  1. It is aileron booster switch, in front of the throttle lever and rato/flare drop switch. Push it forward, otherwise you would need rambo arms to wrestle and pump the ailerons just a tiny bit... I remember that during v1.2 of DCS, the switch was automatically ON but is no longer the case.
  2. I see the Draken... because I really want to see just that! :D
  3. I've flown 1.5.3 only a tad, but haven't noticed any huge fps drop so far, just a tiny bit more stutter when flying low over larger towns. Certain spots/views tank the fps just like 1.5.2 did, e.g. spawning at Batumi ramp (The first default spot the editor gives) and looking from the cockpit northward between the airport terminal and some buildings into the trees causes drops and stutters for me. Despite I always push that alt+enter at the start of the game once for true fullscreen. Became a habit by now...
  4. Yes, but very small. You can try what it does by having the gunsight in gyro mode, put in smallest wingspan (10) & longest distance to the target, so you will end up with the smallest & wildest reticle. Bind the altitude correction on 2 keys for easy adjusting during the testflight. Flying level you won't see almost any difference on the reticle. But during the turns when the reticle is close to the edge of the gunsight, there is a noticeable difference between the extreme values. However on the distance which you usually would open fire at, it makes very little difference... but setting it right before your preflight check won't hurt nor slow you down much, so why not to... At least that is my own observation. Not sure if anything was mentioned in the manual since the beta. However I find it overall a very nice detail!
  5. That's how it should work imo. Can't dismount the gunsight without dismounting the cannon (or strictly speaking your technician crew most likely can do it, but it defeats the purpose of having the cannon / using the ZA version in general then). Anyway I'm yet to see single operational ZA without gunsight, but have seen a lot of Cs without it (mostly civilian/private owned though).
  6. Release version should update later this friday if all goes well that is, according to the guys from Leatherneck at least. I wonder if it comes with the updated manual. I would definitely read it while waiting patiently for the standard release! :book:
  7. Hey! I do have originally a htpc system with A10 7850k since it was released almost 2 years ago, coupled with ssd, ddr3 2666mhz ram, which I had to downclock to 2400mhz, as the MB couldn't take without a lot of overvolting, which I wanted to avoid. Apu performs better with faster ram, however ddr3 is a huge bottleneck in current generation, but that was the only option for me back then. The issue is, that whenever you exceed the TDP of your apu, normally it will throttle down the cpu cores, usually to 3ghz - which might be an issue with cpu-heavy apps. Also it will cause a stutter, more or less depending on the game. You can bypass this throttling by tampering with power-states, if you have good cooling for your MB's vrm and apu itself naturally - I have it watercooled at constant 4ghz cpu cores (with hard limit around 4.36ghz) and up to 900mhz igpu cores. I've played 1.2 DCS on it quite a lot to my own surprise, but it was on old 720p screen though and no AA. High textures, high distance, medium water, low shadows and I usually got ~35fps with mig21 from cockpit, in SP missions/training etc. 1.5 DCS introduced smoother frames in some cases (like shooting salvo of S5 rockets, or bursts from huey's minigun, or shooting all mgs at once from dora), but more stutter when I flew close to the ground above the city and forested scenery. However when you are up high, frames are much better in 1.5 than in 1.2. I wouldn't buy A10 7850k apu now, because it is old for 2016 on the igpu side (think stock r7 250). There will be a new lineup in 2016 on the same shared socket (if we are talking AMD both apus and dedicated cpus), that means new chipsets, ddr4, etc and new gpu lineup. I still believe that fast cpu + dedicated gpu is the way to go for DCS at least, since it utilizes 2 cores at most, while more and more mainstream games will be fully playable on APUs very shortly, even on higher graphic settings. But we are still not there quite yet... Also note that benchmarks can be skewed a lot, depending on clocks and especially the ram performance. Plus you will need more of it, since igpu reserves up to 2gb of your ram - you can set the value in your bios. Hope it helps!
  8. I'm pretty surprised to see full blown 4th gen euro-jet module for DCS without too much guesswork in the first place! Kudos to the team. Asking for planes which are currently being used in the military without relying mostly on WAGuess® is pretty long shot even using older FC3 standards.
  9. Actually I understood the point of this thread being that the F 104 can turn better than expected! :megalol: Seeing as it is one of 2 or 3 jets I would be interested in from 'Murica, I would not object to have the widowmaker in DCS at all. One can't get much purer than F 104 in my eyes.
  10. It looks almost 11 months old, so it might have some compatibility issues even in 1.2 build, let alone 1.5/2.0. Just my two cents though!
