  1. According to the russian Forum the A-8 will be flyable.
  2. Yes. Its not perfect, but its much better than unmodded DCS. At the moment its more like flying night fighters.
  3. I thought it was 109 OP which made all the allied pilots get shot down, now it is labels?? :music_whistling: I've been flying a bit without the labels the last few weeks and its back to how it was before now. Instead of people being spread out on the map at different altitudes, everyone is at treetop height in the hopes of seeing something against the sky. Only chance of finding anyone is to go hangout at the big smokestack and wait for the message "enemy at CQ23". Then dive to 10m alt and hope to spot them. Sometimes I can't even see my wingman if he decides to go 10m below me at a distance of maybe 2-300m. Totally ridiculous. Either way it doesn't matter because I hear that you now can't enforce changes in the labels.lua serverside anymore? So there is no way to make them be on for everyone in MP...? Maybe eekz can say more if he has tried already.
  4. I'm deaf now but its a cool video. :joystick:
  5. Everybody already had a riot when they made planes without Guns, and now you want them without engines too? I can already see the pitchforks. A 109G (to go with the 190A8) or a German counterpart to the Mossie (Me410 Pls) would be much more useful.
  6. They already said in the Russian forum that the Dora pit will stay the same. Was in regards to if it will be getting any of the improved 3D stuff that they make while working on the Anton anyway. Wouldn't surprise me if they did texture work on the other aircraft as well. The 109 External textures got an update for the new lighting in one of the last open beta patches (the one that caused the VR issues). At least from the outside it looks a bit better now.
  7. Everyone I know who has any experience running servers in DCS, as well as what I've observed on MP it is definitely an issue. About 150-200 Ping is more or less where issues start to happen.
  8. Looks like this one from the USAF Museum
  9. Currently we have a P-51 D-30 that is apparently a 1945 Pacific theatre configuration of the aircraft.
  10. Eekz is there a reason the server isn't restarting? Sun has gone down over Evreux and for the time being we don't have DCS He219 to hunt Mustangs in the dark :P Server says its been up for 12h 37 minutes or so.
  11. Hopefully this means we will finally see the long awaited "European" configuration Mustang in the near future as well.
  12. Is it supposed to be better or worse? Because within 3 posts LeCuvier has managed to claim both.... ?
  13. Yes it certainly does, as it should. But usually doing this causes more problems than the extra little bit of G for a few seconds helps you. If you trim tail heavy into the turn then you lose all ability to push the nose down, or in extreme cases even just fly straight. Considering the way most pilots in dcs tend to either on purpose or by accident use backflips, cartwheels or just wild pushing of the stick against the instrument panel as their go to evasive maneuvers you end can't react fast enough to change direction with them. You also lose alot of feeling for how far you can pull without stalling if you use the trim. It takes different stick deflection depending on where the trim is set. Especially in high G turns you bleed speed so quickly that it is very easy to stall the airplane suddenly, which cancels out any advantage you may have gotten from using the trim in the first place. When I fly Mustang I notice alot of people doing this. They pull like crazy in the 109 and it works because of the stick forces for a bit, but then as it gets slower they stall, the wings waggle and they are a sitting duck. Its much smarter in the 109 to just pull the power out a bit, maybe add some flaps or reduce prop pitch for some drag and tighten the turn like this than playing with the trim. Mostly the trim would only help above 400-450 kmh anyway (unless server lag is making stick forces at 300kmh again). Most turning dogfights get slow very fast, where the trim is not useful anymore.
  14. It's usually more trouble than its worth in dogfights. I think Walter Schuck mentioned in his book that he used it in a dogfight once but who knows how common it was. It's use causes much rage on other forums where some people think it gives the 109 an unfair advantage in the game. In DCS you're really just better off chopping the throttle and slowing down a bit than playing with the stabilizer.
  15.
  16. 2 weeks :P
  17. Just tried that out. Works great. Would be awesome if some of that functionality were standard.
  18. I agree that with the labels as they were before there is definitely not much of a disadvantage with VR. Especially against the ground they were even better than a monitor. Identification is a different story but thats a different topic for another time. IDK what sort of graphics settings you are running but without the labels I spent 30 minutes flying around the entire map (which is already way too big for the number of players) and only found 1 spitfire by accident when he flew right past me near the airfields. My friend was playing on a monitor at the same time and was as blind as I was. Unfortunately the state of spotting in dcs is still that you can see things well from way too far away against the sky (model enlargement) but as you get closer they disappear. You can compensate this to an extent with zoom on a monitor but in VR you can't zoom that much. The best solution would be as eekz said a sort of labels that were hidden when they went behind the wing etc. Unfortunately I don't think we will be getting it any time soon.
  19. Same for VR. Close to impossible without them.
  20. There are 2 types of airplanes: Fighters and Targets!
  21. Thanks eekz. Hopefully will test it later today.
  22. My guess is it has to do with the labels they implemented themselves. Apparently there is now an option to make "dot only" labels or full labels natively in dcs. Although the "dot" labels are a Caret ( this symbol ^ ) and not a dot. I assume whatever they changed broke it as it was definitely not working yesterday.
  23. Unfortunately this was never how it was in DCS. I don't know where the terrain friction values are stored but it seems at the moment all they have played with is the friction of the tires. @Rolds Here is the FMOptions.LUA I have at the moment. I deleted it and did another repair to make sure, but this is definitely what is included with the current Open Beta Patch. FMOptions.lua
  24. I and a squadmate looked through the fm options luas. Both after deleting all mods and doing dcs repairs. The values are definitely different, and grass landings have become much more difficult again.
  25. Seems like it was adjusted again in the latest Open beta patch. Seems to be more or less the way it was before.
