One word: Jesus.

I ran full throttle and Mw-50 for over 10 mins and I killed it for sure . . .

I just managed to kill the 'Stang in a turnfight. I used scissors and a few times I extended away but still in the same plane as him. the AI P-51 was trying to out-climb me at low altitudes though . . don't know why he did that.

Use the module manager, works for me.

A picture is worth a thousand words . . . Landing: Takeoff: I just went ahead and used the instant action for landing, then I taxied around and took off again. Almost landed short of the runway, I thought the red lights were on the runway, not before it!

It's hard to fly! Well, lets change that to hard to dogfight. Engine management is a breeze, and the thing climbs like a beast, as long as you have some speed to begin with. MW-50 can run for quite a while, and you can really feel the power in that Jumo engine. Now on to combat. You can not turn with the P-51. The only way to get at it is to extend away to altitude and dive back on him. I am finding the EZ42 quite hard to use, and mostly just waiting until I get close and hoping for the best. It does work well for turning deflection shots, but any other shot is very hard to aim. The bullets from the MG-151 and the MG 131 both lose energy very fast, and you have to compensate with a lot of lead. This, combined with the DM problems where bullets don't do enough damage make shooting down the 51 very difficult. When manoeuvring in the Dora, it seems to spin fairly easily, so keep that in mind. It is very easy to recover though. TL; DR: Boom and zoom is effective, don't turn with the Mustang, and guns are hard to aim. flare

Good to know. I'm almost finished dling. Those ponies will be flaming wrecks soon enough! flare

I also agree. Great idea!

Me too. But the dora will have to do for now.

At some parts in the video it is, but most of the time the view is slightly to the right. This means that the view is centred on the gunsight, not the middle of the cockpit. If you watch the start-up and taxi videos it is much more prominent. I sure hope we have an option to change this.

So, I was watching the Dora videos that Wags posted, and I noticed that the default head position is slightly off to the right of centre, to align the line of sight with the gunsight, War Thunder/Wings of Prey style. This would affect rearward visibility, since the head is off to the right, view to the rear from the right side of the cockpit would be slightly improved, and the view to the left rear would be worse, as the camera would not be able to got the same angle. I know this problem can be avoided with 6DOF and TrackIR, but for those who do not have a TrackIR, would it be possible to have the default camera/head position in the centre of the cockpit (as it would be IRL) and have a command for "Lean to Gunsight" as in Cliffs of Dover? This would make looking around out the cockpit, forward and backwards, easier, and aiming in combat would be just as easy, as there would be only one button press to correct the head position to the gunsight. Just my thoughts. flare

Yay! I finally can choose the best aircraft ever designed (hint: Spitfire) for my rewards! Now I regret only pledging $20. :(

Awesome! Do the guns work? I'd like to fly this, if you have a download link.

Hope you guys like it! I tried making the camera movements smoother, I added some colour correction, small vignette just for looks and a sort of awesome end title clip.

Hello there DCS community Flare here. I am currently working on using the TF-51D cockpit for the P-51D, so I can use the TF-51D with weapons. So far, what I have done, is made the P-51D a flyable, using the TF-51Ds cockpit. The only problem is, the weapons won't fire. I can easily load gun ammo and external bombs/rockets/fuel tanks in the ME, but there is no way of firing them. I think it is because there is not an option for firing guns (or any weapons)in the "default.lua" in the inputs folder on the TF-51? (I am using the TF-51 input files for flight control.) I have searched around in other aircraft's flight control "default.lua" input files, but there is no line for "Fire guns" or anything similar. What do I have to put in the input files for the guns to work? Thanks for any help. flare

Norway, Sweden, anything Scandinavia please.

Wow. And this first flew 22 years before the Flanker, the plane which many thought was the first to perform the cobra. flare

Thanks Joey. I already had drawings for the exterior, but the walkaround was a nice find! Does anyone know where I could get manuals?

And the 190 takes the lead! :yay:

Which Trainer/Light Attack Aircraft Interests You Most?

Really hard to say, as I love the AlphaJet, but alas, I voted Hawk on pure awesomeness. -
An amazing comeback by the Focke-Wulf!

Hi I'm starting work on a flyable Dassault Super Etendard, and I need as much documentation as possible. Drawings, photos, manuals, pit shots (NOTICE: I probably won't include a cockpit in the first release), weapons, everything. Your help would be appreciated!

Spitfire is the ONLY correct answer here. That's real beauty. -
Again, guys. Focke-Wulf and Messerschmitt. Not Ford and Mercedes. Not flying bricks. NOt peices of garbage. Everybody has opinions, but PLEASE DON'T GO OFF TOPIC AND ARGUE ABOUT MEANINGLESS STUFF!
