Jesus Christ there a bunch of school girls on this thread complaining. So far we have had the new cloud system pushed out this year, the Hind, the Mossie, a slew of updates to the F-18 and F-16, along with the progress and updates on the Apache. To insinuate these gents are not getting updates out to your speed or time frame is an insult to the hard work they do on a daily basis for us. Everyone wants everything now, get that, but its not like they have not been transparent with the community. Photos and info have been provided in videos and updates. The one thing a handful of you on here need to practice is patience. This boils down to things are not going your way so lets get on the forum and kick the hornets nest. Go enjoy what is already out and the rest will be here soon. It not like the SC is not functional and fun to use in its current state.

I think both sets of data are accurate. I think what needs to be added is 2/3 of all U-boats sunk by the US were do to Consolidated PBY's and PB4Y's. I still think this would be a great aircraft to being to the pacific campaign, especially when the Naval side of the WW2 assets start to get brought into play more. Either way, the WW2 pacific time period is shaping up to have a bright future ahead. Appreciate the stats above gents.

I could be wrong on that one. Going based off some data I found online and we all know how accurate that can be at times. Please roast me if I am wrong.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Devil 505 replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
A quick run across the channel followed up by a heavy hit by AAA. Very intense and a lot of fun getting her back across the channel and landed on pretty much one engine. Damage model is rockin! -
Not knocking anyone's opinion here but I actually grew up around several of these old beasts and it no more complicated starting up the B-17 than a B-25. I will not argue the time it takes to probably create one at the level ED puts out, but with the company getting A LOT better at WW2 modules and learning how to do multi engine now with the Mossie, I would not count the old girl out. She still has a lot to bring to the table even with the current European maps we have. I remember the old schools days of Flying Fortress on the PC. Part of the fun was starting up, takeoff, circling the field, then heading across the channel to hit a factory and wondering if the clouds were going to interfere. Then fighting off 109's and hoping the P-51's had enough fuel to stick around and support. Right now we fly cover missions for the AI B-17's to drop bombs on targets so I fail to see the point of the maps are not big enough. With the technology ED has now days, this is a no brainer. No to mention they recently stated they originally had no desire to do a cargo module and that has now changed. My best guess is the Anubis C-130 module will soon be reveled as the cargo module coming to DCS. Its popularity went through the roof when he released it. That is a 4 engine module with more complexities than the B-17. If minds have changed on a cargo module, it would not surprise me one bit to see them change on heavy bombers. Bottom line, the Big Girl has her place in our virtual skies and deserves to be made a module. Now the old argument of taking time away from other modules needs to stop. ED and other 3rd party DEVs have already stated AND proven that they can work multiple modules simultaneously. This year we got the Hind, Mossie, cloud system, and before the years out the Apache. I would say they are doing pretty damn good job. Not to mention all the additions to the F-18 and F-16. With growth comes more employees and opportunity. The third party Devs alone are starting to flourish in this community and grow. I say the time has come and will soon be needed for heavy bombers. I am ok with B-25's, P-61's, B-26's ect....... coming first, but lets not drop the heavies off the table. A lot of us want them and this is only going to flesh out the WW2 scene and make more dreams come true.

Why this has not been mentioned is almost blasphemy. The PBY was the back bone for submarine warfare during WW2 and was responsible for 2/3 of all axis submarine kills during the war. The capabilities of this aircraft far exceed what we expect in DCS. Everything from Torpedo and bomb runs on ships to recon, and then search and rescue. Both day and night capable, this aircraft was a beast and huge success to both the European and Pacific campaign. I could not think of a more fitting aircraft to bring to the Pacific that was so iconic. I would even go as far as saying this one deserves to be made by ED. One thing I would love to see is search and rescue missions implemented into the Dynamic Campaign when it is released. The ability to rescue downed pilots in the sea and return them to the ship or a base would improve stats when showing what aircraft/pilots are available for future missions. SAR missions would create sub missions such as air cover for the rescue aircraft. I would love to hear thoughts/opinions on this. I highly recommend watching the short documentary below. I had no idea the PBY was virtually silent when going into a dive to attack subs. Apparently Nazi and Japanese submarines were terrified of them.

