IIRC from the Wings of Russia documentary about the Mi-8 one pilot said he took on more than 40 people during one emergency evacuation from a hot zone. He landed in a walled-in courtyard among high buildings and then had to take off over one of those buildings. Besides, it's WIKIPEDIA, not the most reliable source. What is actually possible to sling-load with DCS Mi-8? Arty? Light vehicles? AA vehicles? Flak emplacements? Or only some weird big bags/weights? And how to even make it work in a mission? I wanna transport a zsu emplacement, or maybe AA brdms, on mountains to create a kill zone for enemy fighters. Tnx!

Plus, there's the quite present danger that suddenly guys with guns and blue-yellow markings (or other, older, foreign, more extreme markings from the West...) may be trying to "nicely" persuade you to fly for their country to pay off their county's niceness in teaching you. Making you an offer you can't refuse... Once, if, there is ever peace in Ukraine, or there is a possibility for a full license (with flying lessons, theory, etc.) at this price somewhere more peaceful I'm all for it! Alpha, do you live in US or somewhere else that you can fly them? And how much did a license cost you? PS: I would do just about anything legal for the privilege of being able to fly these amazing machines for real. But I'm too old to sign up for the Russian VVS. And wrong nationality, lol. (Our mil's idiots rather bought French whirlybirds instead of these proven machines) And we ALL know about French quality. j/k

Is there any way to specify what kind of troops to spawn for the trans.mis. at pickzones or even among the extractable unit spawns? For example in the mission I'm making for private use I want to spawn only groups of 2 Igla soldiers to set them off at random points so they can help me with enemy jet fighters. Or can I get the next group only if I drop the first off at dropzones? Tnx!

Yeah, discovered that as well. :( And in the process messed up my game that no controls for ANYTHING (keyboard, joystick, mouse, headtracker) worked anymore. Had to do a repair. It goes in the "default.lua" file in "\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Su-25T\Input\su-25T\keyboard" folder. Just add these three lines at the end of the "sensors" field, after So the last part of "-- Sensors" will look like this: Then just run the game and use RWin+H to toggle NVG. :) :thumbup: :pilotfly:

I found this tiny script to add NVG to Su-25T. It works great for the 25T and 25A, but I just can't get it to work for the 27, 29 or 33. I try editing both the default.lua file in mod/..../keyboard as well as copying this file into savedgames/...su27/.../keyboard. Any idea where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

Honestly I have no idea. I mentioned it to give full picture of the sortie and to account for the two otherwise-missing ET's. :) But would that IR jammer still trick a missile from such a close launching range? I mean I was practically on his six, so those huge engines were a massive heat signature. Btw., Ironhand, I checked out your flanker tutorials and was wondering... considering the advances in the games and updates and so on since they were made, how up-to-date/correct are they still?

Is it just my experience or is the carrier "ball" on the Virtual Aerobatics slightly imprecise? Cause if I follow it I would touch down at the very end of the deck or maybe in water.

Recent single-player experience in a mission that is from a now-defunct server. 1 ER at about 15 km range at a hard-maneuvering F-16 in fight with a friendly AI. Hit and kill. 1 ET at a steady-flying B1B from about 7 km, was on his 5 o'clock, catching up. B1B didn't deploy any flare that I saw, but for some reason the ET just failed to track and flew past it aimlessly. Shot another ET from his 6 o'clock, 5km, hit. Both locked with IRST. 1 ER as it was burning, but flying, 3 km, hit and final kill. Later, 1 ER at a F-16 from 7 o'clock (I was shooting up) that was going for the deck in a gentle left dive, range 10 km. ER got fooled by chaff and missed. Another ER 7 or 5 km range, again miss. 1 R-73 from 3km from his 7 o'clock before I flew past his six, miss, no flares visible, lock with vertical. A minute later another R-73 miss from his 3 o'clock, roughly same distance, lock with HMS. Bug out due to no ordinance left and due to his buddy nearby (for some strange reason neither of them engaged me). Don't have any track or video or even TacView (cause I don't have it period), so take that as a hear-say, but it made for very strange (and slightly disappointing) flight.

