I want to visit Las Vegas! Thanks for the chance and giveaway, highly appreciated!

Aye that video is epic, especially past the 1:37 mark :megalol: History in the making material for future generations no doubt, since we have less and less WW2 veterans each day... Speaking of which I would love to see the remaining parts of Revisiting the Dora with Erich! That would make an excellent Christmas present, if I may say so myself.

Regarding the EZ42 gunsight, you are right...once you figure it out, I guess it's great when it suddenly clicks together and works consistently. I just struggled quite a lot with it, compared to the fixed version at least or the standard Revi, no matter how much I fine-tuned the wingspan, distance or altitude compensator. Reason might be not very precise axis assigned or it might be just me being used to the fixed net / iron sights as opposed to predictor... Old habits die hard! ;) Speaking of habits, I've picked quite a few bad ones on the jets it seems...at least I'm slightly struggling now after 8 months without Dora. The excellent-skilled AI FM pulls some crazy feats, but yeah as you said earlier: lag pursuit, aileron rolls, barrel rolls, yo-yos, scissors... all helps to keep the angry AI pony on the leash. I just can't yet decide the encounter fast enough. Need more practice I reckon, to get the feel for Dora back. Snaprolls I always considered as one of the last possibilities in the encounter too, not your everyday manoeuvre for sure, though some planes power through them bravely ... However I think that the original designers of these wonderful airframes would be blown away if they only knew what we do with the digital versions here :joystick:

I can't help it, but each time I see something like this, it always reminds me of the "Ich ramme" from the WW2... although perhaps not very common occurrence, it was scary stuff for sure. Balls of steel required!

I saw F-104 on the European fixed wing wishlist, it surprised me a bit. If it was on the American wishlist instead, I would have something to vote for, because everything else is too modern for me there. So not a bad choice imo, despite I don't know that much about G version and I would love more those Saabs or earlier Mirages, definitely wouldn't condemn you for mentioning the Starfighter ;) I have a hunch, you know, that it will be something unconventional... So anyone mentioned the glider on steroids, the greatest easter-poweregg Me-163 Komet already?

MIG-21 effectively the most destructive A2G aircraft?
Spectrum Legacy replied to Deathbane's topic in MiG-21Bis
I like the 2x Grom + 2x S-24 loadout if I can make two passes, the situation is more relaxed and there is enough time to play with Groms... or just full S-24 for hopefully just single pass... Since you can smash it supersonic even low at deck with those, air defences sometimes have hard time to react and keep up with you. Express delivery here, I kid you not! :D Atomic bombs are not available on quite many servers and reason is that there are some bugs and quirks associated with them. On a side note, I would love to have the full-blown PFM/ASM early Su-25 DCS module... -
Glad it's ok now, enjoy the dart! As a heads up though, try to avoid switching back and forth between the 1.2.xx and 1.5.x versions, as that would eat through activations, since they are using different version of protection system. Current 1.5.1 has the new version, which should be used in the upcoming 2.0 too, as I understand it, so no reactivations should be required from now on.

Thanks for the insight Crumpp, always a pleasure to read! It's refreshing, because I always got frowned upon when I defended manoeuvre like e.g. snap-roll in the past decade in different flight simulators, as the vocal minority called it a fancy gimmick at best. After a while I've realized that they frown the most simply when they don't want to get out of their rails, or simply when they can't keep up :D Aside from that, most of the good advice was already mentioned in this thread. I can only add that I had more success in the Dora when fixing the gunsight, than with using the gyro (but your mileage might vary). Also I don't bother to waste cannon ammo at long/medium ranges and high deflections, opting for mg-only instead until I get close to add a short burst of cannon fire (although Dora has plenty of ammo, so you don't really have to skimp as much as with any 109 version really).

Since you ran the game cache integrity check on steam, then next thing you should do is to run the reg file which removes all previous activations on your machine...here is the post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2267911&postcount=1 After running it, reboot your OS and try to active the module with pcnsl.exe located in .../DCSWorld/Mods/aircraft/MiG-21BIS/bin Hopefully it will work and you can fly it after that.

In the Dora, whether I have canopy open or closed doesn't really matter at such high altitude...it makes little to no difference. I either get hypoxia or not, solely depending on the oxygen valve being closed or open respectively. Just double check that oxygen gauge and blinker to make sure. Unfortunately I don't have the 109 yet, so I can't test it.
-
Oxygen valve works for me. Can't really comment on how fast the hypoxia occurs compared to the earlier versions, but I've shut the valve off at around 6km of altitude and had double vision at the time when I've almost reached 8km. At 12km altitude, it took mere 10 seconds after shutting the valve off to see double lines on the gunsight and the world started to appear rather grim very fast! Hope it helps at least somewhat.