Really enjoying the mod so far. Looking forward to the progress on this one. Hopefully ground mechanics such as taxing while on the ground can be worked among others additions that would be nice. This post is not for suggestions just yet but congrats on an solid free mod. This was my first flight below and in VR. Really digging it. Hope to see this one grow like the Anubis C-130. Is there anyway to get the notifications in the upper right turned off? -
DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
Devil 505 replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Me as well. I am really glad to hear ED changing their minds about bringing a full fidelity transport plane to the fight. There are a multitude of applications a C-130 could be used for with the upcoming dynamic campaign. I feel like the overwhelming community response to the Anubis C-130 mod is a testament to how many people want and would fly a transport aircraft. My personal opinion is the C-130 and C-47 would be the best to start with. Both excel at cargo transport, troop transport, troop deployment (static or HALO/HAHO jumps), and attack variants for different time periods. Both easily fit into any map/scenario we currently have. With the dynamic campaign coming, pilots who like to fly these would be a massive benefit to pushing the line forward by conducting personnel and cargo transfer. This could easily turn the tide of any mission being conducted by fighters pilots. It would open up the opportunity for escort missions, provide the opportunity to keep bases fully stocked with weapons for the fighters, or provide troop transports to locations where it would open up close air support missions. I believe the role of these transport aircraft are vital to the sim, especially the upcoming dynamic campaign. I for one would thoroughly enjoy switching roles from time to time delivering supplies and doing troop insertions when taking a break from dropping bombs. Bring it on ED and Anubis. The crowds are waiting -
First gun run. Really digging the Hind in VR. Performance was decent on the Marinas map. ED is doing a good job with the patches. Still looking forward to Vulkan. Wish we had an update on it.

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
Devil 505 replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Just heard ED are more than likely going to do a cargo plane. I remember Anubis saying something to the affect of really exciting news coming soon a month or so back. Does this possibly mean ANubis is signing a deal with ED to officially do a C-130 mod? Any tease would be awesome. -
Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap
Devil 505 replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
So I just want to clarify for the sake of everyone's hard on, EF 2000 and Intruder confirmed, but there are 1 or 2 more unnamed modules thus far? I know the A-6 is a ways out which sad yes, but still not really with what is in the pipeline in between. HB, can you confirm how many modules are left that are in the skunkworks for the time being? -
This is great news. I must admit, I was a little bumed to hear the Intruder was so far out, however knowing it is coming and being worked on is more than good enough for me. I am absolutely intrigued with the two unknown modules coming before the Intruder, including the EF2000. Fired up they are committed to the community. We have some good stuff inbound. With the A-7 and F-8 also being developed by two other devs, we have a great Naval Strike Force coming. I tell you what I would love to see HB do someday, the Skyraider. Man could they do a superb job with that. Not only would it fit the Naval assets, but also the Korean and Vietnam Era.

DCS UH-60 Blackhawk mod
Devil 505 replied to Devil 505's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
They are at it again! Here is a bad ass video of the UH-60 mod doing AAR with a KC-130. Absolutely cannot wait for this mod! -
Absolutely outstanding! There is no excuse now, Vietnam can be done! First flight below in the Huey with PIMAX VR. FPS in VR was not terrible at all. Used flat shadows as suggested by the grim reapers, disable the preview window in OBS, and made sure I was running on latest graphics drivers and it was a great flight. Thanks for an outstanding map. Cannot wait to support you gents on your future endeavors for all of us.

MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Devil 505 replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
So something I discovered was the performance hits have been coming a lot from OBS and the new PIMAX tool. I had to revert back to the last PIMAX tool because the new one blocks PIMAX in steam VR. I found something pretty amazing someone mentioned about OBS, while recording disable the preview window. Right click on it and disable the view. Really helps with VR FPS. Another one I found today with the new Marianas map was referenced by the Grim Reapers. Turn the shadows to flat in the DCS settings options. Helped significantly. Also update to the newest NVIDIA drivers. Below is my first flight in the Huey over the Marianas in VR with the PIMAX. Absolutely a blast and ran a lot better than what I thought it would. -
MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Devil 505 replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This is really good to know! I actually have slide show on with a load of DCS backgrounds active now. I will disable it so see how it improves the performance. Thanks for the heads up. -
Africa for WW2. It would open up a lot of different options for assets and aircraft. Something not many sims have focused on.

MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Devil 505 replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
So after a bit of testing and flying with the latest update, I am happy to say my FPS is actually doing really well in VR. I discovered that since the update, when recording with OBS, it causes the jittering effect and strong hit to the FPS. Now do I have an answer why? Not yet. I have not tried using OBS outside of VR so others may have something different to say. I just got off of a flight with the Mig-15 running between 60 and 80 FPS on the Nevada map in a dog fight. The videos I posted in my prior post on this thread are running a solid 50 to 55 FPS without OBS running. I re flew the Mig-15 Landing training mission without OBS running and not a single issue. No jittering/ghosting effect and a solid 50 to 60FPS in VR. Last night I flew the hind on the Aerobatics Caucasus map with several others flying the hind. Ran around 40 to 45 FPS on take off with everyone and then jumped to around 50 to 55 while flying formation over the river with another player. I am really please right now with how it is running. Now if I can figure out what the performance hit with OBS is, I will be in good shape. The videos are not really worth recording right now in the current state it captures in (for VR). By all means, I am still down for optimizations, but I thought this might shed a little light on performance hits for some people. -
MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Devil 505 replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have noticed a decent hit to the FPS from Open Beta 2.7.1.7139 to 2.7.2.7910.1. I only fly in VR (Pimax 8K). Update ****7139 actually increased my FPS. Recording in OBS was outstanding. When ****7910.1 was updated a few days ago, I have noticed a weird jitter with all aircraft when looking around the cockpit in VR and a hit to the FPS. I have also noticed OBS recordings are now stuttering pretty badly. Below are some videos I posted demonstrating the difference. Video 1 is Open Beta ****7139 with the P-51. There was a decent amount going on and the FPS was awesome. The effects after getting shot on my run were nothing but amazing in VR. Smooth FPS as the video demonstrates. Video recorded awesome. Video 2 is a side by side of the Mig-15 training mission landing the aircraft. I did the left video as soon as 7139 update released and I shot the right video today with the 7910.1 update. You can easily tell the differences. Video 3 and 4 were both shot today in the 7910.1 update flying the Hind and the Huey over Cypress. You can see the jittering I am experiencing in cockpit. FPS counter is displayed in each video, top left. The game is still playable and I will not stop flying, but the ghosting/jittering effect is annoying when looking around. The video recording looks a little worse than it actually is in the VR headset. This is by no means a trash video towards ED. I absolutely love the Hind and everything that was updated. There is no other way to fly than VR. I was blown away by the immersion when I jumped in the cockpit. Take time to look behind you in the Hind if you have VR on, pretty awesome what you have going on behind the pilots set. I think with a future optimization patch, this will fix the issues. I have noticed over the years FPS is a roller coaster with updates. I also noticed that when NVIDIA does a driver update, it can sometimes cause issues with ED updates. On another note, all drivers are updated for the graphics card. No setting have been changed in game or out between the two patches. The "fxo" and "metashaders2" folder were emptied as soon as update was applied. After every update I always empty those two folders. The only mods I have installed are as follows Anubis C-130, A-4E, T-45 Goshawk, and the Bell 47 V6. Please let me know if these mods have anything to do with performance issues. All are updated to the most current state. The only one I have flown in update 7910.1 is the T-45. Same issues with the jittering/ghosting effect when looking around the cockpit and FPS hit. PC specs listed below. Any assistance or confirmation of known issues would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks for making my virtual aviation dreams come true. Please continue the hard work. It is beyond appreciated everyday after I get off work. Intel i9-9900K CPU @ 4.68GHz 16 Processors 32GB of RGB Dominator Pro 2133MHz Ram 885 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti w/latest driver version 466.77 (released 06/10) PIMAX 8K with latest Pi tool and firmware for headset -
Saw this video on YouTube a few days ago. Someone is doing a kickass UH-60 mod. Damn near looks third party quality. The developers is being quite, but this is recent video footage (May 18th). If anyone knows more than what is in the video or the comments to the video, I would like to know. This is a helo I have wanted for a long time in DCS, even if its a mod. Looks fantastic. Remind me of the Janes Longbow 2 days.

DEAR GOD! Since the stable update and NVIDIA update, things appear to be running better. But that is not why I am really here. If I could hug someone at ED I would. The level of immersion in VR with WW2 is starting to go straight through the roof. Flew this quick mission earlier with the Mustang and what ride it was. In VR when you begin to black out and the cockpit starts taking damage now, it a whole new ball game. Bailing out over the channel still feels like you are really about to land in cold water. I cannot thank ED enough for making my VR dreams a reality. And before it get mentioned, I killed the engine. Got so astounded by all the details going on inside the cockpit from being hit, I forgot to bring the mixture back and slow the RPM. Great job with the damage and engine model ED. VERY excited for the future of DCS WW2. Especially bombers someday. Below is the video I shot today of the encounter.
