Thanks for the feedback so far. Top Jockey, the FLOLS is include with the Super Carrier module. To my knowledge, I do not thing there is a way to turn it off right now. I thought I remember people asking for that option, but to be honest, I like using it. Before anyone points it out, I just noticed I was deploying the speed break way to soon. Needs to be deployed at the break, not before. Should have known this, not sure why I thought it was before. A bit embarrassing.

This may have already been discussed, but is there a way to use a mic and call 3/4 of the mile when getting ready to land? It is a pain in the ass trying to watch when the command is available to hit F2 and then call the ball. I would much rather be able to call the ball myself. Even better, call all the inbound traffic to the carrier. If not, is this something ED is looking at for a possible addition? I know there was talk about improving radio comms. I hope something along these lines get implemented.

Here is today's 3 traps so far. The first two sucked. I was trying to trim before the break instead of trying to hold 800 at 350 with the speed break deployed. It requires a lot of back pressure on the stick to hold between 750 and 800 before the break if you are to maintain 350kts. Note the wings are retracted to 68 degrees as prescribed in the approach. The second error I caught myself doing was not giving her enough throttle when coming out on the downwind for the first 2 passes. I would loose altitude quickly. I was also not trimming before starting my base approach and going into final. I find the trim on the Tomcat an acquired taste that takes a lot of practice. I look forward to learning better bolter procedures as I seem to master those quickly. On the third pass, I did not turn in on the base approach so early, giving me time to adjust when rolling out on final. The trim was still not the best. I was really trying to keep the speed as close to the numbers as possible. I am not sure if this is something I did or a bug, but I noticed the AOA indicator was not lighting up or giving any indication at all. I am not sure if this is something I had turned off or if there was a problem. It may have something to do with the next issue and that is my AOA itself. I was roughly 5 to 6 degrees off and never at 15 as prescribed. This was a bit confusing because for the first time ever, I landed a perfect 3 wire according to the LSO. I am not sure if AOA is taken into factor when graded by the LSO. Please comment and let me know what you think about the videos. I have started time stamping at the bottom so everyone can cut to the chase. No need for long drawn out videos. I will average 3 recoveries a video unless I am just crushing it and do a lot better. Seems after about two though practice runs, I start to improve, so we will see. Look forward to seeing others post their carrier landings. LSO Grades GRADE:WO _LULIM_ (LURIC) WO(AFU)IC _LRTL_ Wave off, Lined up left In middle, Lined up right In close (a little), Wave off (All fouled up) In close, Landed right To land GRADE:WO WO(AFU)IC Wave off, Wave off (All fouled up) In close GRADE:_OK_: _FX_ 3 WIRE Perfect pass, Fast At start, 3 wire

