+1 between the horrible performance and no labels mod its really unplayable in this patch.

ED has never listed all the changes in the changelog. Thats just how ED works. Anyway Sithspawn has already asked Yo-Yo to take another look. I really can't understand how any of the people here really think the current behaviour is in anyway plausible.

Poll: 'E' armament Option for LF. IX
DefaultFace replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Somehow I think the answer on this will be like the gondolas for the K-4. Maybe someday, but it was never originally promised so we aren't going to do it for now. FYI if you just want to use it in SP it shouldn't be that hard to make one in the lua files. Wouldn't change the FM or 3d model though obviously. The same was done for the K-4 with a 20mm at some point. -
190 A8 fliegbar. Wird ne standardversion mit 2x20mm und 2x13mm sein. Bekommt komplett neues cockpit modell (also nicht von der D-9 angepasst). Mehr weiß man noch nicht.
-
Anyone who can translate that better? Google says something about the 190 wearing summer clothes and a great cabin? Edit: from the follow up posts it seems the 190 will be flyable? Coyote is talking about a version with 4x20mm and 2x13mm mgs?

Has the spit turned into a lady?
DefaultFace replied to TinPony's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Well actually I have. Not a huge amount, and also mostly gliders but even if I hadn't, everyone who has ever driven a car on asphalt knows that rubber tires like that don't usually behave like hockey pucks on ice (under normal conditions, no rain/Ice etc). I can understand where you and others are coming from with this but I still have 2 issues with it: 1: DCS devs and forum mods have for years preached that DCS is the most realistic thing out there, no exceptions whatsoever. No compromises will be made, deal with it and practice. Why the sudden change of heart? 2: How far does it go? Especially when you relax it so much so that people can make such ridiculous errors as in the video, how can you still claim this is a simulator and not an arcade game? There are plenty of things in the sim I "can't feel". Shall we make the Mustang turn a little better because I don't "feel" like I can swat 109s from the sky like on the History channel? -

Yes the side friction in grass was also too high before making it more difficult than irl but on runways it fit quite well. -

All of them. Not realistic at all. No way you would ever get away with it. -
My guess is G-6 A8 etc will be part of the Flying Legends reduced fidelity. Would be a shame as I'd rather have those two as full DCS modules but who knows.

Maybe in 10 years but at the moment we have what we have and if they want to build maps for that then there are limited options.
-
The only thing said so far was that they wanted to create maps that fit for the current planeset. If you think about how late in the war the K-4 and D-9 came that doesn't leave a whole lot. Personally I think southern Germany/Austria would be great. Northern Germany would be cool as well. Berlin would fit but then one would technically need soviet fighters as well if you want to have everything covered. IMO Rhein/Ruhr/Belgium/France would be a bit of a mistake. As much as that was the biggest industrial region and got bombed alot it's exactly the Bodenplatte area that is being covered by the "other sim". But who knows. If it's true and it really does fit with the late war western front planeset we have I'm sure it will be interesting.

Not really on topic here but since it's being discussed already: Any news on whether the Mossie will be a "Full DCS" aircraft or will it be one of the FC4 level WWII Birds? Back to the Thunderjug: Its looking great so far, especially the 56th FG skin! Really looking forward to this one, hopefully not too much longer.

Sorry to disappoint you but: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217751 A few patches ago landing and takeoff got much much easier due to reduced side friction on the tires of the WWII aircraft. Easier than it should be. Thankfully Yo-Yo is going to take another look at it though. -
DCS Normandy 1944 : Add Winter texture to the Wishlist
DefaultFace replied to bghvip's topic in Wish List
Not sure where it came from originally (got it from a Squadmate over the TS file browser) but I'm pretty sure its the same one as linked in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218086&page=2 -
DCS Normandy 1944 : Add Winter texture to the Wishlist
DefaultFace replied to bghvip's topic in Wish List
There is a mod that allows spawning anywhere on the map. Works in MP and only the mission maker needs to have it installed. Problem is you can’t refuel/rearm/repair and you get a loss every time you switch planes which is an issue if you care about your scoreboard / K/D. Also dcs doesn’t have proper ground physics for grass fields so many people struggled to take off when we used it on the fighting legends server (although this is easier with the recent patches). -
Bind the inertial starter to a button somewhere. It should be called "signal starter crew" or something. Then it works everywhere and you don't need to be at an airfield or have the communications options set properly.
-
you can bind the inertial starter to a button as well. Then you don't have to worry about weird comms things.
-
Just use 0 like Birdstrike said. There has been no need for the pump for a while and using it usually just makes things worse.
-
As far as I and everyone else I know can tell, non paved runways in Normandy have always used the same physics as the paved ones on the other dcs maps. Not really a great example. They really aren't. Takeoffs and landings are manageable now that you would never be able to get away with IRL. Just a few days ago on the BS server I floored it out of the hangar in the 109, went bouncing up over the hill there, came back down the other side and took off without so much as a scratch.
-
Not sure if this is the same as what I have but there is a JSGME Version I have which does the same thing and there are 0 IC issues. IIRC you can even design missions with it and people who join the server don’t need the mod for it to work for them. We did this with the Fighting Legends Server at some point and the only real issue was people who found it more difficult to takeoff in the grass than on the runway.
-
Sometimes I feel like this forum has the same discussions over and over again. Really the only thing you can't do in the Mustang vs the 109 is follow it in extended, steep climbing maneuvers. Just like you can't keep up with the Mustang in a dive when flying the 109. Otherwise the differences are minimal tbh. With practice you should be able to kill most 109 pilots in dcs online in a dogfight with the P-51. TBH same goes the other way around too.
-
I agree with the others, before the change takeoff in the 109 felt very consistent with the comments made by Volker Bau when he described the takeoff. ( ). Now I just managed to takeoff without any rudder or brake input without even having the tailwheel locked. The plane just veers to the left and drags the wing a bit till it gets enough speed to get airborne, and then it lifts off just fine. I really don't see how this can be realistic. The wing didn't even get damaged like it used to when you scrape it along the ground. I did the same thing a while ago in 'the other sim' and shook my head when it worked. Really hope DCS does not continue in this direction.

Yes the AI does use a different FM but it's actually good practice for flying cleanly IMO. I haven't flown since the CW spit was introduced but the non clipped one you could outturn even on excellent if you manage your energy well and use some flaps.
