Case II \ III - which weather conditions in DCS trigger each one?
JupiterJoe replied to BarTzi's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Case II's are fun. For some reason the clouds/weather seem to move/change rather slowly, despite the carrier steaming along at 20+ knots. I don't think I've ever seen conditions change 'cases' during daylight hours. I guess the weather model is just not dynamic enough yet. Never seen a thunderstorm form for example. -
I too have encountered this issue whilst flying @Reflected's wonderful campaign in recent days. Not that it's an issue specifically to this campaign. Ext. tank issue have plagues this module for quite some time Any comment from the Devs @NineLine?

Be nice to see some icebergs. Could a system similar to the one that generates clouds be used to generate icebergs?
-
Well, it's even smaller than that, because the Afterburner delay upon camera switching is still there. The audio stepping however is fixed. Thank you. Canopy open (or exterior view) and shutting done either engine would result in a 'step' in the audio, rather than a smooth transition/gradual decline. It appears fixed now, so you can remove that from your list, if it's on there. Thanks @scommander2

Does tomorrow's patch contain any input from Heatblur?

F-14 A/B feature follow-up, wish list and beyond
JupiterJoe replied to scommander2's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I would argue that some of the little touches the F4 has are more immersive and helps give life to the virtual environment. Some player's even like to to walk out to their jets and simulate a walk-around. It all helps with immersion: -

That's great news, but when HB say it's 'done', do they include all the bug fixes listed above? Hell, even if it's just a fix for ACLS not working with FFB sticks, it would help. -

something changed with force feedback for F-14
JupiterJoe replied to Jeeve79's topic in Bugs and Problems
Help! My stick goes limp. Passing through another aircraft's wake whilst taxiing breaks FFB for me on too regular a basis. Very frustrating after a cold start and a long wait for alignment etc Here is a bug report I made earlier: -

[Known Issue]Anti-skid permanently activated on starboard gear.
JupiterJoe replied to JupiterJoe's topic in Bugs and Problems
Have a try and see what you think. As I said, it'll take all of 30 secs. -
Wow! That is cool So, I could see this with my NVG's in the F-14? Does anybody know an F-14 mission where this is utilised? I'd love to see this in action. Another testament to ED's incredible attention to detail.

Bug: Anti-skid permanently activated on starboard side. If not 100%, how often out of 10: 10 How to reproduce/ description: Step1: Switch off anti-skid, turn the aircraft to the right whilst taxiing and apply right brake. Starboard wheel brake will not lock-up. Step2: Do the same with the port side and the wheel brake will lock-up. I believe this is as it should be. DCS Version: 2.9.14.8222 System Specs: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz Installed RAM 64.0 GB Device ID 36C95E96-CEE8-4C82-AF93-9730F33AFFDB Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA169 System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Windows 11 Pro NVDIA GEFORCE RTX 3070 Peripherals: Joystick: Microsoft Sidewinder FFB 2 Throttle: Virpil Controls T-50 CM3 Headtracker: Third-party Track IR I don't feel posting a track, or video is necessary, as it's not unique to me and anybody can reproduce this in about 30 secs. @scommander2If this is confirmed as a bug, perhaps you could be so kind as to add it to the list?

No updates from HB in this week's Patch.

Nothing from Heatblur, or did they fail to give you their patch notes in time?

F14 not authorized / antivirus / false positive
JupiterJoe replied to Semaphore's topic in Bugs and Problems
I had my exclusion set to an old drive (D:), forgetting that I'd since transferred DCS onto a new SSD drive (H:). Please make sure your exclusion has the right drive designation. -

JupiterJoe replied to scommander2's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I concur. @scommander2 Please remove my suggestion from the list. @draconus is right, it was a stupid idea. I'd be happy if we get even half the stuff on the current list. I won't add any more. I apologise for wasting people's time and generally acting a fool on this thread. -

I don't understand the question. When you damage the plane it has to be repaired, no? I think badly over-stressing the airframe and/or landing overweight should be included in that. It's a simple way of adding a time-penalty (currently 170secs) to the player. Obviously you could just respawn, but that's cheating It's this or no consequence at all. Which would you prefer? There is a Logbook, with a rudimentary points system. I'd like to see points deducted, or perhaps even a demotion for sending your aircraft to the scrapyard early, but it's clear I'd be asking too much. -

'Over-stressing the airframe and/or landing overweight may require a repair period.', is all we're looking for. Just read through the list again. It's a fantastic snagging list and I think a very reasonable request to get our beloved F-14 closer to a finished state. Great work compiling it @scommander2 -

JupiterJoe replied to scommander2's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
@Zabuzard Anybody? So, we're saying the actual weight of the F-14A at this point is roughly 39086? That's the 42086 shown below, minus the weight of the weapon rails and fuel pylons (which is what roughly, 3000 lbs)? Just trying to find a semi-accurate baseline. It's necessary in order to stand any chance of calculating a fuel ladder for example. -

Item two I give up on. According to my detractors the penalty received in the Speed & Angels for over-stressing the air-frame is meaningless, even though that campaign was created with the assistance of an actual F-14 pilot trainer. Item three is a no-go because apparently the F-14 isn't worth that level of fidelity and who cares about trap weights anyway? Furthermore I should be happy with what we've got because the F-4 is far more popular dontchaknow, even though it lacks the versatility to do both carrier ops and shore based duty. -
