  1. Guile I did a short VR video for you and your boys. It is not really demonstrating much. Just showing you what each cockpit looks like in all the DCS WW2 birds. Gives you an idea of the office space in each bird and maybe help you decide which one you would like to start with first in VR. I have to say, I am partial to the Mustang and Spit. I LOVE the Jug but have a hard time getting over the P-51 and Spitfire. This will not be the case when the F-4U Comes out. I grew up around 6 Whistling Deaths and watched them fly all the time over my Grandfathers house. She is and always will be my first Crush. I just hope she is done correctly. You will be seeing a lot of videos on her when she is finally released. For anyone reading this, my FPS is not bad in game with the PIMAX VR. It runs decent on the highest settings but ED has a ways to go before VR is where it needs to be. I am really hoping Vulcan will help in this department when it is released. The VR videos I upload appear choppier than they really do in game. I have not found a way around this when recording or uploading. I will still play no other way though. Once you play in VR, DCS is not the same any other way. I cannot recommend it enough.
  2. Any new updates from 5.6? Wondering when he will have a webpage. I like many others have had issues locating the most current version on discord. Having it posted on the first page when it is updated has been nice.
  3. You honestly cannot go wrong with any of them. I am a Navy guy myself so I spend most of my time in the Tomcat or Hornet. If not those two then any of the WW2 birds. F-16 is fantastic but I need ALOT more practice on air to air refueling. Black Shark is still the best combat helo until the Hind is released Q1 of next year. I have to give love to the Gazelle though because I grew up around her. Love that module. GREAT in VR. Huey is still my favorite helo so far until the Cobra makes the scene. We have some big contenders coming to the show soon. F-15E, Eurofighter, Apache, A-7 Corsair, F-8 Crusader. My dream plane hopefully will hit next year, the F-4U Corsair. Grew up around 6 of them and watched them fly as a kid all the time. DCS is where it is at. No sim rivals it in my opinion. Hands down best combat/study flight sim available. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the modules or would like me to take one for a run in VR and post a video for you.
  4. Guile, Really glad you liked the video brother. My video card I am running is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti on an Intel i9-9900K. 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 Dominator Platinum RGB ram. 885GB SSD. Primarily all DCS. I have all the modules and run Open Beta only. I will make another video soon with the Huey including the map interface a little more. The hangar is the backdrop in the VR menu. It would be cool if they implemented something different in game. You can go to my channel and check out my F-14 landings on the Super Carrier in VR. I use the kneepad to look at LSO grades. It is a really cool function in VR Heatblur has implemented. Not a 100% sure what the bright spot is in the NVG's. It appeared after I opened up the map and then closed it. Does not happen often but I think it is a bug in game. Either way, it is not a huge deal. Feel free to share any of my videos on your server. I am in this for fun and want to promote DCS to as many people as possible (I do not work for ED or any third party). Just love the hell out of this sim. It is what I dreamed of as a kid and my dream just keeps getting better every year. Have to spread the good times. Here is a quick video doing a frigate landing in VR with the Huey. It is a blast.
  5. Absolutely!!!!!! All 3 rockstars and need to be in DCS. I think it is safe to say the F-4 will make her arrival. Not a matter of if, just when? as far as the Sandy goes, such a great plane!!!! It would work for Korea and Vietnam eras. We have a solid line up if any three of the above make it to DCS.
  6. I agree 100%. I think the Marianas map will be a good filler until the time comes Vietnam is introduced. I am almost looking forward to the hype train as much as I am the content when it actually gets announced. I remember the old Wings over Vietnam game. Loved it for its time. Looking forward to see who picks up the Vietnam map and how big it will be. going back to the F-111, if the aardvark ever makes her debut, we need Northern Vietnam.
