  1. Just flew a Gazelle Mike variant tonight. I will fly another tomorrow and demonstrate the requirements for auto hover. You can also look at this older video the Grim Reapers did. Really good and still applies to what is needed for auto hover currently. Also, if you hit "C" or bind it to the joystick, you can engage/disengage auto collective to adjust your altitude for pop up scenarios to mark target and fire, then dip back down. HIGHLY recommend it. Grim Reapers also have a tutorial on autopilot that might assist as well. Love this helo. So much fun flying the Mike variant.
  2. Ladies Gents, I have forgot to post the below settings as they may assist in frame rate increase. At least I am still seeing awesome numbers out of mine after the last ED OB patch and NVIDIA patch. I will post the Steam VR setting next time I have the PIMAX up and running but if I remember correctly, I did not really adjust anything in there. I believe I left most if not all on auto. The resolution I know is on auto but defaults to 150% on my settings. NVIDIA Control Panel Settings Here is a video I posted today after the last update. A quick (40+ minutes) training flight over Nevada dropping 4x GBU-24's. I time stamped the video so you can jump around if you do not want to watch me set the systems up enroute. The FPS ranged from 55 to 63. It was so nice flying at that high of a FPS. You can tell in the video below. As always, it was recorded with OBS. I have yet to find a way to accurately center the screen to the HUD. OBS only allows left or right eye recording, not both. I get better alignment using the left eye than the right. The right eye is offset really bad. If anyone knows how to make PIMAX center better than what I have below, please post. I would really like to know.
  3. You guys are awesome!!! I love all of your products and have been a major supporter from day 1. I will continue to buy all of your products on day 1. Really looking forward to what you have to come. Thanks for the great news above and please give healthy holiday wishes to the team from a very pleased customer. Merry Christmas and stay healthy!
  4. Who is having flash backs of Janes Longbow 2 now? Kiowa and Longbow inbound!!!!! Multicrew just released for the Huey and being pushed to all other modules that need it. Sounds like the multicrew gig is a setup for future WW2 modules.........aka........bombers. ED never ceases to amaze me. Making my child hood dreams come true every year and hitting home where it counts with heart felt messages to their customers. I could not be prouder to support their company/products! Anyone else also catch the interiors of the super carrier. I was fired up about that as well. Just found out my company is having us remote for the next 6 months still. Aaahhhhhh, that means the hour drive home is now an hour early flight on DCS.
  5. I have tried my best with OBS, but because I use a PIMAX and the wide field of view it has, I think this is almost as close as I can get. Unless any other PIMAX user have mastered this. Believe me, it annoys the shit out of me to, but every time I try to adjust it, it takes hours to get it back to what it is now. I may start a separate profile and try to fine tune a little more, but I think it is the software.
  6. Was I the only one late to this party? I have never even heard of Foxtrot Oscar Simulation but apparently they are deep into making the Hawker Hunter already. I am fired up. Another old timer we need in game. Good times ahead. Check out there Facebook page. FYI, this is the limited research I have done, but they seem active (Dec 3) on facebook. Seems the Hunter is moving at a good pace, https://www.facebook.com/foxtrotoscardesigns/?ref=nf&hc_ref=ARR2pPa2PLpn91QqNy9kMOUqxlLZiEFVC71vVw4n_gBdYRlh3-JO6rmyiQAsTQgjDhk

    ships

Oh god, my balls tingled when I saw "ships". I would love to see the future accelerated and more time put into full blown Naval modules. Even started a thread on it a while back I think. WW2 is the best place to start. Japan, Germany, and the US all had PT (Patrol) boats that would be a great intro into the naval module world. We already have a German AI one. Really looking forward to improved Navy operations at some point. I wish I knew how to code and work with Mods. I have these two beauties sitting 4 hours from me on the coast. They are both pampered pretty well and look amazing. The USS Stewart is one of 3 destroyer escorts left in the world. The USS Cavalla is the sub. I could get some amazing photogrammetry going for both if I had a way to program them into modules for DCS. When she returns, I also have the Battleship Texas down the road. She was moved to dry dock for refit. My grandfather served on her. PHENOMENAL ship.
  8. A legend makes his final flight. He was a massive inspiration to me and where I have wound up in life. I will not forget the day he buzzed my house in a P-51. I drove as fast as I could to the Bell Helicopter facility where he was making an appearance for the anniversary of X-1. I still have photos of Chuck taking off and leaving. It was all over the news. May he rest in peace. He has truly changed the lives of so many. It would be nice to see a tribute flight for him in game online. Maybe a lot of us flying the P-51, F-86, and F-15.
