I was floored. After three days and multiple attempts at downloading, it installed an hour before bed. I've been a flight simmer for a quarter-century now and have never seen anything as beautiful as this. Naturally I took the F15 for a tour of Las Vegas and was stunned at everything. This map is a work of art. The frame rates are exceptional. The sense of distance and perception of horizon is like nothing I've seen. Talk about a new lease of life!

I have to say, if I could do it again I would have waited another month or two and saved for the Warthog stick. The Saitek SST software used to program the stick would try the patience of a saint - convoluted and overly complex. And using Windows 8 the product actually fails to work at times (known and permanent issue). I have to lubricate the stick with vaseline every few weeks (hilarious how to video from Froogle here: ) Support is next to none, and you will get better assistance from forums here and at SimHQ. Finally, I will never buy Saitek again. But like I said in my previous post, if you are really stuck, the X55 will do. It's "done" me for the last 12 months.

Hi Rodd I have been using it for one year. There's a great profile out there by Athlonic, and because of that the HOTAS set up is good. The throttle part is good to very good. DMS, TMS, CMS, TRIM & Coolie hat buttons all work well with that profile. The stick is acceptable to passable. It's rudder function works fine. But the stick design and feel is poor to bad. Sure, it will do what you want it to do, but it doesn't feel comfortable. Given that there are no alternatives, I would say go for it, but it doesn't take long for you to realize what you have is really a distant second best. It's what I use though and that profile makes flying sweet in tandem with TrackIR.

Same here. Ctrl-Alt-Delete is the way I get out of most vanilla A10C missions. Win 8.1. gtx 970, i7, 16gm ddr

Some graphical observations since running 1.5: In the F15 landing 'quick-mission', when I replayed the landing, the map was off by ~100 meters. The runway was approx 100M to the right of my glidepath. When dog fighting through clouds, my machine took *random* frame rate hits, even flying through the same cloud (in other words it had previously loaded). This did not happen in all clouds (using the F15). Flying through clouds, they would pop-in and suddenly appear / disappear. Often with a stutter. (Again this did not happen at all flight levels - sometimes it would be smooth / natural as silk). Fly-by view (F3): as the plane comes into view (yet is still too far for close up) there's a delay of motion, followed by a sudden jolt. It is not a smooth viewing fly-by as it was prior to 1.5 until the model is closer. This happens in a variety of conditions (with / without clouds). It seems to happen when the aircraft changes from being "out of focus" to becoming "in-focus". I have Win8, GTX970, 16GRAM, 4.3 Processor.

I never thought the potential for flight simming would get this good.

Weekend Flash Sale July 31 to August 3 Discussion!
Captain Spears replied to NineLine's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I'm trying to buy the Ultimate Argument campaign during the flash sale but the yellow "buy" button isn't there. In it's place reads "Need another product". Any advice? Edit: and yes, I own the SU27. Thanks, S. -
Amazing work. Thank you and well done!

Leatherneck Simulations Monthly Update - January 2015
Captain Spears replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Thank you for this informative, light and just like the Mig21 training missions, humorous post! I cannot wait to see what you release next. I have been flight simming since the 1980's and no plane brought a smile to my face in the way the Mig21 did upon my first take off. I will never forget it. Incredible work. S. -
Left handed stick recomendation please
Captain Spears replied to imk's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I am a south-paw too. Played flight sim this way since F16 on the Commodore 64 in 1987! Two months ago, when I got my first throttle and HOTAS, and decided to become a big boy and fly the way real pilots do. The reward was immense, and now feels as natural as ever. Do it! -
Hello - Can anyone please assist me with this god-awful software. I have two issues. 1. I am trying to program the left throttle to act as RPM throttle in the P51 Mustang. I can't for the life of me get it to work using axis' percentages, and everything else I've tried. 2. The right throttle thumbwheel; when I turn it forward (to deploy countermeasures Aft in Athlonic's excellent A10C profile), all of a sudden it causes the aircraft to accelerate / decelerate. It's now acting as a throttle! I would love some assistance here before I lose it completely! :book: Thanks, Spears

X-55 how to get profile working in DCS?

Just to close this. I had to reinstall the driver. Things appear to be working now. Thanks for your advice. Spears. -
X-55 how to get profile working in DCS?
Captain Spears replied to Captain Spears's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Here lies the problem. I am unable to click on the profile button. It's simply passive and doesn't respond. I've loaded the profile in HUD software, I see all the bindings, but Profile and Test remain inactive. What am I missing? -
X-55 how to get profile working in DCS?
Captain Spears replied to Captain Spears's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks - I will try when I get home today. Re: the keybinds, I didn't receive instructions on those. Regardless, will update this thread later and PM you if necessary. Thanks for piping in here. -
Hey Guys - Does anybody know how to get the profile I downloaded and running in the HUD software, working in DCS? I loaded Athlonic's profile, installed it in HUD, fired up A10C, deleted all profiles commands associated with X55, and nothing works apart from x, y, axis and throttle. None of Athlonic's HOTAS commands work. Also, in the HUD software, I cannot get 'test profile' to work, but the programmed commands (and associated keyboard inputs) all show up. Many thanks, S.

TrackIR5 A10C interference issues
Captain Spears replied to Captain Spears's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the assistance. I took all of the above into account and the experience improved. Fingers crossed it stays this way! -
Hey guys - I've tried a search for this but can't seem to find an answer: I seem to be getting some kind of interference when using TrackIR with DCS A10C (admittedly I haven't tried it with another module yet). TrackIR is new but it works flawlessly with ARMA3 and Rise of Flight. The symptoms I am experiencing are: in-cockpit flight appears normal for a few minutes, and then all of a sudden the cockpit-view becomes erratic and uncontrollable, and resetting to center won't even fix it. I've adjusted TrackIR sensitivity to light etc. and as I said, works fine in other sims. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks, Spears

On Tuesday I bought the F86 Sabre at a discounted price of $39.99, only to see it reduced further today to $11.99. I love what you guys do, and am happy, keen and eager to pay full price for these unmatched and remarkable simulations, but it feels like a bit of a low punch to discover I could have paid less today for an aircraft I haven't even flown yet! On the plus side - I am delighted I was able to purchase Black Shark 2 today, at such a great price - thank you for that. And I know at least my money is going towards sustaining this incredible platform.
