  1. And from the changelog I can see there is still no fix for the broken Su-25T ECM light that's been broken since 1.2.8 open beta, which frankly is more important than some of the fixes/changes I've seen in this (and previous) logs.
  2. Personally would rather have the MiG-31. It's the only module/aircraft I would after buying the Mi-8 consider spending money on. Otherwise I have all the DCS modules that interest me and won't be adding to them anymore (except if they decide to make a Su-30 or Su-35 of the complexity of MiG-21 - something that I know I can only dream of).
  3. Stick a couple of wings on that thing and it'll actually be useful. :P
  4. Looks like that ECM light in the Su-25T (an issue that appeared with 1.2.8 Beta) still hasn't been fixed. When will it be? :( You're disappointed about the Dora? Those of us flying the Mi-8 haven't had ANY updates since April! None. Not even fixes, much less new stuff. The thing has been released for over a year and it's still in Beta and still lacking 80% of what the Huey has - we have no sling-loading, no additional gunners, lights inside don't work (useful for night missions), most switches are useless... Heck, we don't even have a flight manual! When you're stuck for over a year at such a dead-end, THEN you can be disappointed (no offense meant, this is just frustration talking, not aimed at you)!:mad:  While on the other hand that developer studio is churning out new betas and abandoning old - seriously disappointed with Belsimtek. Poor show. :(
  5. Created this topic because I couldn't see anyone else asking for it, most other topics are about sling-loading, manuals or even cabin fans. Mi-8 can be made into a powerful gunship, not just with fixed weapons, but also with up to 3 gunners (nose, tail, side), that rock anything from PK's to grenade launchers and even heavy machineguns, like it can be seen in the Wings of Russia documentary "Mi-8! The Magnificen Eight!". Right now the baby has no defensive armament, so it would be nice if we had gunners that we could order to just protect us from enemies they see and that they can be effective against. For me that is more of a priority than sling-loading (how heavy a load will Mi-8 be able to sling? Vehicles?). As it is, we already have switches for nose-mounted pkt's on our weapon panel, would be nice if we finally got to play with them. :) Also, would be great if we actually had to open the clamshell and sliding doors in order for troops to actually get in.
  6. I just have to remember what happened to the ArmA multiplayer community when Dayz became popular and attracted FPS players (CoD kiddies, cheaters, script kiddies and all that other vermin) and change my "no" to "Hell no!".
  7. First off, I'm not sure this is possible, because I don't know how powerful the mission editor and mission scripting in DCS is. In Arma2, my only mission scripting experience, it is already implemented in some mods for use by players. Anyway, the idea behind this is the automated (on call through the communications menu) recovery of a downed player helicopter (Ka50 especially :D) by a Mi-26 piloted by AI. The fact that a Mi-26 is capable of this and used for sling-transporting other aircraft is beyond debate. Especially useful for multiplayer missions where you have to land due to battle damage, but are not destroyed. It sucks to have to give up and then let yourself be counted as killed when you're still alive and in real world situation would just need to wait for repair units if the damage is not bad enough or a Mi-26 to sling load the baby if trucks can't get to it. Wings of Russia Studio made two excellent docus where they also depict this exact situation/procedure ("Mi-8! The Magnificent Eight!" and Mi-24 "The Warrior", both on Youtube) and how it was perfected in Afghanistan. Personally, most of the time I would rather be willing to wait for an Mi-26 or a repair truck to arrive at my destination and then repair than face the letdown, disappointment and failure of having either to respawn (and be FALSELY counted as killed) or re-slot. That scenario was NOT why I took such pains to land safely when hit, instead of just parking myself nose first in the ground! The ridiculousness of the current system was demonstrated when I couldn't get my chopper fixed even though I was about 50m away from a FARP the other night and then had to reslot. It doesn't have to look perfect, it would be enough if the chopper would be hanging under the Mi-26 on an invisible, stiff line (like in Arma2) when transported back to base, just as long as it's working. Thanks for your time.
  8. Had FPS drop down to 8 in the first Mig SP campaign mission, even though I was basically alone. When it started to go down further I rather closed the game.
  9. Confirming the leak, I have it as well, even in single-player. Didn't have it with open beta.
  10. Strange, I don't have any _backup directory. Only _downloads with size 98.6kb.
  11. Well, my own problem is I can't use the mouse to look anywhere in FC3, which bothers me since I was used to it from the 25T. Is there some key I should press to use it? It's not the best solution to use it in the middle of flying, but the hat on my joystick is not as precise or quick.
  12. Well, looking at the DCS website right this minute the 1.2.8 release (clean new install) is 7.32gb. When I downloaded the Open Beta when it first came out at the beginning of April it was 13.7gb. Both were clean, new and bare installs of just DCSW, no modules. Is it possible that files in the smaller install are compressed, while in Open Beta were "loose files" and that's why only half the size?
  13. Not everyone uses TrackIR...
  14. Why was Open Beta a so much bigger download than the final release version - what are the differences? Which version is recommended to use, an updated-to-final-release installation of Open Beta or a 1.2.7 updated to 1.2.8? Thanks
  15. I searched, but didn't find any answers. Anyway, whenever I want to install tutorial videos for FC3 and World I get the message that DCS World was not detected and the setup is being aborted. I had this problem with both latest 1.2.7 DCSW and every issue of Open Beta, as well as the today's release of full 1.2.8. Like I said, I have both 1.2.8 and 1.2.7 installed (regular versions, not Steam), but they're not being detected. Help very much appreciated!
