Feedback and General Questions for Video Updates
xoxen replied to Groove's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I believe the crashes have not been DCSW 2.0 related. Everytime when the stream continued he did not start from the beginning. It seems that the stream itself caused the issues, respectively TwitchTV. Just my 2 Cents. By the way, in my opinion the Live Stream was amazing and I hope this will be continued the same way soon and frequently. Good job Wags and ED. -
Upgrading from GTX760 to GTX970, tips?
xoxen replied to OnlyforDCS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Deezle, many thanks for the input. This is exaclty what I wanted to hear ;) Even though the GTX 970 would be great to have the GTX 760 is only 1,5 years in my rig. I´m running 3 Displays as well but the Cockpit is only on one, the rest is for Helios and MFCDs. Yesterday I found a post at SimHQ where someone moved from GTX 670 to GTX 970 with a i7 2500K (I´m at work and the link is firewalled, but I belive it is this one http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4026896/GTX_670_upgrade_to_GTX_970). His DCS A-10C Benchmark showed appr. 15 FPS more with the GTX 970. Hmm. Doesn´t matter if we talk about 45 vs. 60FPS but there I saw min. FPS 25 vs. 40. Anyway, I believe I save the money for the time being and will think about an update later on. I hate my undecidedness...... -
Upgrading from GTX760 to GTX970, tips?
xoxen replied to OnlyforDCS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I´m on the way to upgrade my PC. My actual one is in the Sig and I wanna go to a i7 4790K. As I own a GTX 760 already I´m interested in the difference between the 760 anf the 970 in DCS. Should I spent the extra 350,-€ or should I stay at the existing one and simply enjoy the extra power of the CPU. I´m playing DCS only.....any comment would be great. Xoxen P.S.: Could think about a Warthog if I skip the 970.....arghh.....hard decision. -
For me statistics like hours flown and kills/crashes etc. would be enough. When I switched to Multiplayer I totally lost overview of flown hours. Rating isn´t important for me as I never would be inside of the top ten ;)

Quick question about the Strait of Hormuz theater
xoxen replied to BlackLion213's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Same for me. Funny, this morning I told my 9 year old son about the time I ordered F-19 for the C-64. I ordered it with express delivery and the postman already came before I had to go to school that day. Hard day in school as you can imagine ;) I expect it was one of the longest ones I ever had...... Xoxen -

TMS up short to bring it from area to point track mode and then TMS up long to make it your SPI. Hope I got the question right. Xoxen

Advice from former Cougar, now Warthog owners!
xoxen replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks, this also directs me more and more into the Warthog direction. I also found some older threads in other forums saying the same. Actually my wife is the only one who is not convinced so far (something I didn´t take into consideration), even though your arguments are brilliant and I used them ;) -
Advice from former Cougar, now Warthog owners!
xoxen replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi mrwell, many thanks for the writing. This is exactly the type of feedback I would like to listen to. Even though it is the more expensive way to go ;) Unfortunately I missed the weekend sale but now I can start thinking more precisely :) Many thanks again and it´ll be great to listen to some more experiences. Xoxen -
Hi Folks, I´m actually thinking about buying a Hotas Warthog. There is a sale at Amazon Germany for 270,-€ which is quite "cheap". But is it worth it? I'm flying A-10C only. Actually I have a Hotas Cougar with Magoo´s Mod which makes it nearly without any play and also nearly no wear. It is in perfect shape, so this does not justify the invest (beside of this I have a lot of spare parts like springs, every knob etc. just for the case....) So I would like to know more about the way the Warthog performs compared to the Cougar. The detailed question is if I will see an "Ahhhh!!!!"-Effect in regards to sensitivity/accuracy? I have played around a lot with courves and in general I´m satisfied with my Cougar. The question is if I will see an advantage e.g. in AAR with the Warthog as it might be more precise? It´ll be great to get some answers from someones who made this step already as 270,-€ is cheap for the Warthog but are still 270,-€! And I own a great piece of Hotas already. Thanks in advance and all the best, Xoxen

I found this in the DCs A-10C Manual: "At the delivery of the 100th A-10A, the Pentagon christened the aircraft the Thunderbolt II. However, in the tradition of the F-84 nickname "Groundhog", the F-84F "Superhog" and the F-105 "Ultra-Hog", the A-10A community nicknamed the A-10A the "Warthog" or just "Hog" for short. This nickname tradition coupled with the not-so-graceful lines of the A-10A was quite apt." I believe the more you watch at the bird the more beautiful it gets. Was the same for me. Now I love it :)

Very funny. Was playing around with this yesterday evening as well. Found a good head position but this screws my view onto the HUD. So others have this issue as well. Good to know but bad to have no good solution. The head position more close to the seat is kind of better flight feeling as I can see more of the pit and the ground. But the HUD isn't what I expected to see. Even though it might be realistic it would be great to have control on that as well. Have a great weekend, Roland

I did it with two....?!

For me adjusting the curves was the key to success as well. I also had trouble to stay calm behind the tanker. Now I adjusted my curves to be less sensitive in the center. Especially the throttle curve, to be more accurate in the "center", helps me to stay at the correct speed and it only make small inputs. I have to mentikon I´m using the Hotas Cougar. What I heard from my flight mates the Warthog is better in this matter. I´m trying to AAR since 3 months and can get the tank filled up (from 2x1000lbs left) using 8-10 connections. Still too much time and not combat ready, but it is a good feeling to leave the tanker with a full tank (instead of shooting him down because of high amount of frustration). Xoxen out

@Retsilf: Vielen Dank.

Live Fire Exercise - A-10C/KA-50
xoxen replied to StrongHarm's topic in User Created Missions General
Hi StrongHarm, thanks for the advice. When I calculate 574/8 I get an appr. upload speed of 71kb/s. 14.336 (14MB) / 71 = 202 seconds --> appr 3,4 Minutes. As we were three people, two were loading from my PC. So it could fit to wait more than 5 Minutes. We will give it a try to load it in SP first and then fire it up the MP. Good advice, thanks for this. I will post if we finally made it and how we like this Mission. Thanks and have a great day, Xoxen -
