So flying multiplayer tonight on the Burning Skies MAD noticed that closing the canopy he could hear hydraulic sounds (like on the jets for closing the canopy) when I closed my canopy. I heard them on his aircraft as well. My own canopy sounds were normal from inside the cockpit. Testing it in singleplayer it all sounds normal.

1.55 release version-missing gun sound
DefaultFace replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Bugs and Problems
This bug seems to have gotten worse in the 1.5.6 patch. I now regularly lose the cannon sound, especially in dogfights online when alot is going on. -

It is most certainly an exception. I'm sorry but yesterday 3 times alone I shot P-51s with 30mm and they just smoke a little and fly on home. I have a video somewhere of a P-51 absorbing 5 30mm hits in the tail and being just fine (admittedly also an outlier). Generally it takes about 2 or 3 to kill an enemy. In my experience Spits are a bit more believable than Mustangs in this area. Is it possible to one hit? Sure. But it rarely ever happens.

30mm One hitting? What reality are you living in and how do I get there?

eekz please add a ping limit on the server. People flying around with 400 ping only make for warpy targets and ruin server performance.

Its the trailer soundtrack. Sorry if the title was misleading. Sorta just posted it in between sorties so wasnt fully concentrating.

Just found this. Seems like a good sign! 2 Weeks!!! :P

Ill leave the rest for someone else but 4. @ 2:46 or so

lol. Not really but whatever you say.... 2 stripes of flaps let the aircraft come up on the mainwheels a bit sooner. Other than that not much difference.

[INVESTIGATING] Losing 1 wing and keeping ...

Many spits seem to have at least 2 tails in DCS atm though -
[INVESTIGATING] Losing 1 wing and keeping ...
DefaultFace replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yo-Yo I believe Darkraiderss means losing 95-100% of one wing not of the total wing area. i.e. 50% of the surface area lost but with an asymmetric break (one wing completely gone, the other still there). I, as well as a few others here, can confirm that the spit seems to be able to just balance this out with the rudder and keep flying. It is also by no means a rare occurrence. -
[INVESTIGATING] Losing 1 wing and keeping ...
DefaultFace replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in Bugs and Problems
To be fair the above case only happens when you rarely manage to get an equal break on both sides. Even then usually it still ends in a quick death. When one wing is lost to the root it tends to be uncontrollable. That being said I've definitely seen Spits with wings lost to the wing root just fly like it was normal several times in the last week or so. All aircraft do it in DCS. Not to mention Mustangs with grapefruit sized holes in their wings that can still pull max performance turns....... Hopefully the new Damage Model will address the aerodynamic effects of damage as well. -
1-2 players in a B-17 and a formation of 4 or 5 aircraft is easily achievable. No one said we need to have combat boxes of 80000000 aircraft flying around. And maybe it isn't that different diving on a player B-17 flying straight and level. But it is different for the P-51s flying escort. It is different for the guys flying the bomber. I'm sure there are more than enough people who would enjoy it that you wouldn't have any problem finding squads to fly them regularly. As far as pricing people out I can't Imagine a B-17 is more complex to develop than an F/A-18 or any number of jets that have been developed. Secondly even if it was you are just guessing as to how ED would price and/or develop a module. You have no Idea what is and isn't realistic here, nor does anyone else apart from ED.
-
And how on earth do you know what makes financial sense for ED? I doubt you have any more of an Idea than anyone else here. Playable Attack and Bomber aircraft would certainly help flesh out the experience that is DCS WWII atm. While I don't personally dislike the dogfight servers we have atm, many people do and want something more campaign/scenario like. I can't blame them for it as it would definitely be tons of fun to have missions like that. AI is usually by nature lacking in the I part. Letting humans do the striking/ground attack roles makes stuff more interesting and challenging for everyone. If you don't want to fly anything but fighters then thats fine, but assuming its disinteresting or pointless because of that is silly. I don't want to fly bombers either. Hell I don't think I'd get in anything bigger than a Bf 110. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like attacking a player controlled B-17 formation. Also by the argument that 'it takes along time to develop' you could have most stuff in DCS not developed... Should ED quit working on the P-47 because we already have Fighter airplanes? It adds nothing new. Certainly less than a Bomber/Striker would. Edit: Saying fighters only role is dealing with bombers mostly just reminds me of comments about Bomber Generals who don't understand how Fighters work/can be utilised and don't understand how Airpower works. However one of a Fighters many roles certainly does have alot to do with Bombers. If you had read this thread you would have seen how people tend to treat AI bombers that wander around at 25000 ft. Pretty much they are ignored...

Don't think it turned out to be a waste in any of the other ww2 sims. Just because you wouldn't fly it doesn't mean no one else will.

Spitfire better than P-51D for online matches?
DefaultFace replied to TripRodriguez's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
It's not really like the playing field isn't tight as it is. The only advantage of the 109 is a bit of speed. And that speed is certainly not easy to make use of. Try running away from a spit with equal energy.... good luck cause it aint no cakewalk. -

I didn't lose the tail in this case...... The wings. If you lose anything on the rudder/the whole tail in the 109 she becomes definitely unrecoverable. Unlike some of the other aircraft in DCS.... -

Of course it's seeing it. It becomes almost impossible to fly. 99.99999999999999999999% of the time you will never recover this but occasionally you can balance it with the rudder. Not easy though. -

If the 150 hp it added are so insignificant then why do people lose their mind about an extra 200 for the Pony...... -

^^hehehe. :music_whistling: totally never had this conversation. I really struggle to understand what more people want with the spit. I find it very competitive. If you can't kill things in the spit you're doing something wrong.