Well gents, it is finally time for me to step up my skills. I have always been able to make it back to the carrier ok and even make it look decent, but never payed any attention to the LSO grades. So now the time has come to REALLY challenge myself and get in the habit of landing the Tomcat by the book. I have a lot more experience in the DCS F-18, but I grew up around the Tomcat and felt I was doing her a disservice by not landing on the carrier appropriately. This WILL take some time to perfect. I always fly in VR (PIMAX 8K). I use Chucks DCS F-14 guide (Highly recommend any guide of his for DCS modules at mudspike) for correct case I, II, and III procedures. I will stick to case I for a while utilizing TACAN Nav and flying the meatball. Eventually when I feel this looks good and the grades are consistent, I will move onto utilizing the ICLS and working case II and III recoveries and more advanced landings. By now, I am pretty sure most of us can land on the carrier day/night and foul weather, but is it good and what do the grades look like. I am going to start posting my videos and LSO scores on this forum. I highly encourage anyone to do the same on this thread going forward. There are very few videos on YouTube actually showing good LSO landings with the old girl. I am far from perfect or even good, but I hope through practice, patience, constructive feedback, and others posting to this thread, we can all become more proficient at landing the Tomcat on the carrier. I hope this challenges other DCS players to start working their LSO grades/landings. The video below is my first one actually trying to line up all procedures correctly on a case 1. Clearly the first two passes were extremely embarrassing. After wondering why the hell I kept getting a bolter, I realized I never dropped my hook. I hyped myself up after reading through the procedures and said "I got this", nope. I also for the first time learned the absolute importance of the Tomcat DLC on landing. Never used it before today. I cannot stress enough, practice and utilize the DLC. I have a long way to go mastering it, but you can see the difference it made on my third approach. I will always post my LSO scores below. I hope others follow. This will help remember the acronyms for the LSO grades going forward and create muscle memory to prevent errors on future approaches. I encourage all forms of constructive feedback. I have a thick skin and do not get offended easily. Please try to keep this forum on point with the subject. OBS is the recording software I use and if anyone is interested, I will post my computer specs. I have a new computer, but sadly, the optimization with DCS right now and VR is still lacking as we all know. In headset though, it looks and runs pretty good, but still looking forward to Vulkan and better VR performance in the future. Please advise if any of you are having streaming problems. Here are the three LSO grades for my first video. LSO: GRADE:B _SLOX_ _LOIM_ _TMRDIC_ _LOIC_ Bolter, Slow At the start, Low in the middle, To much rate of descent In close, Low In close LSO: GRADE:B _DRX_ _LURX_ _FX_ (LURIM) (DLIC) Bolter, Drifted right At the start, Lined up right At the start, Fast At the start, Lined up right In the middle (a little), Drifted Left In close (a little) LSO: GRADE (OK):WIRE#3[bC] Fair landing with reasonable deviations, 3 Wire, [no ball call made]

Middle Earth. Who wants to buzz the shire in a Huey?

Here is a unique one for you gents, the F-4D Skyray. Weird looking plane, but Navy none the less and had a decent operational history with the Navy and Marines.
-
I would not mind seeing the Grumman Panther. It would be a nice addition to our Korean era aircraft. With the Corsair on the way, the F-86, and the MiG-15, we are shaping up for the North Korean conflict. There are also a few Helos to compliment that time period too. The H-19, H-5, H-25, and the Mash H-13.

Great news! Really looking forward to this update.

Well Gents, It looks like we have a pretty good size of Naval assets inbound. HB has not confirmed it, but I think the A-6 is a very strong possibility for a future module, given the fact they said they would like to make it happen. I believe there was something posted when they first released the teaser video of the AI model that said they were building as if they were creating a full module until they got the approval. Moving on Magnitude is making progress with the F-8 Crusader which is shaping up nicely. Really looking forward to this one. As posted in the newest weekly update, FlyingIron Simulations is crushing the A-7E. I absolutely cant wait to take her up the first time and bring her back on deck. REALLY looking forward to this one. Then we have HB releasing the A model F-14 soon. And we cannot leave out Razbams bad ass Harrier (Even though she is technically Marines) the Navy is her dad. So this begs the big question. What does the community want to see for the Navy next? I think we can all agree the F-4 is the big girl missing from the picture. But what about others? I love the community A-4 module, but I would really like to see an EFM module of the A-4D done correctly for the Navy. And we cannot leave out the A-1 Skyraider. With the Navy getting thoroughly fleshed out in the future, are there more modules you would like to see? I personally think it will be time soon to turn towards more Navy Helos. Possibly the H-46 Sea Knight, Sikorsky H-3, Sikorsky Sea King, Seasprite, Sikorsky H-52, SH-60 Sea Hawk ect... What are your thoughts about Navy modules going forward?

How about a version of Jester with Anthony Edwards (Goose) narrating all the lines. "Come on, do some of the pilot shit" has to be added.
-
Scar, You can not go wrong with the HIP. It will help for sure learning how to start her up, familiarize yourself with similar instrumentation, and ESPECIALLY landings. She is a big girl and has a particular way she needs to be handled bringing in. Here is a video of me flying her with the PIMAX 8K the other night. Sorry for the lag if there is any. Cannot wait for ED to get DCS up to speed with a smoother VR experience. However, if you fly in VR, she is awesome. You cannot go wrong owning all the Helo for DCS. Coming from the guy who buys every module they release. LOL.

