Was doing a strike mission when half way Caution lit up about problem with Flight Control, but no control issue as detected at first. Sometime later, during a high-G pull-up from a steep dive, the plane started vibrating and control was mushy and a little sluggish. Managed to land back though. Anyone encountered this before? What could have caused those issues? *Edit* -- I did turn on only one bleed air blower (left or right), to bring down the cockpit noise as someone had suggested. Does that matter? Is avionics cooling simulated?

Real sweeet, folks ! Thanks.

Love the starting splash screen of the top-down view of the speeding eagle a lot. Does anyone know where on the drive directory can that picture be found? Thanks.

That's cool ! I was thinking it be great if there is a spot for community to post up their own screenshots for others to ogle at, that would be nice. Sorry, okay so I found that in another post. Nice !

I noticed coming in on short final at 22 AOA or so, the flight path marker gets very likely to disappear below the HUD (flashing) during the flare. Is this normal and correct in the real jet? Also, in the overhead break landing, the manual says on downwind (at 1600 AGL) keep the runway sight picture between the wing tip and outer rack. Isn't that too close? Wouldn't keeping a small gap between wing tip and runway allow for a less stall-prone break turn through base to final? (I mostly keep to 1500 AGL). Found that the jet needs quite a bit of increased power and tight turn on base turn just to keep it a safe margin from stall.

SO bottom-line, is PFM supposedly more accurate / better than AFM ?
-
But I remember seeing some posts using only 2K monitors. Just haven't figure out what's the secret sauce, for a long while now.
-
How about sharing on some cool re-paints and/or screenshots of the Eagle here? Would be nice to see them here, and grab some nice skins too !
-
Understand that the FM is AFM instead of PFM. Does that make much difference in the flight modelling? How good is that at this early launch stage? Also, what are the major features that are still work-in-progress? Always enjoy A2G, been enjoying the A10C (also the F5E), and this eagle seems to bring on the best of that both.

Indeed this one looks real promising, among the fleet of DCS aircraft I've owned over the past 10+ years. Seems to fly real good, though somewhat twitchy in the pitch. Is it so in the real jet? As for the curve setting for the stick, I put in a 25% for pitch for my WH HOTAS. While I'm quite a "purist" too when it comes to simming, I also know it would be bluffing myself to pretend a non-extended / modded original HOTAS should act and feel the same as the long pole in the actual jet. And 25% seem to work out nicely.

What is most puzzling for me is seeing how so many Youtube clips showing labelling lamps AND MFD / HUD that are super crisp and sharp, that I wonder what they did to their systems, that I am not able to, even though I run a decent high-end system. Anyone knows how they did it?
-
Thanks YoYo, but I've seen many Youtube videos and they are all sharp and crisp even when zoomed out a distance. Tried 2x MSAA and still the same. (You have to look at those Caution Lights on the caution panel. They are almost illegible, unless zoomed much closer.

Just got this awesome plane ... but really hope someone could point the way to fixing this. Those lamp labels (eg Cautions Lights Labels, Wheel Down lights, etc.) are always looking blurry even though I have almost all settings maxed out (see attached cockpit and settings screens). And this problem is not only present in the F15E, but in ALL other modules, where light-up labels are concerned (eg. Nosewheel Steering light, etc.). Even other labelling / markings in cockpits also look a little blurry, though not as bad. Only when zoomed in real close does the blurriness disappear. I have followed numerous suggestions in trying out all sorts of Nvidia settings, but nothing seems to help. I run a rather high end PC and can get good fps most time. LG 32" Gsync monitor. Any help very much appreciated. See attached screenshots. Thank you.

Graphics issue, blurry text in DCS main menu as well in cockpit
Avio replied to Gideon312's topic in 2D Video Bugs
I have blurry texts / wordings / labels in DCS for a long time now. My system is rather high end with RTX3080 and have most stuff set to highest in DCS. Recently changed to a new 32 inch LG G-Sync, and had followed most recommendations to NVI settings including from this thread, but still same problem. Had that problem too previously in an older system. In the attached image, labels such as "Steering Enabled", gauges, buttons' texts, etc., are all quite blurry, whereas videos on YouTube mostly show texts to be very clear. Any advice appreciated. Note - You need to expand on attached Pic to see clearer. -
For example, landing gear lights (Green / Red) is now very hard to see as it appears rather dim. Before 2.8, they show up very clearly under all environment lighting.
-
Noticed that hotkeys no longer toggle. Take the engine de-ice / dust-protector for example. First toggle works to de-ice, but subsequent toggles did nothing. It was all okay prior to the 2.8 update.
-
I have been happily firing the KH-25ml with no problem the past two weeks, but with the latest 2.8 update, it no longer tracks after the laser. Instead, it falls to the ground upon firing, even after long enough time for the laser to cool.