  7. Lurker, Just FYI brother, the F-8 Crusader was "The Last Gunfighter". The A-7 Corsair was the "SLUF, Short Little Ugly F***ER". A lot of people get the two aircraft mixed up, probably because of the nose intake. Magnitude 3LLC is doing the Crusader and Flying Iron Simulations is doing the A-7E Corsair II. Cannot wait for both of them. I love the community A-4E Skyhawk but I wish a licensed 3rd party would do one so we have proper flight modeling and comms. The radios do not work and the Carrier ops are sketchy at best. From what I understand, a lot will never be implemented do not having full access to the SDK. I cannot knock them though, they have done an amazing job for what they have been given to work with. A lot of love has gone into this free mod. I still enjoy flying her but I feel naked without the full implementation of some of the systems. Almost forgot to add the F-8 Crusader was an even match against the Mig-21 and Mig-17 over Northern Vietnam. Kill ratio was 6 to 1 and some pilots argued 7 to 1. According to my research, because the lack of BVR capabilities of the F-8, the Crusader had a mature training program for dog fighting and highly emphasized these tactics with the pilots. This coupled with the maneuverability of the aircraft made her a handful for the Migs. She was highly capable with 4 20mm canons and a healthy load of IR missiles. There is a lot of good reading out there on the air war over Vietnam. Cannot wait till this makes it to DCS. The BVR boys will be in trouble. From the sound of it stringent rules of engagement, weather, and long distances flights were a few of the problems US pilots ran into, forcing close 1 on 1 dogfight scenarios with the Migs. It sounds like they had the upper hand on strategizing when to attack US pilots and how much time the US had to engage before heading back do to low fuel ect... One of these days we will see the rice paddies of Vietnam in DCS. There are A LOT of us waiting for that day! Including your fan crew wanting the F-111. F-8 Crusader A-7E Corsair A-4E Skyhawk
  8. Guile, because I care brother and possibly because tonight I am drinking margaritas, slightly intoxicated, and read this post, I decided to create a video flying the Huey in VR for you...........AFTER DARK using NODS. Give the video a little time, I took you on a short tour over Syria while I was waiting on the sun to go down more. I use a Pimax 8K VR. I hope you appreciate the choice of music. It will show my age, however, if you do not know EVERY song in this video, you are not allowed to buy the Huey until you watch every movie. You will respect the Huey more afterwards. Also, I think towards the end there was a minor glitch in the sim. I seem to have got a bright spot in game on my NODS. Not sure why, but it does that every once in a while. I also have another video on my YouTube channel flying the MI8 after dark as well. The night vision on it is different and bad ass! Hope this fires you up for your VR experience. The Hog was the first module I flew in VR. I have not taken the headset off since and will fly DCS no other way. COMPLETELY worth every expensive penny you drop. Wait till you start running carrier ops. LOVE IT!!!!! Can not wait for the Kiowa and Hind either. Us helo boys are ready for a bigger hangar with a wider variety.
  9. I downloaded V5.5 and took her up for a spin over Syria at night in VR as usual. Tested all the interior lighting available as of now. It looks great internally and externally. I time stamped so you can skip ahead to what interest you. The best event that came from this video was hanging out the jump door in VR at night with NOD's on. Looking down was so bad ass. I cannot stress the potential this mod has to change DCS in such a positive way. Really impressed every time I jump into C-130. Looking forward to doing some combat drops and other videos in the near future. Still learning a lot. Performance for me so far has been great. No crash to the desk top yet and running smooth in VR.
  10. This video was taken today prior to seeing the post for v5.5. Did some weapons testing. Looking forward to further development of this mod. Walking to the back of the ramp in VR is so immersive. Going to run some night ops later. Downloading the new version now. OUTSTANDING work Anubis. Can wait to see how far this goes! Time stamps are in the video I posted on YouTube.
  11. Well, I have not seen anyone on YouTube do it yet so I tried it. Took the C-130 up for the first time and my first flight was in VR. I have not seen anyone try standing up and walking to the back of the ramp in flight. Holy shit! What an experience. I never thought I would get this in DCS so soon. This will be a phenomenal mod with friends in multiplayer. I have time stamped the YouTube video I uploaded so you can skip ahead. First was a test walk to the back ramp headed out of Vegas. Second was a walk to the back flying over Creech. So bad ass! I highly highly recommend it. Also be aware of real obstacles in the house. Got to having to much fun and walked into my wife's shelf. A wireless headset would be more ideal to moving around in VR, but damn is it worth it! GREAT job Anubis. PLEASE consider getting a team together to turn this bird into a 3rd party full blown module. I have already heard people who said they would never touch a cargo plane or transport saying they cannot put this down and have become secretly in love with her. Looking forward to future updates and what you might have in store for us. I will post some ground attacks soon in VR. Just got the keys bound today. No issues so far in single player.
  12. To satisfy your hunger for the old girl Lurker, I would not have my feelings hurt one bit if they brought the F-111 to DCS. I must admit, she would be fun running night raids. Also here is a good photo of her with the A-7 which we have coming. They go together like peas in a pod.
  13. There is only one way to deal with what we all want out of this module, go full 3rd party dev! Shit, post a kickstarter campaign or Go fund me and I will throw dollar bills at you like you are on stage. This C-130 module is a must for next years dynamic campaign release. Especially with the intentions and already implementation of the weapons systems. A team of 3 or 4 dudes flying one AC-130 or combat cargo drop on the servers would be the cats ass. Especially night ops and Soar units. I really continue to hope ED is picking up on the community and their interest in this outstanding mod. Keep up the brilliant work Anubis. You got everyone fired up!