I am the opposite, I can't get it down when flying the F-14. Good thing I fly in VR.

+ 1 Bring Pappy home. Just a rough idea of a release would tingle the balls.

Could not agree more with the JU-52. WW2 offers a lot in the world of Aviation. There were so many aircraft developed during that time. I would love to see the P-61 Black Widow as well as many others make their debut. All for the C-47 first though. So many roles it could play.
-
Lets just make this a full module. It would fit in perfect with the upcoming dynamic campaign engine. Dropping supplies and troops behind enemy lines, keeping the frontlines moving. All about it.

After the Gazelle, buy another Polychop Helo worth the risk?

This thread is about as useful as church group at whore house. I grew up flying in and being around the Gazelles, Alouette's, Lama's, A-350 A-STARS, 355 Twin Stars, Super Pumas, Pumas, Dauphins ect..... Could the flight model use some work, a little, but it is still an outstanding module and the only damn module that has ever been able to get the sound of a fenestron tail rotor correct. That was the first thing I noticed when it came to the sound of the aircraft. I was sold. Going from Aerospatiale, to American Eurocopter, now to Airbus Helicopters, I really hope to see Polychop carry on the companies older product line. Keep up the great work Devs and forget the rest of the BS on this thread. Everyone is a pilot these days with an opinion. -
DEVS, With the new MB-339A team becoming a new Third Party Dev, have you ever considered going full third party? I would gladly pay full price for you to unlock the full capabilities to develop this module to its fullest. I think this would be a great addition so many have and still want fully done with EFM. Please consider it or maybe start a separate poll to see if anyone would back you on it. Wish you the best and greatly appreciate the free version, but you gents really should get paid for the top notch work.

I cant say the above will be my last. For some reason lately, I have gravitated to this forum when drunk and flying DCS. I do not do it often, but when I do, its DCS world in VR. You would be shocked how well you can fly the Huey after several margaritas. I can only imagine what the A-6 will be like.............................:music_whistling:

JESUS CHRIST BOYS!!!!! Let me tell you, probably the worst thing writing this drunk but nothing makes your balls tingle more than Hotel Bravos F-14 and the Top Gun Sound Track on the Super Carrier. Three Margirtias in and ready on the cat. I owe them my left one for putting me in Mavs seat on the weekend and 3 or 4 drinks in. TALK TO ME GOOSE!!!!! Let this become the board for flying the Tomcat under the influence of amazingness in VR.

BIGNEWY, thanks for the follow up brother. It is much appreciated. Seems like there is some really good talent there. If he could get a team together and the permissions to proceed, I concur with the above statement of an untapped genre of warbirds for DCS. I can only imagine the complexities though of getting the information needed for Russian WW2 aircraft. I do not think I have ever heard anyone mention an IL-2 before funny enough.

Sorry for kicking the hornets nest IronMike. I was drinking the other night and watching Flight of the Intruder when I dropped the thread on here. :pilotfly: You guys are spot on with your approach for your customers. I look forward to the future of HB and DCS! And for the record VR, F-14, and alcohol are a good time. :D Until your wife hears you calling "Devil 505 3/4 of mile call your ball, ROGER BALL F**K YEAH!" while she is trying to go to bed.
-
I feel a full blown A-6 module on the horizon gents!!!!! May be the liquor talking tonight, but I’m pretty sure Coolhand is on 3/4 mile approach to DCS!
-
ED or anyone from OctopusG. No specific questions here on future modules, just curious if you are still around and plan on doing anything else for DCS, or is this the end of the road? I would still like to support the team if you choose to continue producing for DCS. Your first module was good to go. It has been a ghost town on the forum here with little to no response.

I am completely satisfied with bare bones for now, and the Top Gun quotes WILL NEVER get old. Thanks for bringing us the Tomcat! I grew up up around her as a kid, the Phantom as well. Once the Intruder and Phantom make their debut into DCS, I will be complete. I take the back, F-4U Corsair as well, because I grew up with the Black Sheep Squadron and 6 real corsairs my grandfathers friend owned and flew here in Texas.