  9. Here is a video I did this evening. Night launch in the A and then circled back around for the recovery. I was so pissed at myself. Finally got a decent night recovery with the Tomcat and forgot to call the ball. Then I forgot to check the kneeboard. Jester made up for it though with his comment. HB, please make my dream a reality and tell me you have the module to go with the song in this video starting at 10:55! We need Virgil AI next! Thank you so much for a phenomenal experience and making my flight sim dream a reality with the Tomcat. Dreamed of this since I was a kid and Fleet Defender came out. Landing the Tomcat at night in VR, red cockpit, stuttering HUD, it gets intense those last 15 seconds. Everything is black/red, and then there is the carrier. VR is the only way to fly. LOVE IT!
  10. ED/Bignewey, any word on what we can expect next or when a new update is coming for the SC? I am highly looking forward to the briefing room and being able to walk to and from the aircraft. Any Christmas teasers or new years teasers on the horizon for what we can expect in the future? It seems to have been quite in the past few months for the most part.
  11. I could not find this but I know it has been brought up. Any ETA on the deck crew getting hand lights for directing deck traffic after dark? I only play in VR and it is very difficult once the crew steps off to the side to see what the hand signal is prior to launch. Looking forward to improved deck crew night ops.
  12. I noticed the launch bar issue as well. I will test the B tonight but I would assume it is probably just an Alpha issue right now. About take her up for a night trap.
  13. Has anyone noticed the "Tomcat Ball" has been replaced with "Hornet Ball" since the update? Seems like whenever I land on the Supercarrier now, it calls the wrong ball. I need to try the Bravo again and see if it is only isolated to the Alpha.
  14. First time running the Alpha up. Did a ramp start on the carrier, launched and did a quick flyby. So far I am loving it. Performance in VR was not bad either. Thanks for doing such an outstanding job on the Tomcat gents. I am sure the issue mentioned in this forum will eventually be worked out. Till then, I am one satisfied customer. Here is the quick video I did last night in VR. It is still uploading to YouTube but the HD video will eventually show.
  15. No issue here flying from copilot seat. If you hold 0 on the numpad you can look down between the pilot and co-pilot seat from the navigators seat. Pretty bad ass. Here is a video I did this evening in VR flying the newest version, 5.9. Did a quick flight out over Vegas and then headed towards Creech. HD version is still uploading to YouTube so the quality will eventually be HD.
  16. I will dig into my Steam VR settings and post them soon. Been a busy week already with work. Here is another video I did doing a little maverick action with the F-18. Still crushing the 60FPS in VR. Damn it feels good!
  17. Gunnars, you are correct. PiTool v1.0.1.266 Headset Firmware v2.1.255.269 GeForce Game Ready Driver (NVIDIA) v457.30 updated on 11/09/20. PIMAX 8K (first gen that was released) Changing the backlight got rid of the ghosting effect like Vitallini said. I reduced it from 50 to 25. Weird, I saw a 5 FPS drop, but when I got in the air, back up to 60. I am going to toy with the backlight a little more and bump it up to 30. Not sure why the backlight would effect the FPS. I want to say this was changed automatically to 50 though when the PiTool updated. Here are my PiTool settings Refresh rate 80HZ Backlight 25 Field of view Normal Render Quality 1.5 (in game under VR tab is ) Fixe Foveated Rendering Close Nothing checked below that Contrast 2 Brightness 1 In Game DCS settings are attached below in the screen shots.
  18. Elysian, that level of fidelity and challenge is what makes the module a success and draws a niche group of guys who want the challenge. If it was that difficult in real life, then the expectation of DCS customers is it must be that difficult in game. Plus, you are not focusing on what would actually make the Corsair a success. It brings a lot to the table many of us have been waiting for, not to mention the history behind the aircraft which some of us on this forum have close ties to. The brits actually devised a unique way of landing the corsair on the deck of a carrier that was eventually adopted by the US Navy. Check it out below. I am looking forward to trying this when she makes it to the hangar in DCS.