  14. Lurker, Hate to burst your bubble brother but here is the exact quote from HB specifically stating themselves this has been under development for sometime now and is being developed with the intent of becoming a full module. They are working towards the license agreement which is the reason for only an AI unit at this time. This was not an enthusiastic fan based rumor we started. This is straight from the horses mouth. And has it been years? Absolutely, only furthering my speculation this is the next module given the fact that it takes a minimum several years to make one to their standards. Not as much as a fart has ever been released about looking at or remotely being interested in making the F-111. I do not want to wash your parade out and I really like the Aardvark, but it would be like me saying the F-105 Thunderchief is what they could be working on next. Legendary aircraft and I want it more than a lap dance, but it is not in the cards at this time. As promised, here is the quote from HB.
  15. Lurker, Please do not buy into Eldur's comment about the Intruder. He/She is not well informed to its performance or role on the battlefield. There is a reason the A-7 Corsair did not carry on the same type of mission the Intruder did, and there was a variant that was outfitted later on in the Gulf War with Sidewinders I believe. Below is a really good documentary with a lot of pilot testimony and video giving a good example of why it was so iconic. Do not get me wrong, I would love to see the Aardvark make her way into the DCS hangar, day 1 buy for me. But given what HB has said in the past, specifically they were building the AI Intruder as if it was going to be a full module, and then the layout and very very close similarities of to the F-14 avionics, I think it is a better bet they will tackle her first. Check out the similarities between the A-6 and F-14 cockpits below.
  16. A few hours ago I was running through a few training missions I had set up on the NTTR map with the F-18. I like to fly them once every other week or so to stay proficient with the air to ground capabilities of the F-18. I started thinking after watching my TacView approaches, I would really like to see my ingress/egress movements mirror the real thing when providing CAS. I know Combined Arms needs to see improvement but in the mean time, I figured I would try to start improving my tactics regarding CAS. After doing a small amount of research online, I actually turned up 3 really good PDF's regarding CAS. They are all older military docs and were free to download. I highly encourage anyone who wants to learn some in depth training regarding CAS to check out the 3 PDF's I attached. VERY long reads, but well worth the time. Especially for those who like to use multiplayer servers and work as a team. These will come in real handy when we get the Apache and Hind in the near future. They cover rotor CAS, artillery support, and fixed wing. Let me know what you guys think and if you have TacView and use any of these tactics, post the videos on here. OBS works real well for recording TacView so you can upload to YouTube. I will try to post a few Tac videos after setting up a few of these approaches. The new grid function on the F-18 will work well with implementing these ground attacks. Any of you who are really good at making missions, please let us know on this thread if you create any using material from these documents. I would like to see some pretty realistic CAS missions come out of this if possible. CAS PDF.pdf CAS 2 PDF.pdf CAS 3 PDF.pdf

  17. I have not been able to locate this video on YouTube yet, but here is the battle stations for the AC-130. This is looking damn good for a mod. I am really hoping this continues to a full fledge module. https://streamable.com/glhhtd
  18. Holy shit this guy needs his own team! Eagle Dynamics really needs to get with Anubis on this mod and release the full potential of the SDK to him. Anubis, get yourself a team together and go full EFM. This video should sell everyone on the reason we need a full C-130 module for the upcoming dynamic campaign. I have no doubt the support from the community is there for a full fidelity C-130. So many options for this module. I would love to see this module taken to its fullest potential.
  19. This really needs to be considered for a 3rd party module Anubis. With the dynamic campaign coming next year, this would be instrumental in deploying assets to the battlefield. Someone has already started combat drops with your mod on YouTube. Because of the way they saved the video I cannot imbed it to view from the forum so here is the link. The roles the C-130 has would really persuade a lot of people to buy it I think. They could include hot combat drops, Insertion/extraction for SF/SEAL units, boat role outs over the sea, close air support with an AC variant, moving troops and supplies to forward deployed bases, French maritime operations including Harpoon and Hellfire use ect..... The dynamic campaign will surely be implementing these tasks to keep the campaign pushing forward. I would like to see these tasks available for a real player to complete with a C-130 module. It would be a perfect fit. Not only that, it would open up air support/intercept missions for other players flying fighters. A lot of good things would come from this module and be challenging. I can only imagine the daunting task of taking this on yourself, but I bet there are people out there willing to assist in making this a full blown product. DCS needs it. Hope this eventually finds its way to a full fledge module like others we have scene do the same. Keep up the amazing work!
