I belive that the spo10 like the later spo15 will repeat a lock tone for some time after a lock accured to make sure the pilot knows that they have been locked. however I seem to think from my experances it will repeat it for 20 seconds after the lock has been broken. from what I can also tell, it will assume any radar pulse as hostile if it has been locked once in the last 30sec and then will go back to panic mode. but I am not totaly sure about it, that said, unlike the spo15, it does have a 45deg arc to the horizontal compared to the 30 that the spo15 produces.

unlike the fa18, the mig21 can land so long as its under its max landing weight with out problem in any configuration. the purpous of being able to drop the fuel tank was to help it get out of danger faster. the only reason I could think a pilot would drop it when landing is if it has a fire and needs to be landed asap, then it would drop the fuel and missles for safty then land. if the mig21 is flying and is overweight from fuel, it would just hold until it burned off the fuel and then land normaly. that said, in this sim, its up to you what you do, but if you want to be really realistic, then go ahead and burn your fuel off before landing.

it depends on what you are shooting, for a unknown target, the r3r is very nice, its all aspect and can deal with targets that have low or no ir emitions to track. its also all radar aspect. but vs high ecm enriverment or vs very moble aircrafts, it may not be the best choice. vs known bombers, the r55 packs the best punch, but weights the most and is only avible on the inner pylons. the rus2's are also very good vs bombers including ones that dont produce emitions (f117) vs fighters, the r60's are the best, ether verson, if those are not avible, the r3s for me can be shot in most cases even under manovering, but the seakers are kinda weak, however vs most fighters, they will run at mill or full afterbuner and as such will proved pleanty of heat. as far as radar guided a2a missles, the r3r is the best for being lightweight and mobile, however the rus2 is better vs larger targets (kinda like a aerial torpedo) that said, once I hit a mig15 head on with it, did nothing. so it might be kinda buggy. for ir basied missles, the r3s or the r60's are the best anti fighter missles for the fact they can actually manover well. but they lack punch, the r55 and r13s are larger and pack more punch, however they dont manover as well and weight more. r60's however can be carried in a double mount which kinda makes up for its lack of punch. all of these missles have about the same range of likly kill. which is about 4km or less vs a fighter. however the r13 and r55 have a better max range of hit which is about 5-6 km vs a large target such as a bomber or transport, max actual traval range for any missle (r55) is about 11km, for reffrence, the spo22 dlz shows the 6km max launch range as the empty space between the lines. min safe launch range is 500 meters for any a2a missle, as you are likly to catch the flak cloud of the missle and the wreackage from the hit, in missle mode, the radar should give you the breakoff light at 600 meters. when set to guns, it will do so at 200 meters. (have not fully tested it yet though) anyway, I hope that helps.

while I am not the guy your respond to, I would think that the effects densely forested areas would be obvious. first, limited or fully obstructed los on targets for both radar and opitical systems. two, missles and rockets would have a very poor if it does exist flight path while retaining good accuracy and effect. also many rockets and missles detonate on impact so you might not even be able to shoot through them. that said, most autocannons firing ap round should not have a problem if you know where the target is. but that really is a big if.

the problem with steam is that you can only use steam for the base game and steam bought mods, which for me and other people who buy from the ed store is not acceptal. also it takes longer to patch and there are a number of soruces, even a video from totalbiscut the other day or two where they had an indy dev state that number. also there are some glitches in the steam verson as well which are really annoying and reduce stability. ether way, if your trying to support leather neck, remember that your ether paying ed and leatherneck, or your paying steam ed and leatherneck, so its very obivous which one is going to give the most to leatherneck.
-
there have been developers who have stated that the most fair for dev cut that steam takes is 25% also, both myself and all of my friends have had problems installing any extra aircrafts to the steam verson, over all the best expearnace I have gotten with dcs has been with the standalone, and besides, if someone really wants to support letherneck, why would you buy it in a place where they get less money. anyway, I am just saying, steam is great for many things, but not everything.

I belive that it was likly not one of the main priortys in makeing the mig, however I do think that functualy it should work, but the auto lock dection mode is broken, or has fulty dectection codeing. but when using it manualy, it should produce the required effect, also while the spo10 is not the most amazing thing ever, it should at least provide enough to give you and idea of when your going to need the ecm turned on. going to take some pratice thought, but it would be fun to have ecm flights mixed in to your main combat cloud of fighters.

no problem, just trying to be helpful

I think the problem is from my testing is that the deflection of thrust is not added to the vv, as such, the aircraft flys with out turning because the aircraft still thinks its level. maybe some of the restoring forces are also not acting on the aircraft which would also help it turn in a level rudder turn like this. but I dont know too much about the math behind it.

from my experance and my friends experance, the steam verson is terible. and that its better to use the non steam verson to play, update and activate. so I would recomend to do that instead of buying it on steam, also while I am not sure if there is a ed ln proffit split, or how much if there is, I also know that steam will take about 25% of the income off the top so it would be better to buy from the ed shop if you do want to support leatherneck.

there might be a way to open each mission in the campain in the mission editor and then resave them in a diffrent folder, these missions wont be chained in the campain. so you can play them on your own time. but I have not tried this so dont know if it will even work. but I do think that its one of your best chances of it if it will work.

Heavy clouds & fog can stop the "RSBN/PRMG" signal ?
kanami314 replied to Skulleader's topic in MiG-21Bis
to answer the op, altitude and terrain are the largest factor in rsbn and arc range. basically if you descend below 2km you will have a less effective ability to acquire and maintain rsbn lock. also, if your in the Russian federation, dont expect to easily squire any rsbn from Georgina states, because of the mountains. ether way, read the manual and it will clarify the exact ranges per altitude. -
it will detect when the radios start to pick up interference with mountains and hills.`

I know exactly what he is talking about. cloud pen mode. this mode is inteneded to help you decend to your target rsbn station and with in 20km be at 600m. however it will also not allow you to run into terrain features. in this mode, the adi will show a yellow bar that is set from the left side of it, this bar is the decent rate bar, and you will be trying to hold it in the center of the adi to keep your rate of decent at the safe speed. the adi will not show the flight director bar (the yellow bar that comes from the bottom) or any localizes (the bubbles on the top and left side) however the hsi will be able to show you the horizontal localizer in the ils display and will still show you both needles so that your able to navigate to your destination. however its intended for you to take a direct to path to your rsbn station and then once you get to your pattern altitude, navigate to the start of your pattern. as an example, your 80km away from home base, at 15km alt, you switch to cloud pen mode (proceed) and trim your aircraft so you maintain 700kph air speed and the decent rate suggested by the adi, when it guides you to 600m alt or you get with in 20km, switch to nav and turn to line up on approach according to your hsi and if you want, then switch to pmng mode. thats how its intended to be used.

well the apu seems to actualy be a jsu, kinda like the f16 and the ground power mostly seems to be for testing elements with out the engine, like the nose cone extention. also the aircraft is fully able to start on battery power. also you might use gpu to turn on most of the subsystems and radios while the engine is running up. ether way, the aircraft is easy enough to work on the ground.

I assume your asking if the mig21 can do mid air refueling, as far as what the manual says for this one, it does not include and switches for the probes, and does not cover it as a topic so as far as I am aware, this version can not. however I believe that newer versions might have been upgraded to be able to do so. but not sure about it.

one thing to note is the radar only aims down 1.5deg, so its very easy to run into problems where your nose is too high, especially after turning into targets remember to let the nose sink before rolling out, that should improve your lock on rate. at least thats the one thing that helped me the most. hope it helps.
