR as well and get this error as well. A couple of times I end up having to restart the game to get TrackIR to work again even though when I Alt+Tab out TrackIR is working fine. -
Ya I had the same thing happening to me. My ping was 130 not nearly as good as yours but in previous versions I had no problems with lag or warping. I did notice some people on with 300+ pings. I wonder if that had anything to do with it

I personally feel like a lot of the problems with the current DCS P-51 vs 109 matchup regardless of engine ratings or altitudes fought stem from the damage models or lack of them. From other sims I've played from the German perspective, the radiators are a real weak point being so prominent on the wings of the 109. All it took was a lucky nick from a .303 from a spit or hurricane and then your time in that airframe is down to ~5mins max depending on how you ran the engine or the severity of the leak. Unfortunately DCS doesn't have this right now, you get the white smoke but it's just for decoration it seems at the moment. I mean online with all that lead flying from the P51 guns, it's very probable to nab both radiators with a mid to long range shot. If that really mattered you wouldn't see P51's dumping half their load into a 109 to knock off a wing/tail, catch it on fire, or kill the pilot which seem to be the majority of the way planes go down aside from the ever present prop governor going. If the damage model was up to par with the complexity of the flight models I think a lot of the turning and burning you have to do as a Mustang driver would be cut down a lot to nab a 109. As it stands now, the 109 has all the performance advantages with very few of the design compromises. I mean it's a small airframe, if you hit it with 6 fifty cals for 2 seconds you are going to hit something vital. That something vital is most likely going to make it combat ineffective pretty soon or at least for the pilot to make a choice to disengage or troubleshoot in a dogfight. The armament for fighter on fighter action is definitely in favor of the Mustang along with the high speed maneuverability. The 109 enjoys quite a few other performance advantages along with very effective radiators that don't take damage unless the pilot of hamfisted in Engine Management, I haven't flown the latest patch but also to what I recall their guns don't overheat. So you have quite a few unique design features with none of the compromises they entail. Same with the Mustang, it's radiator is quite exposed to ground fire, but it's pretty rare if ever that I've experienced an airframe loss to that. It's either the radiator motor goes or the prop governor goes. So to compare the two planes at this state isn't a very historical or realistic one at all unless you do it sans weapons.

[FIXED INTERNALLY] 1.5.4 AI
Cool-Hand replied to gavagai's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Yeah I noticed that too. Granted I haven't been home since this latest July iteration came out but the AI seemed to give up pretty early no matter the skill level. I saw that if you turn away they will come and get you but it's a rinse and repeat scenario. It's pretty easy to see it happen in the P-51D quick mission vs the 190. Maybe it was my crappy shooting too but the 190 seemed to take a lot of damage again vs 1.5.3 before going down. I know the DM is WiP. -
How do you fly the p51d when dogfighting...
Cool-Hand replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
What he said  Just to add my 2 cents... try and keep the fight as high speed as possible with the 109s, around 350 mph and above. They seem to have trouble keeping up with turns there when you are riding the edge of blackout, especially at those speeds. If it goes sideways on you, just dive away and extend out and use the K-14 to pick them off at long distance. YMMV but it usually works for me if I'm alone, but nothing beats a good wingman! -
Seriously, what on earth does pulling up posts by jcomm from here and other forums have anything to do with a thread about how to learn to dogfight?
