  1. Awesome thanks for the tip! Never thought about the weight being the issue. It's a really annoying bug.
  2. Hey thanks for the mission, I'll try it out when I get back!
  3. Awesome work on the Shiny Thunderbolts, I'll have to give the Wolfpack campaign another run through. Can't wait to hop in!
  4. I can also confirm this report as well online and offline on the Normandy 2.0 map specifically. I can get repair to work correctly on the Channel map sometimes. Seems pretty consistent to have the gear damaged on Normandy 2.0.
  5. Great post! Definitely should be stickied up top somewhere in the forums for when the setting of infinite numbers of custom gun convergences inevitably comes back up again.
  6. I have the same issue as well
  7. For the early -30 I arm the bombs and use the TARGET software to toggle the jettison levers one at time which works about the same as dropping the bombs in series, kinda gives a even spread like dropping in train from the mustang rather than all at once.
  8. Definitely agree would be a great fit for that Normandy 2.0 map!
  9. I also see that as well externally on the gunsight in the same open beta
  10. Don't know about turning off reflections but I would love to get the updated reflections in the Jug as well
  11. Like in aviation the answer depends on what you want to do when the 109 gets on your six. If it's escape, best you can do is max power (manifold and RPM) WEP to get the best acceleration going down hill, hit your max speed, then shallow out the dive and milk the altitude for max speed as long as practical. If you are reducing power you are wasting altitude for power reduction, which wont help your case. If you dive too steeply like was said above the 109 will just simply catch you on the deck when you level off and bleed off your excess dive speed. Of course depending on if it's AI or player, they might lose interest after a long tail chase. If you are going try and scrape off the 109, that's not too hard provided you have altitude to spare. The Jug has great high speed maneuverability where the 109 doesn't. I've found with the AI and most encounters online, above 300mph the jug can handily out turn and out roll a 109k4. So back to your diving scenario with the 109k4 on your six, if you initiate a rolling scissors going downhill you will definitely get him off your six in a couple of rotations, even better is to get him vertically pointed down and fast. Once this happens, you can use the Jugs best ability, which is to bleed speed and turn onto him while he tries to reverse course out of the vertical dive. You can also get him into a high speed turning match provided you have the altitude to dip into to maintain your speed and point your guns at him in a few turns. Not to say the Jug is a slouch slow speed fighting either especially with flaps but if you are fighting a player, a good 109 pilot is going to be able to get above you and when you are slow you don't have a lot of options when that happens. Flying the P-47, think straight lines and gentle turns (less than 2G's or you bleed speed in longer maneuvers) until you are ready to strike, then you can crank into the high G maneuvers that bleed your speed that you shepherded by flying gently. The catch is once you've blown your speed it takes altitude or time to get back after you strike, so make sure you have one or the other in reserve.
  12. Would be cool to have but with the current assets we have would it really be effective on anything other than infantry?
  13. Nice work, I hopped on this late this evening and had no shortage of action even though the server was pretty light on players...a side effect of having kids and waiting for bed lol. I wasn't even aware that was enabled on the server before, I prefer it off especially when you have radar reports to get in the vicinity of the action anyway. Thanks for the updates!
  14. Yeah they need to have all API belts added to the load outs of the mustang and jug. It was definitely used in the 8th and 9th AF that way historically [see many encounter reports and group biographies] Different groups varied on using tracers or not but it should be just as effective as the other loadouts since AP was deemed less effective than API in an air to air role...most WWii single engine fighters didn't carry a lot of armor that needed penetrating. The all api belt with no tracers and and an all tracer api belt should be more accurate then a mix of tracer and no tracer since the tracer round has a different trajectory than the no tracer round at range. So in that respect logically a tracerless all api belt would be more effective than a mixed belt in regards to accuracy.
  15. Wow, nice shots! I haven't even looked this close before. Usually miss this detail zipping around at 300 mph, maybe time for a Sunday drive
  16. I got home and ran the latest update 2.7.16.28157 and have had no problems now unless I intentionally abuse the engine to breaking. I have been running WEP for dogfights and cruising afterwards with no issues. I ran the tracks that I had previously recorded the issue on and the engine ran fine the entire time, which it didn't previously do so and I got the "engine degraded" failure. As a side note, I noticed I can run the oil cooler a lot more closer to neutral as well and the oil temperature more readily/believably stays in the green even at combat power, it seemed previously to be more arbitrarily linked to airspeed and not power settings and airspeeds and I had to run the oil cooler more open all the time even at lower power settings....it might just be a placebo effect or the fact i missed a couple of updates being gone for a while. So hopefully this is one bug that has been squashed. Thanks for looking into it! The P-47 is by far my favorite warbird in the sim.
  17. It has gotten better. Last I was home I managed to use WEP and the engine held up, the next sortie I did a similar run but slightly closed the oil cowl to just open of neutral to set cruise power and a few minutes later I got a 'degraded engine when I get home again ill see what I can do about a track. Doesnt seem to happen if I just leave the oil full open.
  18. Any update on when this might be included in game?
  19. Wow awesome story and a great parallel to real life. The jug is by far my favorite module by ED. Its got a lot of character in the flight model compared to other warbirds in my opinion. Definitely very unique in the handling with that massive torque from the giant prop and engine.
  20. I usually have elevator trim mapped to the Joy_Slider2 axis (gray slider) on the Warthog throttle. It has worked like a charm until DCS 2.7.10.18996 Open beta. I have no trouble trimming nose heavy but cannot get anything beyond neutral now for tail heavy no matter how I map it or adjust the saturation of the curves in game or through TARGET. It works fine with mapping to buttons on the joystick hat but not for an axis to trim tail heavy. I prefer the axis since I know where the trim is just by tactile feel and not having to look at the trim indicators, any chance we could get that restored? Edit... I tested on the P51 and i use the same axis for elevator trim and it works correctly. The P-47 almost seems like the movement on the elevator trim control isn't allowing the axis the full aft travel, the center is somewhere between nose heavy and neutral and the travel seems limited to the forward half of the trim range.
  21. This is the bothersome part, its hard to pin down what is causing the "degradation." Seems like no matter if you baby or abuse it, sometimes the engine ticks on sometimes it decides to pack up.
  22. Maybe they could work out a Razorback Pack and have the p47 and p51b included and sell it as a module to recoupe the modelling cost.
  23. Yep generator comes right on after start. This problem seems to manifest air start or ground start, doesnt seem to matter.
  24. Yeah just a quick airtart dogfight against 4 k4s. Yeah its funny on storm of war ive had the same plane for 5 or 6 sorties and not had any issue with WEP usage all the way to drying up the water tank and others where even a minute of usage will result in the engine dipping suddenly audibly and a slow uncontrollable rise in oil temp and loss of power. It seems to happen if I baby or abuse the engine, doesnt seem to matter.
  25. Nope I'm well aware of cutting the throttle and incurring bearing damage which is very distinct. All those questions you ask are answered in the roughly three minute track I posted. Yeah you are right 64" is max, fat fingered the post i guess. I get this failure when the oil cooler is open or neutral, it doesn't seem to matter which is what is perplexing to me. I kind of suspect the oil temp gauge may be lagging or reading incorrectly but i don't have the under the hood sim knowledge or diagnostic damage model tools like nineline or yoyo would to make a call like that. If it was as simple as RTFM that would be one thing but i get the same message and failure at different times, sometimes during WEP usage for a minute, sometimes well after and I am cruising away and at cruise power setting with the temps in the green. What is doubly perplexing is i can run the engine full WEP for 15 mins and have no problems at all sometimes, the only limiting factor is they dont refill the water injection at re arm and refuel.
