Request - put EA modules into stabile version too
jasonbirder replied to dali's topic in DCS Core Wish List
You've stated in your post what I (and most people) would assume to be the case "When an aircraft is complete, all features introduced on OB will have been moved over to stable" Its a pretty straightforward question (which is why I'm surprised its so hard to get a straightforward yes/no answer) when the F/A18C module is out of early access (Which WILL be by December 31st 2020 as stated by Wags) will all features introduced be moved over onto stable? Can someone from ED not just clarify that - does it moving out of Early Release mean that the Aircraft and all its features will be available on stable? Yes/No? -

I'm thinking of the F/A18C module...we've been assured that it will be out of early access by December 31st. I was just trying to find out if that means the stated functionality (AG radar modes, ECM pod, SLAM etc) will be completed and released by that date...or if it will still be under development/testing at that point with a release for 2021? -

Thanks for taking the time to answer - much appreciated. I'm really surprised to hear that ED will call a module finished and out of early access...If its functionality isn't finalised, confirmed and completed and only available to testers... But at least we know! Thank you. -

Does that mean that when they're moved out of early access they (and all their associated functionality) will be moved onto the stable version? As I said earlier - apologies in advance if that'a already been answered. -

I'll just be happy if ED confirms that when modules move out of Early Release - they'll be on the stable version not the open beta version...i'm not sure if we ever had confirmation on that... (Apologies to Community Reps if we have and I missed it - do we have a link to a thread or post confirming it?) -
Out of interest...YOU YOURSELF posted THIS earlier in the thread "ED.........You need to define exactly what early access means? So, when you take a plane off of EA. What can someone expect when they buy it at that point? We understand what EA means when we buy a plane on EA. What does it mean when you take it off EA? Be specific" BuzzU How on earth does it differ from what I posted???

56 pages of discussion on when the Hornet is coming out of early access...the majority being complaints about lack of core functionality completed at that deadline date (IE the ATFLIR), complaints about their definition of "feature complete" or (reasonable) concerns about ED's commitment to ongoing development of the F/A18C beyond 2020 etc etc and my post asking for clarification about what "Out of Early Release" means is the one that really boils your p*sss...sheesh!
-
IF the ONLY intelligent answer is "wait and see" why have ED released a very specific timetabled roadmap outlining a date for completion of many of the F/A18C Hornet features? Their communications weren't "wait and see" or "in its own good time" it was a specific listing of features and dates...laid out as an official communication from the company... To ask for clarification on whether "out of early access" means there will be a stable release version available at that point or whether it is purposely ambiguous wording actually meaning ongoing testing of the functionality, with the hope of releasing it in 2021, seems a very REASONABLE question... I'd have never asked "will it actually be out of early access or will it still be in test on Dec 31st 2020" If ED themselves hadn't come out THEMSELVES out and said - "it'll be out of Early Access on 31st Dec 2020" in the first place... I'm just checking whether they actually mean it - or its a bit of verbal ambiguity to appease the people who have bought the F/A18C Hornet Module... Asking for clarification on the "Hornet Roadmap" seems eminantly sensible in the "Hornet Roadmap Discussion" thread....

Is the F-5 and F/A-18 Red Flag BFM Campain ny good?
jasonbirder replied to CommandT's topic in User Created Missions General
Apologies if I'm teaching my grandmother to suck eggs...but have you had a look through the user missions to download? Here are the F5E Tiger Single Missions... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/index.php?set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=1&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=393&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter They're of varying completeness and quality - as you'd expect, some are really good... -