I forgot which update it was, but didn't one update this year give helicopters at least partial immunity to detection by planes? I can't remember if it was at any speed or only specific speed like 140kmh or even which update, but I do remember there being one. I would really love to know that cause it would affect my multiplayer gaming. :D

Okay, I got this problem again. Back part among the fins is the problematic one and wheels are miscolored as well. I think the skin is called "Baranovichi AFB" or something like that. Attaching my description.lua: Note, there is no "Su-27_detail" or "Su-27_decol_for" in the folder itself, I copied that from the examples you posted, Blaze. Should I replace them with "empty.tag"? Infestation is not just worms and insects, it's usually applied to creatures in masses that are harmful in places where they don't belong. :smilewink: Like infestation of rats in a house, or termites, spiders, wasps... There are plenty of people who have deathly fear of microbes and insects, to the point where they wash their hands (and bodies) in boiling water. Lol, I know plenty of people who are afraid of CATS! And dogs, even small ones and friendly ones. There are a lot of phobias around the world dealing with non-human terrestrial biological entities, including worms. :D And in this world of ever-changing standards and perceptions, what IS normal nowadays anyway? :huh: :D

I keep forgetting the origin of the theory, but it speculates that humans are one of the tools nature/galactic-balance uses to wipe things clean to make space for a new life/species/chance/etc. Basically with our stupidity and trigger-happy fingers hovering over red buttons we are destined to send the world back into the "primordial times", wiping the Earth clean of life (save cockroaches), so once that era is over a new, maybe better, form of life would take over. Like I said, it's a theory, take it or leave it. - On another topic, zaelu, you have the CPU and mobo I'm considering getting. How are they performing in DCS and how good are they for oc-ing? cpuboss says that 4690k is not much better than 4670k and in overclocking the 70 is actually better than 90. Any impressions? Thanks

Or Su-30, or Su-27 SMK or 27SM or MiG-29K. Or MiG-35 or Su-35 (yes I know, not realistic) or Su-34 or anything else that can carry an R-77 (provided it's finally made correctly) and that has better electronics than we currently have. :beer: ^^THIS! Then compare the BVR capabilities of the ones you listed and the reported (and track-proven) problems with their missiles. :smilewink: Russians are still the underdog in BVR and missile reliability (not RL, but ingame) in DCS. Rage has made a lot of research into that field. ^^THIS. This is the exact problem I've been repeating. I get it that most 3rd party are Western and catering to the Western and pro-Western public, but not everyone is and the rest of us would also like to be equal for once, not always be put in the sub/underdog position. :smilewink:

I have a problem with Freetrack. It's especially noticable when I suddenly move my head quickly to one side to look at something - the view will move in that direction and, after I stopped my head, keep on going a little before stopping and then slowly return a bit in the opposite directin. It's not a game-breaking problem, but in a fast dogfight it can mean difference between life and death. I've seen plenty of clips where people move their head in totally precise movements with none of this inertia and have never been able to copy it. Is it even possible in Freetrack or is that only in TrackIR? PS: nope, not buying TIR, so please don't even suggest - it's an expense I can simply not justify with the little income that I have. I'm afraid that no matter who protests and no matter who signs letters or how many millions of letters are written, the military will do what it wants regardless, even if it means covertly and even if it means covering the costs by claiming they needed thousands of new toilet seat covers in their bases and each one cost $5000 or $10000. @zaelu: the problem here is that robots and AI's have no compassion. There is still a chance that an indoctrinated soldier will have a moment of weakness or compassion and let someone live or not fire a rocket or drop a BDU, but there is no such chance with robots. They will kill everyone their programs allow them, man, woman, child, seniors, mentally/physically challenged, puppies, kittens, maybe the entire world if they're not stopped. And when an AI becomes sentient? What if it decides the world would be better off without us destroying it?
