  1. I happen to know a server that could use a resident Mig-15 squadron. PM me if you have any requests
  2. Two x 250 lbs bombs if I remember correctly under the wings, the racks were in different locations than the E wing and could not support as much weight. I believe it could also carry a 500lbs bomb center-line or a slipper tank on the latter models smame as the E wing aircraft. Not at my library at the moment, can confirm when I get home...
  3. The Mk IXe could also carry 4x 20 mm cannon in place of the .50 cal and 20 mm combination and 1000lb of bombs.
  4. Looking great, can't wait to add this to my Georgian Spring campaign. We need some RCAF liveries to go with it. We need more cold war era aircraft and helicopters like the S-55 I remember my first flight in one sitting in one of the jump seats for take off and shortly after my father took me up into the cockpit where one of his former students was Capt. I remember looking across at the escape hatch and thinking it looked like a toilet seat. It was family day at the base the day before the annual air show. My next flight was sixteen years later, I had my rifle between my knees, my rucksack was in the pile in the middle and most of my platoon was getting their first flight on one. I looked at the escape hatch when the loadmaster was doing the pre flight safety briefing thought it looked like a toilet seat. Then wondered if this was the very same a/c and if it was one my father had flown! Never found out.
  5. Odd, we ran into a pair Thursday that put up quite a fight despite the odds. Maybe you ran into some that were bingo and on the way home, they tend to take the shortest route home and avoid confrontation.
  6. Maybe, try another slot, if that aircraft has been shot down and the pilot not rescued the aircraft will not be available. Or try another squadron at another base, it may be out of aircraft. Otherwise I am not sure. The server is now running on update 3 - open beta and release users should all be ok.
  7. Yes, if that had been a Sabre, it would have exploded shortly after that shot was taken
  8. Klem, Go to the warehouse in ME and on the EQP tab check unlimited. Save the mission and go back in, it should be fixed. It seems to be a problem when opening a mission with saved warehouse numbers in any update that added new weapons or a/c etc.
  9. It's been up and running all week, not sure why you are not seeing it. About a dozen on yesterday. I am going out of town for the weekend so I'll reset the server beforehand and include a minor update. Bookmark the server when you see it and it will be easier to find in the future.
  10. Will be back up today
  11. Milo, the redesign you're thinking of I think is the MkIXe. The c wing could carry 4 x .303 and 2 x 20 mm or 8 x .303 or 4 x 20mm and at some point, A/C assigned to 2 TAF were modified to carry 2 x 250 lbs bombs. Early c wing MkV may have suffered from a shortage of Hispanos as Spitfire Expert speculated but I also seem to remember that the feed was redesigned again at some point in the MkV production. The e wing could carry 2 x 20 mm and 2 x .50 and 2 x 1000 lbs bombs or 4 x 20 mm. Early e wings had cannon blisters like the MkVc but again the feed mechanism was changed back to a belt and box allowing the cannon to be mounted closer together. This wing I understand was capable of carrying the load but I have heard that the stress of firing the four cannon and carrying the bombs which were positioned directly below the cannon causes stress on the wing and since the primary purpose of the 2TAF MkIXe was CAS the use of the .50 made practical sense anyway so not sure if the structural argument isn't just pure conjecture. I would love to have this as a wing option. The .303 will be next to useless against contemporary opponents, never mind the K-4, the.50 will give ussufficient hitting power to do damage and sufficient ammunition to stay in the fight, the 20mm will give us decisive hitting power but with only 120 rds per gun.
  12. That is likely true, but I think the real problem is that it is spring loaded and unless you hold it at a position it will be one way or the other, you could just use any key to get that effect
  13. I use a POV hat on my joystick, I think you will find the rudder brake pedal difficult in other ways, for example, what will you use for brake pedals? differential braking in the Sabre is fairly useful and the Rudder Brake Pedal is ideally designed for it, on the other hand the POV hat is perfectly designed to act as a POV hat, it zooms in when you depress it and stays at that level of zoom and FOV when you release it unlike a brake pedal which naturally springs back to the fully zoomed out when you release it.