jasonbirder replied to CommandT's topic in User Created Missions General
I've got the F5E campaign and its decent enough that I'd reccomend it...as has been pointed out its dog fighting practice missions against a succession of different opponents. There are a few frustrations relating to the AI and its Flight Model and it can be seen as a little repetative...but its good, well presented and populated single player content with good documentation for not alot of $s...I thought it was alot of fun (even though I have never made it to the end) -
Key question for ED....if the F/A18C Hornet is timetabled to be out of early access by the end of Dec 2020 (whatever the rights and wrongs of core functionality being unavailable at that time) Do they mean the Features laid out in the Roadmap for 2020 will be released...or will they still be "in testing" And if the features are still "in testing" how can ED justify calling it out of early access and into release status?
-
Thats great! I know there's already a release date for the Supercarrier module (end of May 2020) and there's a roadmap outlining the Content that will be added to the Hornet by Dec 2020 They're both significant releases with a tremendous amount of new work to be done...if you're comfortable giving the community release timetables for those...then surely we could have an estimated release date for the next stable update?
-
Why? Is there any technical reason ED can't add in 3rd party content to a stable update? The argument "its impossible to do stand alone stable updates not based on an OB version" flew out the door with 2.5.5.41371.1 - it was only a small update...but if thats possible - why not a small update to add in 3rd party content? ED CHOOSES not to work on a seperate update to 2.5.5 as it hopes if it just ploughs on it'll eventually get 2.5.6 working and roll that out to stable...but the serious question is...how long is that a sustainable argument....so you think 6 months without an update to content people have paid for (you may have the JF-17 and not able to use it, you may have the Hornet and be missing an absolute roll-call of features that have been added etc etc) is OK - what about 9 months, a year? All stable users want is a simple answer to the question...what is the Latest possible date they can expect to have access to these things (they have bought) will it be Q3 2020? Will it be Q4 2020 will it be 2021?
-
Its because MP is a fairly small proportion of the DCS community - which is overwhelmingly SP
-
Just ED's own figures direct from Kate that show there are TWICE as many on Stable (and consequently twice the revenue) as there are on Open Beta...is that good enough for you? >60% Stable, 30% OB, <10% legacy versions Jesus...there's a bigger difference between the number of Stable Users and Open Beta Users than there is between Open Beta users and those still on 1.5 FFS! Perhaps not "dribble" eh, but apologies - I understand how sensitive you OB users can be about your importance/significance
-
Not for the vast majority of users...besides, don't you think users on stable - say for example those with no JF-17 or those with very limited Hornet TPOD functionality, those with few of the Razbam Mirage 2000c updates etc etc deserve the odd update occasionally - or is annual enough for those scrubs (you know the ones that pay the majority of ED's bills)
-
There hasn't been an update released since December last year!!!!! How much slower do you want?!?
-
No TGP and no GPS...and they won't use the AG Radar - wow what are they using...Mark One eyeball... Don't quote 3rd party assets for long range missions vs peer level adversaries...they're surely not niave enough to rely on drones and HVAs for targetting...are they?
-
That's no justification for selling a completed F/A18 module at price $x.xx (depending on when you paid) and then coming back and saying actually we might not deliver that at all...we'll deliver a % of those features and after that we'll see how it goes... I have ZERO interest in playing a partly completed F/A18C module...indeed while I've purchased it...I haven't even opened it up...it sits awaiting completion...I fly the A10, the F5 and I fly Falcon 4 BMS...If they're ever finished I'll crack on with the Mirage, the Harrier and the Hornet...If I had known they were never going to be finished (as looks likely with the Harrier module and increasingly so with the Hornet) I'd never have purchased them... I can't be the only one who feels the same way...

"we are still planning for May sometime as long as testing goes to plan" That hardly sounds like announcing a release date for the end of may...and more like an expression of wish...but hey! Its probably just my personal ignorance talking...
-
I guess it probably because there's thousands of people that paid $x.xx for a Product (the F/A18C) when they were told it was going to include all these features...and their COO came and annoumced it wasn't... It'd be like me having paid my deposit on my new car and while waiting for delivery have Audi come back an announce...its their Policy not to include Brakes in the car in future...
-
People paid for it when it was a projected product with an estimated release date. No-one minds it being delayed...but to go from "it'll be released on April 15th" to "we don't know when it will be relased" is a massive step. If there was an approximate ETA I think everyone would be happy - as it is now, many have paid...but have no idea when they'll be able to realise that investment.
-
They don't train for bad weather and/or degraded GPS environments? Seems odd to me...but what do I know!

The "unified" version DCS 2.5 has been extant since Feb 2018 (IE: 27 months) so this is a situation that has stretched (since Dec 2019) for something like 20% of its lifetime! It's hardly "that unusual" is it? It may be "official" but its a version that is currently unsupported isn't it? Now, that's a situation that may change if DCS iron out bugs in 2.5.6 BUT until (if) that happens the "release" version 2.5.5 is one that doesn't contain all the content some people paid for, doesn't contain a significant amount of 3rd party content to modules(as ED won't release it to the stable community) and contains multiple bugs/broken issues that ED has no intention of addressing within the 2.5.5 build.

Well I never! For whatever reason that seems to work! I was able to contact Hammer with Voice Attack/Viacom disabled! Thanks