  11. I still think that ingame LG durability is quite forgiving, since you can land with much greater weight or fuel reserve, than normally allowed without any issues (unless you really botch it badly). Most roads work as well, just be more careful and/or burn some more fat before the final :D
  12. Just a heads up: the module is still very sensitive regarding updates / changes of any kind, hardware-wise. I've updated bios and had to reactivate Mig21 module again yesterday. Then I've realized that I haven't disabled the onboard gpu as to clear 1-2gb of shared ram, so it ate another activation (at this point, deactivation didn't work anymore) but plane was not available ingame to fly. Relaunched the game and it asked for another activation, which was again successful but same result ingame - no cockpit/control. Had to use the regfix again, like earlier when the protection system has been updated. I'm only using one branch and one installation of dcs 1.5 on the machine, so nothing else should collide with it. Luckily there are still enough activations to spare for me, at least for now. Anyway, merry Christmas guys! :prop:
  13. Guys you are talking like as if it was ever a good idea to use any Windows when security is your main concern! :megalol: I have only 2 XP machines left, but I haven't tried to play DCS on them, as I believe even the last batch of v1.2.xy of DCS required some graphic calls and instructions available from Vista onwards. Maybe the older versions works however... might not hurt to give it a try to see how it goes.
  14. Is it really that bad for you? Let's bring up the issues and repeat them every once in a while all over the forum. Maybe that will speed things up a bit ... or at least add a bit of pressure ... it simply has to achieve something! :puke: I would love to have the improvements asap, but I don't demand them. Heck even I can realize that LNS has to be crunching for quite a while now. However If you can't take it anymore, just try to look forward to something else for now, Santa or something!
  15. Humm, 'Tis but a scratch! Well at least the refueling pipe looks A-okay :P
  16. Because Mirage is built to last! :D
  17. Try going into the gameplay options and tick "Hide control stick", then deselect it if you want to have it shown in the cockpit as usual. Might as well work with stray polygons in the cockpit.
  18. Might be related to the new "Hide control stick" gameplay option. Try to fiddle with it to see if it makes any difference. I don't have those random polygons, so can't test it myself.
  19. From the manual: The engine oxygen supply system will permit five attempts at engine relight, provided the AIR RELIGHT circuit breaker is kept closed for not more than 30 s. However from what I understand, if you flameout by exceeding max. allowed IAS or a high altitude flameout occurs, you will be only allowed one relight for some reason. My understanding is that it models overstressing of the engine at least in the former case, but again it is just my interpretation.
  20. Do you even ground-attack bro? :D Seriously though, until we know what exactly comes with the map, especially which AI units, it is premature to say things like there is no real point. Even if it was a standalone plane, like Mustang, Dora and 109 - the point would be that we are able to fly the legend and that should suffice alone. I personally wouldn't be surprised if the Corsair+small map&AI units provided more authentic and full experience (albeit on smaller scale) than anything WW2 related in DCS so far. However if you are mainly after MP airquake, I can see your point.
  21. Yes I thought as well that the unique propulsion plane would be multi prop and P-38J or L was the one I wished for the most. One day it has to be the thing in DCS...and I swear that I'll fly around places in her for month without firing a bullet too! But in the end the unique propulsion turned out to be the Viggen with its thrust reverser :P Not surprised, it was expected since the hints led that way for quite a while and I'm looking forward to it. Corsair is amazing though as well, isn't it? If it is indeed the -1version, then hopefully the D variant, so we can bombard and strafe to our hearts content! :pilotfly:
  22. Well Draken is the best looking jet ever built, at least for me. I was hoping to the very last moment that it would turn out to be the Draken... Anyway, Viggen on the other hand is so weird and borderline ugly that it is becoming quite pretty, if you recognize that sensation :P However all is forgiven, because it is the attack variant. My only hope is that the map will feature those awesome road bases and other details based on the defence doctrine. Can't wait to find out...
  23. You guys seem surprised! That's great to see really, because quite a lot of users said that they felt the surprise/reveal was spoiled for them by the steam database leak coming out of nowhere. So all is well in the end! I only wonder whether the map will come along with Corsair as some kind of pre-order incentive, standard feature or will be available as standalone. Can't wait to read all the details about these modules and also to what detail (and expected performance) will the map be modelled compared to what we already have in DCS. At the very least there is not that much speculation left, it was already killing me...
  24. That is your opinion... I'm very happy that we are getting some euro planes now (especially the attack version of Viggen which is even better option and will be refreshing for the whole sandbox imo, since Su25 is ssm only and I just don't want to fly the A10 personally - too modern!). Also if seeing action by your standards would mean the Cold war going hot... well thanks, but I rather take it this way! :smilewink:
  25. Glad it is Corsair in the end! Slightly bummed that we are not getting F4U-4 (at least not now), as that was the version I wished for the most. I don't really care how much it is outclassed versus other props, I personally want it mainly for the career ops and ground attack (and again the -4 would fit that role much better too imo).
