  1. Plus at times the pod FOV would jump around to nearby areas outside of tracked object. Or even when untracked (not tracking), trying to move the FOV towards one direction feels "draggy" and slow to move, even suddenly hopping to another nearby spot on its own.
  2. For something so simple it seems the eagle does it in quite a mangled way ... so I found that to store a patched map and recall later, do these :- 1) To Store >>> Freeze patch / 2) Boxed up STO / 3)Unfreeze and proceed to play with map *** Important -- Leave the STO as BOXED, do not unbox 2) To Recall >>> Freeze / 2) Click NEW -- This brings back the stored map 3) Unfreeze and continue when done
  3. Quite a few of us reported TPOD bouncing around too much whenever the plane maneuver, sometimes even when done gently. Hope this could be looked into.
  4. I encountered this too, then realised it was because Autopilot was ON. Turn that off, and both would appear again.
  5. So the process should be :- 1) Zoom to desired level 2) Freeze and box up STO 3) Unfreeze, move around / zoom in/out of areas 4) To recall previous stored image, click New PB Is the above correct? Thought I tried it, but click on New did nothing.
  6. I am pretty sure I was looking at the spot where the vehicle should be. Vehicles were all added the same way, was able to find and see all except that one.
  7. I find the storing of ground radar and the recalling of the stored image rather confusing to use. Does anyone know the correct sequence of storing an image, go on to do something else on the radar, and then recalling back that stored image?
  8. Yes I confirmed the pod just doesn't seem to hold steady, even when object has already been tracked and designated. Can move around quite a bit whenever aircraft maneuvers.
  9. I commanded the TPOD to look into an area that confirmed (via F10) to have a tank target, but the pod shows up only blank ground, with no tank in it. There was never such problem before the latest patch. In the A10C II, it was the Mav that just could not show up a ground target that has already been made SPI. Anyone else seen this?
  10. I had a tank object made SPI and slaved the Mav to it, but the tank just doesn't show up on the Mav, even when well within range. The Mav MFD just show a blank ground, and thus cannot be locked. On the other hand, in the F15E, it was the TPOD that sometimes cannot show up any ground target vehicle. The A10C's TGP also sometimes could not display a ground vehicle target. There was never such problem before the latest patch. Anyone else seen this?

    Is PVU Needed?

    Ok thanks Klarsnow.

    Is PVU Needed?

Thanks Klarsnow. Just to clear up some confusion, so it is recommended that in the current DCS F15E, it is advisable to do INS PVU updates especially each time before making a map? I assume the model now is default to EGI. Should I wish to change to INS, how can that be done? Thanks.

    Radar Freeze and Store

    Okay noted on that, thanks.
  14. In the video I noticed the 60 degrees check turn is to the left. As the TPOD is mounted on the left, would turn to right be better? Doing that allows me to turn back left after pulling away to continue observing and possibly targeting other targets with the TPOD on the left.

    Is PVU Needed?

Thanks a lot, Hatman, for the very illuminating advice. Pardon my ignorance, but how does one switch between MN and EGI as default? Or is EGI already the default? On the radar screen, it shows as MN at the top left screen. And for INS PVU updating, does one really need to wait 3 to 6 minutes for a good accuracy update? Thank you.

    Radar Freeze and Store

Thanks much for that, will give that a try. Good that the system knows to continuously track the spatial positioning even with the image frozen / stored.

    Is PVU Needed?

I ran the mission starting hot from runway and all default cockpit settings. I could be that the radar image was captured from too far a distance and full resolution has not been built yet.
  18. Thanks for that. I quoted the above from Grim Reaper who posted many clips on the F15E. Will try at higher speed next time.
  19. Is it correct that there is a speed limit (up to 350 knots) when laser designating a target and using the CCRP Auto mode? There were times when the GBU missed when I flew too fast, though there were times when it hit nicely even at speed above 350. Anyone else observed this?
  20. While there are good Youtube tutorials on radar freezing and storing, for practical use, how does that come in being useful? For pop-up attacks, I could have used the radar to mark a point while still far away, dive low, and when at IP, pop up again to re-acquire and CUE the TPOD to the mark point for a more refined aiming and designating prior to dropping bomb on it. All without storing the image.

    Is PVU Needed?

Is PVU updating needed? I understand with EGI, PVU is not needed. There was an occasion when I CUE the TPOD to look at where the radar was pointing (a small building), but it pointed a distance to the left of the building instead. Is there an inherent inaccuracy, or perhaps PVU is needed?

    TACAN Sound Issue

Can anyone help confirm, is there a bug in the TACAN morse code sound? At times it didn't sound, even though the volume was tuned up, though there were times I thought I heard it (together with that from the ILS).

    Flight Control Caution

Belated thank you, folks. Glad to see the eagle this well modelled. About the max G allowable as shown on the HUD, it always show as 9G. Shouldn't it shows a smaller G number if the plane is loaded up with lots of ordnance? That way pilots would know how much G to pull without exceeding the limit. As for the Flight Control Caution lighting up, I think it could be because I was in Autopilot and had proceeded to move the stick without first turning off the AP. Kind of like the warning one gets in the A10C.
  24. Most videos of the real F15E show them deploying the speed brake during the flare, instead of just after touch-down. Which is better? Opening the brake during flare does tend to distract and even affect the flaring effort somewhat.
  25. I noticed when banking the plane, both rudders seem to flip the wrong way. For instance, when banking to left, both rudders flip outward to right instead of left. Given the adverse yaw, shouldn't the rudders flip to left to counteract like in small aircraft?
