Hey Rocketeer.. I found the documents on building instruments we talked about the other day..! It should answer all the questions you had I hope.? I am reaching the final stages of building the Left Rear Wall with Collective and Rotorhead Speed Governor controls.. I'll post pictures and drawings as soon as I get home from work today..! Been a while since the last update now, but I have been really busy having fun Snow-Kiting.. Just came down from the the mountains today at 04:00 in the morning after being stuck up there in a storm almost all weekend. . . :music_whistling: Here are some pics of the adventure: Cold as h... after the first day of kiting in pretty strong winds and snow.. See the satisafied look on my face..? I don't either.. LoL Carrying the kite out to launch.. Some really nasty winds picked up just after this. And A friend of mine managed to crash he's kite into the Panorama window of the hotel.. Scaring up all the guests and almost breaking a 2x3 meter window.. Sunday we were more or less forced to stay indoors.. (or they at least asked us if we would be so kind to.. And we disregarded it politely) After the weather got really bad, and we got the word that the road on both sides were closed because of avalaches and bad weather. We had a game of waiting.. and waiting.. and waiting.. And late at night the snow clearing crew managed to clear the roads from snow and came to pick us up and escort us down to the coast again.. This pic is from we had been showeling for hours to get our cars cleared of snow, and were lined up behind a snowplow truck awaiting our return home again.. It was all good fun..! And I'm going back next weekend..! Now It's time to clear my desk and get home for some pitbuilding again.. L8R..!:pilotfly: -

that's wierd.. I see it..? -
I should say Pitbuilding, but allthough it takes up much of my time these days, I have would have to calll it a passion rather than a hobbie..! LoL My hobbies on the other hand are KiteSurfing (or snowkiting now that we're supposed to have winter here). Started skydiving back in -94, and Paragliding came natural after that.. And tomorrow I'm having my first go at SpeedGliding... AND I CAN HARDLY WAIT..! A friend of mine from France came up to visit, and brought this cool new sport to my attention.. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z25PBj3YlCE . (not that I'll go down the Eiger any time near... LMAO.. And being a Norwegian it's skiing, skiing and skiing naturally.. and work and women... IN that order I might add...

Here are my thoughts of how it MIGHT be..! I may have double-posted this, since I kinda screwed it up last time.! It seems to have some kind of "fail-safe" to prevent pilots from firing Pylons and cannon at once by mistake.. Input people..! Anyone..!:helpsmilie: -

Serious dilemma here.. I have found out by watching videos on youtube till my eyes are red and sore, that the Ka-50 has two triggers up front of the cyclic.! One I guess is for the Cannon and the other for payloads. But apart from the pic below I have no idea how it looks or works.! Please anyone..? -

I just can't seem to find an simple DIY desing that actually feels like a switch. It's either to loose or to hard to use... But I have done what this group is for, and asked for help ..! Update is coming as soon as I can be sure that it is the final functioning version.. -

Update Pics 24. january 2008 APU Panel is nearing it's final stage of building. I opted for a backlighted version of it, since the simulator has this feature. The seperate layers.. Backplate with the 3mm plate that keep the backlight constrained to the text areas. A quick look at what it will look like when done. I'll paint all external surfaces with dull black paint after a final fitting and some sanding. I just love these LED fixtures.. makes the whole thing come togehter so nice..! -

......."Comba'ya my lord"..! That's a two way street my friend..! If it wasn't for your work I would NEVER have attempted to build an as true to scale as possible cockpit..! your work inspired me, and it makes me happy to hear that our work inspires you..! But before we all start holding hands and sing "Comba'ya my lord", here's what we discussed the other day for the "right feel" click..! I bought a sheet of 0,2mm copper from a hardware store and I im going to cut out the ... well see for yourselves: I might make the attachment plate of it a two-layer just to keep the rigidity.. ! HPO: I have e-mailed the assembly file to your MSN adress. Please knock ourselves out on it and return it with your improvements.. -

You are right..! I have tested both one and two now. And the best is something in the middle like you say..! Having a hard time finding a way to get the right feel to it though.. The mechanical setup with a spring-loaded shaft solloution is REALLY hard to make .. working on it though..! -

How does the 4-way switch move guys..? Any ideas? First alternative is that it has to go back to it's center position like this: Or does it have the ability to go from one corner to the other like this: (i am hoping for alternative two.. It'll make building it a lot easyer..) -

