What did I think of Kiowa? It needs to improve in some areas!
ThorBrasil replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Look at the sounds. With the module installed, the AI now has sound. I saw comments on Discord that the Kiowa can't hover with 100% fuel and 4xhellfire, but apparently it's possible and very easy. I don't know if it's like that in real life, but here's the video proving it.- 591 replies

It's a bug. In the full module there is sound, but the sounds seem a little low. In my video the sounds are at the maximum preset.- 591 replies

My settings in DCS. I use a 3080 12GB, Ryzen 7 3800X and 32GB of RAM. Yes! That's what the textures look like. They look low-res, but the Kiowa is a lot of fun to fly.- 591 replies

Understand! The Kiowa, with these problems I mentioned, makes it already outdated graphically. If this weren't a problem, ED wouldn't be updating all of its modules to current standards. Even the BO-105 had to be remade because of this. The same thing happened to the A-1H from Crosstail Studios. In the future, new modules will be released and, whether we like it or not, the graphics will be a weight on the scale. There's also the issue of AI, which I won't even comment on because everything has already been said in the other topics. I'm sure this can all be fixed, but what really bothered me was that this aircraft didn't deserve the full price. It's simply early access masquerading as "full".- 591 replies

I gave Polychop a vote of confidence for the first time and I regret about 30% of the purchase of pre-ordering. The Kiowa flight model is very fun to fly and I really liked that. The sounds seem very low. I don't know if it was recorded from the real aircraft like the modern modules. This aircraft should be sold with early access because of the points below. Things that need to improve A LOT. 1 - External textures seem to be in low resolution. 2 - External model very low in polygon count. It looks like the modules released about 8 years ago in DCS. It doesn't have the same level of detail as the modern modules. 3 - The animation of the ammunition when firing the .50 doesn't exist. The ammunition doesn't move in the ammunition belt and it doesn't empty when all the ammunition in the .50 is used up. 4 - There is no damage model like the Mi-8, Huey, Apache among others. You can see in the video that the aircraft is indestructible. If all these things were resolved before release the module would be worth full price.

It can also be done by placing a trigger to remove grass from the scene where you build the FARP. -
Early Release of the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Manual
ThorBrasil replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
The early access to the Manual is really cool. I really liked the PDU and will always use it. Is it possible to add it through the F8 menu during the gameplay? I hope the Kiowa is a great success and that it receives improvements in the 3D model (mainly the external one) and textures. I hope the ammo belt has animations when firing the .50 and when it runs out it is empty at launch or later. Thanks! -

This happens with all dcs modules. I believe it will only be resolved if collision physics are added to the grass. The only solution is to put in a FARP. I think I'll buy the Kiowa... -
The important thing is that I hope it's a great release and that it sells a lot. I hope they improve the textures and the 3D model (especially the external one) over time.
-
in fact the A10C v2 and Ka50 v3 received major paid updates after launch.
-
It's not just the cockpit. The exterior model is like that too. It all looks low-poly. It's inevitable to compare it to the Apache and even the Chinok.
-
Polychop said that the Kiowa will receive a better AI in the future to operate the weapons, so it would not be in a "complete" state, but rather in early access. And there is still the issue that @YoYo mentioned. The current AI, when active, makes the aircraft practically without physics. It practically turns it into an arcade aircraft. Until this is fixed. The aircraft should indeed be classified as early access.

The Kiowa will not be discounted at launch. The price will be full. $70.
-
I hope Kiowa sells a lot.

In fact, the Belsimtek project was passed on to HB, but I bet that nothing was used by HB because at the time DCS did not have the technology to develop the F-4E that we know today. The project actually began to be developed about 2 years ago. Anyway! If Kiowa had the standard 30% discount on pre-orders, I would buy it on the first day. The end!
-
Regarding the delays, the Kiowa was in development for 6 years and the F-4E for 2, if I'm not mistaken. So if you follow that line of thinking, the Kiowa should be given a discount.
-
The F-4E is infinitely superior in features and will have even more features and had a launch discount.
-
Yes! Better wait because it makes no difference whether you buy the Kiowa now or later.
-
since you want to spend money so much. You can buy Kiowa for everyone you know and help Polychop grow.
-
The problem is that it will be released as "complete" and out of early access. So everything should be "perfect". You will pay full price at launch.
-
True! I'm not sure which one to buy: Kiowa or CH-47D. Since Kiowa doesn't have a discount, I'll wait for more information about the CH-47D, which will be released this month. Only then will I decide whether to buy the Kiowa or the CH-47D. In a year's time, Kiowa will be the same price, so there's no need to rush to buy it. It's better to wait and see what the community has to say before buying the Kiowa.
-
I'm not confident about buying the Kiowa after watching the videos about the Kiowa. I'll wait for feedback from the community and then I'll consider buying it again. The Kiowa's external 3D model and textures seem below the standard of the latest releases. If you watch the videos and look at the external model, you'll see that there are many things that don't have the same level of detail as an Apache. Now, I don't know about the systems, because the manual hasn't been released yet so that we can actually know what the Kiowa offers. Even the Kiowa's .50 "ammunition belt" doesn't have animation for a full-price aircraft with no discount at launch. You can watch the CasmoTV video about the .50 and you'll see that there's no animation when firing the .50. The external damage model isn't modeled in the videos either, but they said it will be implemented at launch. I'll only believe it when I see it. Regarding the AI, I agree with YoYo.