  20. Really appreciate the encouragement Jackjack. Todays traps were not the prettiest. I will however say I have found yet another tool that works really well on improving your launches, patterns, and approaches. TacView. I finally bought it last night and I am kicking my own ass for not buying it long before now. Between TacView, the nee board HB provides, and the LSO grades I have a pretty good toolbox going on here. Did some dog fighting in the F-86 this morning and the feedback/self debrief I got off of TacView will forever change how I fight in DCS/air combat. I am looking forward to reviewing all my flights now with this software. I literally spent over an hour analyzing where I made mistakes and watching the opposing Migs performance. For those interested, the dog fight was single player and TacView works phenomenal for it. In this video below, I did 2 passes at the carrier. My TacView debrief is at the end. Time stamps are provided in the video to click on to skip ahead. I have created this mission specifically for getting a feel for distance on downwind, bas, final, and 3/4 approach. The two destroyers on either side of the carrier are placed at 1.4mi, the destroyer furthest back is 1 mile off the stern of the carrier, and the one in between is 3/4 off the stern. I know this is not a normal fleet configuration, but it works good for learning and remembering distances in relations to the carrier. As always, I encourage people to post on here. Looking forward to the A model coming on the 19th! You can guarantee I will be testing her out. LSO Grade GRADE:C:LULX 3PTSIW WIRE# 4 GRADE Cut. Unsafe. Gross deviations inside wave off window, Line up left At start, Landed 3 point In wires, 4 wire GRADE:C:WX_DRIM_ _LOIM_(LURIM) _TMRDIC_ _LOIC_ _LOAR_ WIRE# 1 GRADE Cut. Unsafe. Gross deviations inside wave off window, Wings At start, Drifted right In middle, Low In middle, Line up right In middle a little, Too much rate of decent In middle, Low In center, Low At the ramp, 1 Wire
  21. I could not agree more on the helos! Especially once we get the dynamic campaign. I really hope they implement SAR missions. When a player is shot down, it creates a mission for helo pilots to go recover a downed AI pilot.
  22. Great to see something new coming out of the OG! Looking forward to this if it is indeed going to be a DCS module.
  23. In the first video, I took off from Creech and practiced working on my AOA approaches for the carrier. The last two I did simulated case 1 recoveries. They were not the best by far, but they did help in the second video for my case 1. This was the first time I actually was able to maintain AOA fairly well in the Tomcat. Far from perfect, but I think I will keep working AOA practice at Creech and then transition to the carrier. It has helped learning the sweet spot between increasing/decreasing throttle, using trim, and really trying to let the DLC work its magic on final. On the case 1 in this video, I cut to soon and failed to use the DLC. Had I maintained speed and used the DLC, I think I could have hit the 3 wire without an issue. VR is the shit! I forgot to look at the damn knee board to see my grade. I am still going to post LSO grades until I am thoroughly convinced it is way off. After watching my video, it would seem the grades are not to far off from my flying. I would really like you guys who are saying it is broken to post some videos of your case 1's so I could see a perfect approach with the LSO making bad calls. I am not at this level yet and think it would be beneficial for everyone to see, including the devs. Nealius or Reflected, would you guys be willing to post a few of your Case 1's? OBS is free and easy to install/use if you do not have it already. Sounds like you gents are pretty locked on with the Tomcat. LSO Grade GRADE:---:_SLOX_ _LOIC_ 1WIRE No-grade. Below average but safe pass, Slow At start, Low In close, 1WIRE
  24. Nealius, I took your advice and incorporated the kneeboard into the videos. I am still testing the LSO behavior with the Tomcat. I have not received a consistent "your slow" every time I land. But then again, my AOA is not on point every time. In todays video, I decided to do the quick mission for a shore landing at Batumi on my second landing. Looks great in VR! Only got one good decent case 1 in today. I was not going to post the other three because I was being distracted by my wife while trying to focus on landing. Hanging curtains was apparently a bigger calling than my LSO grades. I also incorporated the ACL today as you will see. It helps tremendously when turning in on final and ensuring you are at the right glide slope. I will continue to practice without it utilizing the AOA indicator and meatball, but it sure improves your success ratio. Feels like cheating though. LSO Grade GRADE: OK: _LOIC_ 4WIRE Reasonable deviations with good corrections, Low In close, 4WIRE
  25. I was hoping for the hind to be released this year, but it sounds like from the recent interview a couple days ago with Simon Pearson (ED Business Dev director), it will be out 1st quarter of 2021. According to him, our Christmas present will be the Mosquito. Not complaining at all! It will only be a few months later the Hind will make her grand entrance. They are supposed to announce a few other projects expected for 2022 before the end of the year. Expecting one of those to be the Apache. Looks like next year the big thing on the radar is the Dynamic Campaign and hopefully weather. That is not to say we do not have a lot of amazing things coming from third party devs though. Kiowa should be here soon.