Thanx mate..! Things finally started to lossen up a bit as far as building spped goes.. You're quite right.. I'll make sure to turn it arround in the drawings.. It's still not the final version of the 4-way though.. I still have to finish building the damn thing. And make sure it actually works AND feels right..! -
.. having read what the Foghter Ops guys are writing I'm left wondering..? Allthough I completly understand the importency of not leaking software under development, and absolutely agree in the pursiut of plugging such leaks, I just don't get the overrall tone in what they write..? It might be because I'm not one of those with English as my first language ? Or because it's late now, and I should maybe have gone to bed.? But I don't see what the motivation behind posting a general information post like this, and then filling it with a tone that implies that all us DCS members carry a grudge towards Fighter Ops is..? (looong sentence there.. must slow down..) I think we all agree on the fact that Fighter Ops has a lot of potential and the work done so far is impressive. And who amonst us can say that we probably will not Buy&Try Fighter Ops when it's finally released..? Not a whole lot of us can I'm guessing..? So why the tone..? I just don't get it..?

APU/Engine Start Up Panel Building it..! Yeah yeah.. I know..! I dumped the last APU panel in the trash can after looking once more at my choise of building matereal and general finish..! So I thought I would come up with a plan for building ALL the panels. And just change the dimentions and layout..! just to speed up the building prosess a bit.. Well here's the APU Panel in it's parts: All the layers in working order. 1st. A 1mm aluminium plate to attach the switches to. 2nd. Two 3mm PP Plates that will give the 3D effect and build the APU Panel i little higher. 3rd. A 2mm PP plate that will be used to attach the Cyrillic lettering on, and to strenghten the panel bu making a Box Construction. 4th. A 1mm PP plate that mask off the lettering. (and maybe the backilghting to) The Alu plate and the unfinished 3mm middle plate. As you see I just glue the prints to the plates for more easy sanding and drilling. The two to layers.. ( All of the layers will be painted dull black before assembling) The 15x30mm Warning light is made up from strips that I cut 20mm wide, and then just cut and glued together like a box. The top is a 1mm plexiplate that will hold the colored print behind it. It will all be lighted by a 5V LED of the right color (green I think..?) Well I am going to make some printable drawings from my own now. And post it here later on.. If you want the drawings in an other format than PDF just PM me. And I'll gladly share it ..! :smartass: -
I her 'Ya..! Oh boy do I hear 'Ya..! I talked to my Ex-Wife yesterday, and she brought up stuff I (according to her recolection) said 4 years ago..! And clamed that us men are unable to comunicate with women in general..! That being said, The only words I got in was a " you don't say..?" and a ".. sigh.." at the end of the conversation.. I say we go for the old tested-and-tried-out method of: - " Honey..? I was thinking just now about something.? And I would really ilke to hear your thoughts about this..! We have some money to spare this month, so I was wondering if I should go out and get some crystal 'meth, or just go out in the garage and tinker with my Cockpit..? What do you think...? BTW.. you look lovely in that gravy-stained robe....!" :music_whistling:

Final assmbly of the Ka-50 Cockpit Having been out of town I haven't had time to finish the Stick yet. But I have found time to work on the final assembly drawings for the cockpit. And here they are so far: -
I have tried to figure this question oyt since the document was translated to english (from french) about a year ago..? My guess, from a lack of more correct info about the "vanilla", is that IF it has an autopilot it only works as an attitude hold. Meaning that it will keep the plane at it's current pitch-yaw-roll angles. The other options (like "go-around left/right) refere to what the HSI shows.! By that I mean that if you select the "go-around left" mode, the HSI wil point you to a coure that will lead you to the previous waypoint on the left side of the pre-programed course. I really wish someone would figure out a way to program this function into an add-on like LOVP+LOSIOC or simular. It must be possible to do?

Ka-50 Cyclic Stick update Well here's a short updte so far: I started up with making a plug from foam.. Then Some fibregalss was bonded onto it with exopy resin: After it had hardened I riugh sanded the outside and poured gasoline into the foam to remove it... The result was that all the foam got eched away and left the inside like this: The remianing resin on the inside was soft and could be sraped/sanded out by hand. Leaving the inside looking like this: A quick test-fit on the stick: Now I have given the box a thin coat of black paint, just to see the rough spots better.. It's drying right now, so I'll start sanding, and adding some epoxy filler tonight. Then I'll add some reinforment fibreglass strips to the weak spots on the inside, cut out the upper accsess hatch and bonding in strips of wood to attach it with screws. And finally make the wall to mount the switches and coolie hats on. More as it comes along.. -
