  1. Well the magic of AMD cards is, that you can set +50% power limit, then undervolt it, and run it at similar wattage as with balanced settings. :)
  2. 4K combined with 2xAA ... those are good results. :) Do you really need AA at 4K though? What screen size do you have?
  3. Asrock Taichi has one of best feature sets and VRMs. You will be able to fit even the upcoming 12/16 cores in it and have no problems with power.
  4. I would consider buying Radeon VII only when non reference cards will be released. Or when water blocks will be available. The reference cooler is not good. I have bought Vega from Sapphire and it was the best possible choice as people suggested, the cooler is just so good. All other brands like Gigabyte, Asus, etc. had problems with non reference cards where the coolers were not designed well with having hot spots that could kill the cards if you were unlucky, something similar that the new 2000 series from nvidia suffer from.
  5. I can second that. I have once experienced 1080p on my 1440p monitor by mistake with one game, and all I could think about was how BAD the game looks until I've noticed that I'm not playing in native resolution.
  6. No longer true, I have the Vega for a year now and I had only once a bad experience where clean installation of the drivers solved the problem. The drivers are really good now, they are always ready for new games also, new releases every month. The feature set and quality of life features are night and day compared to nvidia. When I compare it to my experience with nvidia drivers when I had 980ti, I have bricked my computer 3 times before I just stopped installing new drivers altogether and opted only for those that I really needed. Maybe I have joined nvidia club in a bad year, I do not know, but it was awful. I had AMD graphic before that and had no problem but at that time I was not installing official drivers but Omega package, that does not exist anymore if I'm not mistaken.
  7. He is spot on with the AMD drivers. They are SO GOOD. When I have switched from nvidia to AMD, it was the first thing that made me so satisfied with the switch. Also how easy it is now to undervolt the cards with new drivers is just mind blowing.
  8. Ryzen benefits a lot from faster RAM. https://tekeverything.com/ryzen-ram-test-2400mhz-vs-3000mhz/
  9. Ray Tracing will not see any major adopting until consoles will support it, which requires AMD and Microsoft/Sony cooperation. From what I've seen so far, the main goal of new consoles is 4K/30-60fps, I do not see a way how they could combine that with ray tracing in mind. It will probably take next generation (not refresh) of GPUs to handle that comfortably in 1440p. I'm all for it, ray tracing is the future of photo realistic graphics, but it will take time and mainly it will be good only for some games, you probably do not want RT in everything...
  10. My avatar is ready for this beauty. Razbam, hurry up! :D
  11. I have Vega 64 and I'm playing DCS on High/Ultra in all settings in 1440p with no issues at all. I'm getting fps capped to my monitors refresh rate of 75Hz while in flight. At ground it's worse where I see dips down to 40-50 fps on busy missions but as I use Freesync it does not bothers me. I think I'm mainly CPU bound in DCS, i7 4790K is starting to show it's age even though it's very good CPU, running a lot of things in background is noticeable... like trackir, all sort of game store launchers, chrome etc. So if Radeon VII is pure improvement on performance, power efficiency, memory bandwidth, its pure win for me. Playing with voltage on Vega is great and it will be even better on VII.
  12. This is very interesting. I must say that I'm looking forward to how it will pan out. Coming from the same spot as many will in this case, the most problematic part of getting into DCS and what puts a lot of "mainstream" players off, is the crudeness of the first experience. The first setup is just too much for regular players. There are no basic controller or joystick presets which is the worst part, axis assignments all over the place, cross assigned buttons from several devices etc. The first experience is bad for spoiled gamers like I was once too. Edit: Also considering adding a tutorial "Teach me the absolute basic of how to DCS" should be considered. Explaining what are the general shortcuts for basic controls, how flying works, how radios should be used, basic taxiing logic ... etc. You should know that new players do not read manuals much... also its a hell of a struggle to find a manual for DCS, they are very well hidden. They should be accessible from the main menu and from inside of the airplanes too.
  13. I'm looking forward to try it. Thank you. :)
  14. Do you know of any game that was ported to Vulkan? I know only of Dx12 ports. Most games that are only "ported" indeed have no performance improvements or even regressions, but if you build the game around it from the beginning or take the work to optimize for it, you can see huge improvements. See the new Doom game for example. Build with vulkan in mind from the beginning and you can have superb performance with little to no downsides even in 4K.
  15. I suppose this has something to do with the Vulkan implementation. They do not want to do the same work twice in case of new shaders.
  16. I wish you the best with the remaining work. The finishing crunch & polish is the hardest and its better to wait a bit more than to have a bad launch.
  17. This applies to the new customers too. Imagine that you would buy KA-50 as your first module in DCS (I did 4 years ago). Wouldn't it be a let down for you if you would find out that it looks bad?
  18. The problem comes in multiplayer where you cannot spot enemies as labels are not allowed in multiplayer. You are on big disadvantage with VR there. Nobody is disputing the fact that VR is the best for immersion. :)
  19. I'm so glad to see new people finding their way into DCS. It so much reminds me of myself when I have found about DCS being a thing. The HW upgrades that followed were massive. :) TrackIr is the best thing before you will be ready to invest in a VR setup. To be honest VR has still a long way to go to be viable in Multiplayer dogfights, the power it needs from GPU is not yet there to support 2 x 4K displays. Welcome to the community.
  20. Well sure, they had to use ED's API to implement it, so yes, it is based on ED's DCS tech, but not related to their upcoming radar tech. Its completely possible and feasible that when ED will present their radar tech, the API will get a complete set of new features that will be possible to call and enable Heatblur to improve upon their own tech.
  21. It's their own tech unrelated to ED's one.
  22. Huh, it can get even better? :) It looks like I should try the Viggen out already.
  23. I think it may be very similar to a theory how clutch in car works and then trying to use it in car on your own. ... except for all you who use automatic gears! :D
  24. Sad to hear this. But if you are sure that nothing was violated, every video was approved. What are you afraid of? The rest of the community would support you.
  25. If you will be playing again Mover, give the trackir some more time, it takes time to get used to it. It's also possible to be used with headphones and different type of tracker. The sensitivity is completely modifiable. Or maybe you will not play ever again? :) I suppose the flight sim experience is simply inferior to the real thing. Although you could fly your "dream" scenarios in DCS that you could not in real life, or even try another air plane you did not fly. Good video with a lot of insight from real live.
