  1. @BIGNEWY Any chance of an advanced look at the patch notes?
  2. @draconus It seems excessive, because of how stable it is with a symmetrical loadout. You cannot neutralise roll at all. I've even tried putting in a little rudder trim. You must make constant adjustments. If that's just the way it is in real flying then fine, but the guy above said he doesn't experience it and I don't seem to remember this being an issue with a spring-loaded joystick. These issues may be specifically related to (perhaps just my) FFB. Do you have FFB? Perhaps it's connected to the AP switch not disengaging when Roll SAS is off. Clutching at straws, I know. In other news: Altitude Hold loses integrity at exactly 40 degrees wing sweep, anywhere above 15k feet.
  3. Yes @draconus, AP locks the attitude. I'm wondering if this inability to neutralise roll is specific to me (a worn FFB stick perhaps). It feels like Roll SAS isn't working.
  4. Do you use FFB? Every asymmetric layout. Any loadout with a LAINTIRN as an example, but there are many more. The aircraft rolls right/left but is never fully neutralised with trim.
  5. Oh, I didn't realise flight crews only rarely travelled to/from the hangar deck. Watched too may movies, just as you said. Still, would've been nice to have seen the inside of the hangar deck. Oh well. Top Gun (1986): Top Gun: Maverick (2022):
  6. Can't wait 'til the elevators are operational for players and particularly for the F-14. We're getting ever closer. Thank you ED & HB.
  7. I'm for any new F-14 Campaign.
  8. I find FFB really helps to avoid this.
  9. A thing of beauty
  10. Can't believe this thread is not getting more traction, so giving it a bump. Draw distance seems to have been greatly reduced in the last couple of updates. Perhaps this has something to do with the work done on spotting dots etc. Flying away from the boat in my F-14 I am very disappointed to see the carrier group disappear from the surface of the water only 10 miles out. I have my draw distance set to extreme and LOD factor set to 2. In my P-51 my wingman's fuel tanks disappear/reappear whilst floating in/out of combat formation. This all spoils immersion quite considerably. Thank you.
  11. the video below you'll hear the wing-sweep sound effect from an AI F-14, (I recommend you use your headphones). It's subtle above the engine noise, but it's there. This effect is not present on the player's aircraft and I think that's a shame. In real life you may not be able to hear this with your helmet on etc, but you might be able to feel it through the seat of your pants and that's what some sound effects in DCS are meant to represent, the vibration. Anyway, I'd like this effect very subtlety audible from the cockpit (as with DLC), as well on the exterior. The soundscape on the F-14, like the model itself, is a masterpiece. 12. I've just tried it in MP and it worked, so I guess today's huge patch did contain some fixes (sadly the launch-bar abort switch, or the 'step' in the sound of the engines spooling down weren't among them). Apparently HB's patch notes were late. We're still wating for those. EDIT: Correction. I just tried Operation Clay Dagger and the laser code cycling problem still exists. I guess HB didn't release any fixes in this latest patch. Apologies for the false hope.
  13. Well I'll be darned, it does exist. All this time I was typing in autopilot into the search and it doesn't show up there. It's listed as Heading Hold - GT, just as you said. Thank you so much Any idea why Heading Hold would only work intermittently and GT consistently?
  14. Thanks, I noticed that my (F-14) wingman switched on his formation lights as we came into land at dusk. Is this realistic?
  15. Can we have an autopilot ground track toggle please? Heading Hold doesn't work very often with my FFB stick, but GT works every time for some reason.
  16. Oh okay, I have heard the term 'music on/off' used for radar jammer and because it's an IR missile I was confused. Lucky the guy's callsign wasn't Fox Thanks.
  17. What does he mean by "Fox 2 kill from the music"?
  18. When I have an asymmetric loadout, I find I cannot neutralize roll with trim. Is this a bug? Wouldn't Roll SAS dampen this out? It should be noted that I use a M/S Sidewinder FFB2 stick. @IronMike
  19. If you're referring to the Speed & Angels missions, then yes they are cold starts. It's not necessary to play those unless you're trying to specifically test the breaking of the ffb when passing through the wake of the taxiing lead. In order to test the flap of the elevons/tailerons any air start will do. Just switch on Alt Hold and put it in a 20 degree bank. You could also test Heading Hold by putting it in a 1 to 8 degree bank. If it doesn’t level itself (like it's supposed to do) select Ground Track.
  20. Huh? Did you see my above post.
  21. @MAXsenna No I didn't. I even had a look at it again tonight after taking apart the joystick for the second time. I took apart the Y axis potentiometer and took these photos. I cleaned up the pads and contacts and put it all back together. I then loaded a mission in DCS and was disappointed to still see those elevon fluctuations you saw in that video. I even had the Virpil joystick testing software running at the same time and saw no spikes when the elevons would flap. They flap only when the aircraft is in Alt Hold and in a 9+ degree bank. I remain mystified.
  22. I have just found that Heading Hold won't level out the plane, but Ground Track does. Is this the same for you?
  23. Did you ever solve this issue @Gun Jam?
  24. Thanks Maxsenna. I too have taken the stick & base apart, mainly to see if it looked worn inside. It looked brand new, so I am not certain my issues are hardware related (but denial isn't a river in Egypt), but as you say, if no one else is experiencing what I'm experiencing, then I guess it must be a hardware issue. The stick works great with the P-51, but of course that doesn't have autopilot modes. It's frustrating, because autopilot works flawlessly with my non-ffb stick and the Sidewinder works so well when the autopilot isn't engaged. In the controls menu, does your stick show a constant 50% forward input in the Y axis? (see below) Perhaps you could give those early Speed & Angels missions a try and see if you get that jolt (instead of rumble) when you pass through your lead's wake when taxiing. I'd appreciate feedback. Due to those sudden spurious signals in the Y axis, I demonstrated in that video above, I suspect my issues are all stemming from a dodgy potentiometer. I wonder if I can find a new pot online and swap it out
