I don't think the Spitfire is going to do very well against the competition, especially against the Fw-190... an Anton would be more than enough to combat a Spitfire IX, never mind the Dora.
-
YES PLEASE! ...well the model has already been complete I believe they are just working on the flight model. I would like a HD screenshot to set as my desktop background picture :).
-
I'm sure the Fw-190D9 would handle a Griffin no problem. :)
-
The modules you've mentioned have nothing to do with DCS's WWII Europe 1944. Yeah P-38 would be pretty nice to own. Possibly this is on the roadmap for the other developers.

What do you mean by "equal energy"? One would think the Spitfire would be more competitive with 25 lb to have an distinct advantage over all fighters in rate of climb. Also since the Spitfire would be the slowest out of all the fighters including the P-47D-30, ~337mph vs 345mph @ SL. Even with 25 lb boost the Bf-109K4 and Fw-190D9 would still be faster.

Not trying to provoke anything, but thought this was funny. Found this on facebook. "...and the Mustang versus Thunderbolt argument continues."

I have the Key for the F-15C module, but how do I activate it? Thanks
-
Right now I only have 1.5 due to hard drive space. I've bought the Fw-190D9 and I can't install it to my DCS 1.5.1 directory. Is there anyway I can bypass this without having to install DCS 1.2 again? Thanks!

@Crumpp The reality is is that a smart K4 pilot will always come up on top. The advantages of the K4 easily out weigh the instantaneous turn on the P-51. The K4 can exit the fight at anytime with its insane rate of climb and higher top speed. Turn fighting in the P-51 will only lead to your inevitable doom. The moment you start turning and burning a smart K4 pilot will simply just pull into a spiral climb. When a K4 has the altitude advantage your only defense is defensive tactics which will only last until you've run out of altitude. Also the P-51 has no chance in escaping the K4 at any altitude, unfortunately. All of this applies with the Dora too, just not nearly as well as the K4 in the vertical. However the Fw-190 with its light control surfaces can match if not exceed the P-51's high speed maneuverability. Its just that in DCS people enjoy scrambling it out in massive fur balls which makes the P-51 a deadly dogfighter. I only own the P-51, but I've played a couple of sims where I've been in a faster and faster climbing plane, and its extremely easy to end up on top. The real concrete advantages of the P-51 are in the Dive and zoom categories. Here is a video of me exploiting these advantages against an AI K4, but I execute them very poorly. I'd love to try this out against a real player. /watch?v=ZMwpxpyyfjE

The C-23 Turbo used in the P-47D-30

That actually does make sense know that I think about it. The data on the Mustang's engine is probably greatly benefiting Spitfire's development. At latest I hope we see the Spitfire and P-47 in game around the summer of 2016.
-
Yeah, I'm curious why the Spitfire surpassed the P-47 in development.
-
Is the K4's sluggish controls at high speed represented in this game?
-
Any idea on when the P-47D-** was issued the K-14 gun sight? The DCS P-47D-30 doesn't look like its going to have the K-14 gun sight :(.
-
Yeah, the AI spitfire has no textures in the cockpit, makes weird noises and the propeller spins at a very low RPM.
-
Which aircraft are you most interested in?

P-38J-15 would be a nice addition. -
Yes, I should of said the clipped design.

https://archive.org/search.php?query=P-47 The Razorback as an awesome plane. I personally favourite is the P-47N-**. I love the dorsal fin and clipped wings. https://ia902304.us.archive.org/1/items/NIX-EL-2003-00318/EL-2003-00318.jpg

Another picture of the P-47D-30 "The P-47 external currently looks like this. Very long process to get the model to this point because so much of the work cannot be shown with screenshots. The model is fully articulated, and has all the internal parts that are all mapped and animated. There’s also a few sub-variants all in there, with and without the dorsal fin, a couple of different propellers. Only one variant is going to make it into the final game, but it’ll be decided later once the programming begins. Otherwise it’s at least a month of extra work for each of the changes in airframe or the propeller." This was said by the previous team developing WW2 DCS

Awesome share Crumpp! My first time ever seeing these dive recovery flaps deployed! I know they are called dive recovery, I just quoted the site. "Late in 1943, a few hundred dive flap field modification kits were assembled to give North African, European and Pacific P-38s a chance to withstand compressibility and expand their combat tactics. Unfortunately, these crucial flaps did not always reach their destination. In March 1944, 200 dive flap kits intended for European Theater of Operations (ETO) P-38Js were destroyed in a mistaken identification incident in which an RAF fighter shot down the Douglas C-54 Skymaster (mistaking it for an Fw 200) taking the shipment to England. Back in Burbank, P-38Js coming off the assembly line in spring 1944 were towed out to the tarmac and modified in the open air. The flaps were finally incorporated into the production line in June 1944 on the last 210 P-38Js. Despite testing having proved the dive flaps effective in improving tactical maneuvers, a 14-month delay in production limited their implementation, with only the final 50% of all Lightnings built having the dive flaps installed as an assembly-line sequence" Ahhhh, I can't wait any longer for the P-47, I'm going crazy!

What day and time of day can I find the highest population of players on the WW2 servers? I'm getting bored of fighting the AI god who pilots the Bf-109K4.

Everything I can find on the P-47D-30. P-47D-30 "The D-30 saw the largest production run of any version of the Thunderbolt, with 2,600 built between the two Republic factories. The most importance chance was the addition of dive breaks under the wing, designed to slightly slow the speed of the Thunderbolt in the dive in an attempt to reduce the problems caused by the very high speeds achieved." http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_P-47D.html The P-47D-30 was equipped with the C-23 turbo. Which I literally can't find anything about it. How can a P-47D-30 maintain 2600hp all the way up to 29,000ft? The Turbo surely has to spin faster than 22,000rpm. But the high speed at 29,000ft perfects matches the estimated 32,000ft high speed and the ACTUAL lower altitude highspeeds. This is shown in Narushima's modified chart. *EDIT* Obviously, the P-47D-30's C-23 Turbo wouldn't spin any faster than the other models, all it would have to do is spin at its maximum RPM at a lower altitude to maintain 2600hp at 29,000ft. While the P-47D-25's Turbo A-17/A-23 would only have to spin at 22,000rpm at 31,000ft. I'm assuming this P-47D-30 is tested with 150 Grade fuel. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/Comparative_Fighter_Performance.jpg This is Narushima's chart modified. *This purple line is estimated.*

ATM the P-51D top speeds seem to be fine to me. What didn't seem right was the ALT for the Low blower stage, it is too low.