  14. That's possible but I think most players don't operate it in the middle of a dogfight and I would expect that it would stop smoking once the fire was out but it smokes until the engine stops. Conversely, with the Sabre, you get visible flame, lots of smoke followed shortly by a catastrophic explosion and the fire detection system never indicates a fire. I'm fact, I can't remember the fire warning light ever illuminating on the Mig either. The only flame I've ever seen on the Mig is when the wing comes off with an explosion and I can't think of any reason why that would happen, there is nothing in the wing root that would explode and cause the wing to come off, all the ammunition is stored in the lower forward fuselage, the fuel is ahead of the combustion chamber or both sides of the tail pipe in the rear fuselage. I think I need to do some experiments with the fire warning and suppression system in the Mig this evening
  15. Serves you right!:music_whistling: and thanks!
  16. Yes, now that the AI bug has been found I will be adding more air targets. As for bombers, they don't work very well in DCS yet. I had a B-29 mod bomber in the past but if clients do not have the mod installed they won't see it so I sidelined it until I can build a server pack once I get the mechanics sorted for the server. For now I will look at using the B-52 and the Bear on solo high level missions. Also there is an AWACS on the NATO side that is an ideal target. Cargo flights are also present but not currently transporting anything but soon will be vital to resupply Tbilisi. Cargo ships will also be entering and leaving ports along the coast, delivering ammunition and fuel to NATO forces and must be defended or sunk depending on your faction. As soon as we get some era appropriate Naval aircraft (F8F and Sea Fury) and a decent NATO carrier, there will be a carrier group roaming the Black Sea that could be a target to attack or defend. I will look at reconnaissance aircraft and see what I can do, these would be fairly simple to add and could maybe get that out for tomorrow. Feel free to keep making suggestions.
  17. I know where that image was taken, I even know which aircraft that is. Engine fires and damage to the Mig seem to be an issue. Engine fires never seem to end in catastrophic failure, just lots of smoke. The Sabre on the other hand will usually explode shortly after this much damage. Some will argue that it is the result of the 23mm and especially the 37mm round, however set up two sides with Sabers and the .50 cal does cause catastrophic engine failure in another Sabre the same as the cannon round does so I believe it is an issue specific to the Mig. You can certainly shoot down a F-15 with the Sabre easily enough...
  18. 1. Are you sure you are looking in the right place? The Gori Valley is full of targets with vehicles scattered all the way back to Tbilisi and many targets surrounding Sochi as well as most airfields in Russia if you are up for a longer mission. 2. This is not a bug, the warehouses don't have the bombs yet and won't until ED release Update 3 on the stable version. Glad you are enjoying the server, I will be working on the persistence aspect this week until ED release Update 3.
  19. I will keep an eye out for you over Georgia! NOTAM: I have squashed a bug with the AI script and uploaded a new version tonight, AI will be more aggressive. I will be working on more updates to Georgian Spring this week, hopefully we can move it from an alpha to a beta
  20. I think there are what, four official skins for the mig and six for the F86...including two Greek Air Force skins... For the Mig there is Air force of the Soviet Union The all red air show skins One of the Soviet aces, and North Korea All the rest are user made.
  21. Sure they will, the server must have them as well and it is the server that determines what skins are used in MP, not the client.
  22. They have not been added to inventory yet, nor has the server been updated to update 3, I am out of town and Woburn be back until late Sunday evening to do the update.
  23. It is intended to be that large a distance. That is how it worked. Also, consider this, you are sitting on a giant blow torch that is the only thing keeping you airborne and it depends on sucking in great quantities of air through the front end to keep running, oh and it is made of thousands of very delicate parts. Every .50 cal round you put into your adversary create or has the potential to create a cloud of debris large enough to cause your engine to flame out. If engine damage and fires were modeled more realistically due to F.O.D. you would keep your distance. Combat reports from Mig Alley are not uncommon that end with a long glide home because the pilot was too close.
  24. No, this is not the intended behavior. It happened before after an update. I am trying to work out fixing it but it is inconsistent. If you fly a mig, the sabers will always act aggressive.