  19. First off gents, I love your module and I am not here to bash. Just want to say the text in the MFD in almost unreadable in VR unless you zoom in on the screens. I have every module in DCS and never have this issue with any other one except the Mirage 2000. I was not sure if this is something specific to the way you are developing modules or if it is an eye strain in real life. Of all modules, the Harrier has the most text up on screen at any one given time. If there was any way to increase the size, even a little for VR users, it would be appreciated. Same with the Mirage. Reading the text on the consoles requires me to zoom almost every time. If this is not fixed, I will still be a happy customer, but it sure would help in flight.
  20. I am perfectly fine with Razbams line up. I really enjoy all their modules. What they have in the pipe will bring some variety to the table for multiple conflicts. Looking forward to their future releases.
  21. Vitallini, thanks for the heads up on the backlight brightness. I will test it out here in a bit and see if that changes the ghosting. Been flying quite a bit today and hitting 50 to 60 FPS consistently. Only time I am dropping into 40 or 45 FPS is on the Persian Gulf map around dense cities. But it still runs a hell of a lot better than it did. I updated the Pi TOOL through the tool itself. Then updated the firmware on the headset through the tool. Let me know if you see a difference.
  22. That is what I am afraid of, a new patch causing a revert back to old FPS performance. This is completely wild speculation and I have nothing to back it up, but I wonder if this performance boost or firmware update has anything to do with the new MS Flight Sim 2020 VR update coming next month. I am wondering if all major VR companies are doing firmware updates in preparation to run the game, and maybe indirectly this increased the performance of DCS. I agree older headsets must have some sort of performance issues, but I have read numerous posts of people buying top of the line gaming PC's with new HP VR headsets just for DCS and are still unable to get past 40 or 45 FPS if they are lucky. I am hoping the performance I am seeing is here to stay and a glimpse of future performance across the board for all VR users. Time will tell. I will continue to test it and post videos. Still curious if I am the only one seeing this performance. I keep trying to convince myself the update reduced the graphics some how causing the increase in FPS, but all my in game settings did not change and the PI Tool setting are the same as before the firmware/software update. It's a close encounters of third kind moment.
  23. System is as follows Intel i9-9900K 32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3200 MHZ NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Windows 10 64-bit (not sure there is even a 32 anymore) 1 TB SSD Hard Drive No overclocking or anything like that. Stock settings. Run OBS for recording the the videos in VR. PIMAX 8K VR headset using the latest PI tool that was just updated today. Just took the Harrier out for a run on the Syria map. Still crushing 60 FPS. I am afraid to turn my computer off. LOL. She is running DCS like a dream right now.
  24. Well Gents, I am at a loss for words and still do not believe what I am seeing! PIMAX PI tool just had an update to a new version and then the headset itself had a firmware update. I am not shit getting 60 FPS now in game. I thought something must be wrong. I recorded the same video I have done before flying the F-16 over Syria and turned the FPS counter on for everyone to see. I then ran the densely populated Huey free flight mission in Syria created by ED. On the low end I was getting 45 FPS but averaged around 50 FPS. I am uploading the F-16 video now and will follow up with the Huey video. The only thing I have noticed in headset that looks odd is there is a small ghosting effect on the lettering after the update in the menus. I can easily deal with this given the performance upgrade I am seeing. Hopefully I am not jumping the gun here and posting to soon. I have tried the F-14 and F-18 on the super carrier and both are rocking 60 FPS. I hope this is not effected down the road with future updates. 60 FPS in VR is a wet dream. If anyone else is flying with a PIMAX headset, please post and advise if you have seen the performance I am seeing.
  25. Guile I did a short VR video for you and your boys. It is not really demonstrating much. Just showing you what each cockpit looks like in all the DCS WW2 birds. Gives you an idea of the office space in each bird and maybe help you decide which one you would like to start with first in VR. I have to say, I am partial to the Mustang and Spit. I LOVE the Jug but have a hard time getting over the P-51 and Spitfire. This will not be the case when the F-4U Comes out. I grew up around 6 Whistling Deaths and watched them fly all the time over my Grandfathers house. She is and always will be my first Crush. I just hope she is done correctly. You will be seeing a lot of videos on her when she is finally released. For anyone reading this, my FPS is not bad in game with the PIMAX VR. It runs decent on the highest settings but ED has a ways to go before VR is where it needs to be. I am really hoping Vulcan will help in this department when it is released. The VR videos I upload appear choppier than they really do in game. I have not found a way around this when recording or uploading. I will still play no other way though. Once you play in VR, DCS is not the same any other way. I cannot recommend it enough.