reported Ka-50 - Cockpit is neither in Russian nor in English
Avio replied to NightMan's topic in General Bugs
I confirm this problem. Caution labels, when light up, show in Russian. -
Thanks much folks for your detailed replies. They make much sense indeed. On the use of right rudder at higher speed, I find that seems necessary as otherwise the shark would start drifting slowly to the left with time, when flying straight and level with no rudder input, with the slip ball skewing quite a bit to the right, the higher the speed gets. With right rudder input, however, the shark would then fly true and straight. This observed yaw to left (if uncorrected) at higher speed, could it be because of the “pinched” rotors on the right side during high speed forward flight? Anyone noticed this?
-
Just gotten back to flying the wonderful Shark after a long time flying the awesome Mi-8. Noticed the amazing rotors flapping sound when maneuvering around or changing rotor rpm. Is this flapping sound always present since release? Or is this a newly added feature? The Mi-8 does not seem to model much flapping sound, or is that the case in the real Mi-8?
-
So I bought the Apache yesterday, and was so disappointed with the yet to be tuned FM that I am back to flying my beloved Mi-8 and BS2. In the BS2, at higher speed, the twin rotors appear to be closer together on the right side of helo when viewed from outside from the front. Why is that so, when it is supposed to be symmetrical? Is it due to gyro precession issue? Is that the cause of the helo needing much right rudder to keep the ball centered at higher speed? Or is this a bug in the modelling even? Hope someone could help shed light on this. Thank you.

Been flying the Hip consistently for some time already, and just noticed a dull pitch humming sound in the cockpit when cold and dark before engine start. This happens after applying the latest patch. Even after a proper startup and shutdown, with everything completely switched off, the humming sound is still there, as if some equipment or something is still in the ON state. Anyone else noticed this ?

aircraft suddenly pitches up when crossing runway threshold
Avio replied to prof_laser's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just to update that I had flown some random flights and missions around Syria map at some 5 different airports and so far, none showed up the ballooning problem on flaring to land. Nor was there any sudden pitching down mid-flight. But as I reported earlier, over at Mariana map (Antonio airport), both issues were rather consistent. Had also encountered the pitch-up on flaring over at Abu Dhabi airport, PG map. Have not tried the rest yet, but there have been reports of similar problems for those who fly PG missions. So while it could be a trimming problem, why then is it that the problems are so specific only to certain maps / airports? This is puzzling. The pitching up problem has been bugging the A10C for some years on and off now, and this thread has been around for many months by now. Is ED even aware of this? Any fix coming up? This is obviously a pretty serious bug, for it spoils an otherwise awesome aircraft at the conclusion of an exciting mission, for example. DCS is an awesome program, THE only authentic fighter simulation in the market, but definitely not the only flight simulation program. Over the years / months, like many others I suspect, I have been much drawn to flying MSFS many a time instead. It would pay ED to be more attentive to devotees, for flying enthusiasts attention could easily switch to other platforms and stay there for extended duration. Segments that could have stayed loyal with ED for much longer otherwise. Used to buy pre-releases in the past, but not anymore. Most should know why. Not wanting to be paid beta-tester. -
aircraft suddenly pitches up when crossing runway threshold
Avio replied to prof_laser's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just re-installed everything fresh on a new PC and very certainly confirm that this strong pitch up motion when landing crossing threshold is there and largely repeatable (at Mariana map). Full flaps with airbrake at 60%. However when I intentionally use only half flaps (also tried no flaps), there was no pitching up. Suspect it could be a bug somewhere with the ground effect over-reacting upon the full flaps? Had noticed this problem from years back in the older A10C as well. On another issue, shortly after take-off while climbing to 3000 ft or so, occasionally the nose would suddenly experience strong pitch down, even though I did not push the stick forward, to trim down. These two issues are a serious distraction that takes away much of the fun in flying this newer A10C module, and really substracts so much from an otherwise very fine add-on. Could the developer please comment on this? Have these problems been taken note of already, and is remedial action underway to fix them? Really hope they would be fixed soonest. -
What is that Cannister behind the APU ?
Avio replied to Avio's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Thanks very much again. I figured too that both rotors and their drives are critically important. Always wondered how safe helos are to fly in, given that almost its whole safety depends on a few blades of flimsy, flexi, pieces of metal, all the while lifting insane weights and/or undergoing tremendous stress during some of the more heart-thumping maneuvers. Really enjoyed reading through your narratives on the maintenance. That one about the tail rotor gearbox failure, happened to me once virtually -- was taking off in the DCS Mi-8 and realized there was no tail rotor authority at all. Found out it was that my rudder pedals somehow was not picked up when DCS started. Plugging out and re-plugging solved that. One more reason for taking all pre-flight checks seriously !!
