I sometimes whish I had gone for that to mate..! LoL.. Because this pitbuild is going TO TAKE A LOT OF TIME.. And allthough I love the prosess of it I will have to build it modular so I'll be able to start flying the Sim before the Pit is finished.. Being a Frog pilot as well, I have started some thoughts on making a "Desktop snap-on" pit for flying the Su-25.. Nothing fancy, just a second monitor behind a semiscale front with the basic panels.. And the Cougar with extension and throttle like I use now.. :joystick: I've made some scetches of it.. Maybe I'll post them later.. But Thanx mate.. I need all the encouragement I need to pull this of.. LoL:smartass: -

... Santa came early this year..! Just a quick update of the next panel building. I am not happy with the exactness of the panelbuilding, so I joined forces with my neighbor and started a parallel project to improve the build.. Here is the panel before I have done much to make it look "good"..: (the white fields will be milled out and 7-segment displays will be placed there to show the channel numbers. NOTE: This Panel has since been discarded for a new one buildt up from 1mm aluminium base and three layers of 2mm Plexiglass with print between the two top layers.. Pics later tonight..! (paint must dry first) And here's what "Santa Claus" delivered in the post today..! Maybe a little "rock-and-roll" for the pit will be nice..? And this is for our other project: Anyone care to guess what it is for..?:music_whistling: -

.. You know what I wish for for Christmas dudes..? A complete video that show all the most important switches and triggers in the cockpit.. Nothing fancy or anything, just a tiny little thing that will clear some of the guesswork and confusion out of my head..! Say for instance the weapons controll panel, APU panel, the one next o it and the one below it.. Because those are the ones I am building now.. Just some schematics that say "trigger no1. toggle 3-way normal center" or "trigger no2. 4-way, one up center, three down paralell, normal up position".. I know I am asking for A LOT from you guys now.. So if you feel the need to just ignore me.. please do! And consentrate on what we're all bugging you about.. releasetime! but I thought I'd ask just in case.. -

Garage..! GARAGE..! I Live In NORWAY..! I'de be turned into a snowman in about 20 minutes out there.. Bbbbrrr.. (hmmm nice callsign for a northerner BTW..) Nope mate.. This is my playground now that the Su-25 Pit has been taken apart in favour of the KA-50.. Ps. I'm not married... You flirt..!:megalol: Tanx man.. It really means a lot for me getting positive feedback from you.. motivation and all you know..! "Ferocious" from now on known as "man with heary palms.. LMAO:lol: -
I just love the Su-25 series aircraft. And I for one would set asisde building the KA-50 Pit if there was a fully operational Su-25 cockpit. Even as a LOFC add-on (and yes..I WOULD pay for it.) I while ago I came across a french dokument that had ALL, and I mean ALL, the switches in the Su-25A Cockpit explained. So either the secresy of the pit's functions can't be that tight, or someone had a great deal of imagination when he wrote it.. Being under the understanding that the A-10 fully operational pit is forthcoming. And also knowing we have some "more than half decent" programmers in our comunity, I proporse that we try work with what we have and make the "frog-A" a semi functional cockpit? The plans for a simple "clip-on-desk" two monitor, two pc's hybryd cockpit is in my planbook already. The project was halted when I found that the left panels controlling the electrics, APU, Radios, NAV systems (Why in the name of whoever did they those to leave out the "go-around-left" or "go-around-right" functions on the 25's HSI I will never never understand..? Because that would make egressing to do another attack so much easyer.. So all you programmers out there.. how about going forwards with a goog example..? Ps. mayby this should be posted on the lockon forum...? PPs. I'll attach the previously mentioned document as soon as I get home.. And here are the first 5 pages:

Cyclick Stick This is how I plan my Cyclic stick to work.. Quite simple once you have the handle to hack.. But the triggers are giving me a headache already.. The box will look like this: And stuck ontop of my already hacked old Thrustmaster I plan to achieve a result looking like this: Whish me luck guys..! Anyone got some detailed pics of the trigger mechanism out there..? It shure wuold help me a lot if I had that..?:helpsmilie: -
... Oh yes ..! Oh yes..! I flight dynacs video would be sooo cool.. And If you show the stick/collective/pedal movement in just ONE of the manouvers that would tell a lot about the general characteristics (probably not the right way to spell it.. but my head went blank) it would tell us a lot about how the chopper feels... Say for instance during take-off, and final approach and a hammerhead turn...?

Collective Box and started Hacking the Cyclic Stick Just a quick uodate before I go to bed.. The basics of the Collective Control Box is done now. Just waiting for the more than helpfull people at Thrustmasters Support department. They are sending me the required Collie hats for both the Cyclic and Collective.. And as far as going the extra mile to help a customer they sure take 1st price.. So to all of them.. Thank you!:thumbup: I have finished the collective rod as well, it just doesn't show on the picture. Next to the box is what will eventually be the cyclic stick. Anyone recognize it? Yup it's an old Thrustmaster stisk I had in a drawer all forgotten.. With a new top (I'll make fibreglass molds for that), and new triggers, I hope it will resemble the real one quite well.. PS.! All the parts are in theyr Rawest form now. Still have to do some work with filler, sanding, surfacing and painting to have them look really good.. But at least I have passed the second milestone in my project. (the first was making the modules and seat basics) I have done a rough estimate as far as time goes. Phuuh.. At this pace, and If i want to keep my social life The full Cockpit will be 100% done in 3 years time.. Not that I care though.. The process of learning new skills and "plan-execute-evaluate" prosess is more than rewarding in it self.. Just building my own collective (and cyclic stick) has made me come a lot closer to the KA-50. It's really an paradox of a machine. The ultimate proff that the "east" went theyr own way in building aircraft, and now I am not shure who I would bet my money on anymore.. I might just be going RED here.. And I used to think the F-18 was the best plane EVER..! naah.. Strap me in a 'frog' and send me on my way.. I'll return full of holes and grinning from ear to ear.. So please... hurry with my Ka-50..? I miss it so allready..! And I havent even tried it yet.. LMAO -

Building pictures of the Collective Box After throwing away at least 5 different versions of the collective switch box I have finally found a size that will work with my small hands.. Basicly the box is buildt with 6mm wood-fibre plates that I get for free from a wood store locally (they use it to wrap secure and protect other things during shipping. And chuck it away when they unpack the loads). The 2mm aluminium plates are quite soft and easy to work with. I used a hacksaw with an aluminium blade to cut them out. And bendt them to the correct angle by hand on the edge of a table. A belt sander (handheldt one) is probably the powertool I have had most use for when building the box. All sides where cut approx 2mm to big, and sanded to shape after fixing them together with white-glue and wood-pegs (toothpics). I used tooth-pics because I didn't want any screwheads to show after the final assembly.. The box with all its holes for the switches And this is how I have made it.. The end result will look like this -

Workoing on the front pedestal now.. I have decided to make the front panel as a 3-piece panel. With leftside, center panels and ringht side with AFIS and the gauges. As soon as the drawings are finalized (.. and by that I mean drawings done, pedestal and panel built, and I have made sure that this setup actually works) I will post the drawings here.. But if you use a program other than Solidworks, please let me know, so I can convert the files to your likings. It will however take me about another week to do this. The other panels will follow as they are done.. Have a nice weekend.. c",) -

Sorry for taking forever to answer mate... I have been out of town for a short while. The drawings are all made on Solidworks 2007. I just love this CAD software.. Have used AutoCAD and TurboCAD earlier, but nothing can hold a candle to Solidworks if you ask me.. It's kinda "different" to use compared to the other two, but as far as planning a pit it is all I ever wanted..