If one module has to be a jet, I would love some European hardware for a change this time of year (3rd gen ideally). Saab always represented beauty and the beast for me... Draken being the beauty here naturally. However beast Viggen would do as well... I swear the first thing I would try to learn would be parking on reverser like a baws! :D

Actually the most obstructive is not the gunsight itself, but guncam and its mounting bracket. Both C and ZA versions were often used for photo shooting and it is only right that it is present in the cockpit. However I would like to have the guncam optional as well, either set in mission editor, or maybe good enough solution like Mig21 module has (toggle on/off switch or keypress at least, just like show/hide pilot in the cockpit), if possible. Depends what the team finds more realistic / accurate to the real operation.

After not flying Dora for a while and giving it a spin after the last update, I've noticed that one radiator flap on the right side, third from top (in front of the exhaust) doesn't open. I've checked your video Bucic and it same for you as well. I see some pictures with the same flap remaining static on the real thing, so it might be a feature which I never noticed before :D Amazing detail, as always... Edit2: My understanding would be that it is so to limit the warm air from the radiator entering the engine intake nozzle! On the side note, I remember when the radiator knob/system changed a while ago to the current way of operation, but the manual and training doesn't reflect the change I think. I'll have to double check the current version, but if it is so, that might be causing the confusion regarding the radiator flaps... I'm trying not to touch the knob as well if I can help it.
-
Do you mean the TDC range "brackets" on the radar screen are static? It works for me just like before with O and L keys on keyboard, however the movement feels much smoother than before, which is a good thing imo. Also I can see it in the options like this: They are static only when selecting filters against jamming just like before...will test some more though, to make sure!

Which variant would you like to see? I would vouch for the F4U-4 I guess, or the previous D version. ...and the Lightning (with props! seriously guys, it's good - even Milo approved)! :pilotfly:

It is possible now to deactivate the module, just like the ED ones (it stated that I have 4 deactivations left, so the total is 5). It says that we should reactivate just to make sure the bug is out of the system, by following those mentioned steps . Before updating to the latest hotfix, deactivate the Mig21 module first, run the key-deleter reg file, restart your OS, then update the game and reactivate the module. That's my take on it at least.

Summary of my failed attempts to get into the game
Spectrum Legacy replied to Kenan's topic in Game Crash
I had no idea there are / were issues with 3xx R9s until today's update log. I've ordered 380X just yesterday, so I had a tiny heart attack because of that mention :D Thanks for figuring it out! Hopefully AMD will follow and tune their drivers chop-chop... -
Aye there are many Lightnings... Great happines would ensue if it turned out to be the P-38 Lightning (preferably late J or L version) in the end. :D

Since the campaign is purely fictional and I consider it as a bonus to the outright great module/plane, the premise is simple: You don't like it, you don't play it. I myself prefer historical/realistic scenarios too, and to be honest I'm yet to play the campaign itself, while the Fishbed was day1 purchase for me and actually it is the reason I joined DCS. Only speaking for myself here (no "We", no "Us" etc), the level of detail/fidelity/accuracy of the plane itself is what matters the most, along with good detailed manual included even in the beta, with training missions highly appreciated. Everything else is just icing on the cake, be they single player missions or campaign itself. I take it as a standalone product worth my while to learn it properly. There is also the mission editor / community content available, manual described how to set EWR scenario, so just because the campaign's premise is not to my linking, it doesn't detract from the modules quality imo. I'm pretty confident that we will see Mig-23 or even perhaps the 27 one day by LNS (one does not simply have enough of them Migs!), be it sooner or later, as the former shares a lot with the Fishbed and it was hinted in the past that 23 might be reserved for LNS because of that. We will see, but I have confidence in LNS to deliver top notch modules for us to enjoy as the standard is already pretty high...

I think that I see Polish scheme on the 17th Mig far in the distance on the pic Rudel posted. Either it has a huge bort number or some sort of noseart. Hard to see discern them tiny pixels. I wish that one of the other silver ones (16th and 18th) belong to Czechoslovakia! :smilewink:

Only thing I can think of is either having the reticle in gyro mode (while you want to have it in Missile "CC" mode instead - that is mandatory for IR missiles iirc), or you have low/muted seeker tone which can be hard to hear when you are smashing it supersonic, or the pylons are not powered, or the missiles are not heated up properly. Gun/launch switch in launch position naturally, but that is required for SAR missiles too. Other than that, try different IR missiles to see if you notice any difference and get the lock tone buzzing. Maybe also the realistic IR reticle behaviour in the options special tab might be of some significance to this, I have it selected on and it works fine. Hope it helps.

I remember that Mig21 was marketed as featuring the professional flight model last year since the pre-purchase. But then the change happened in the structure and I guess LNS had to change the term simply to EFM, since they are 3rd party after all. Fancy words that EFM, as it can be of varying fidelity between modules/developers really, but also it can be as advanced as PFM (or perhaps even more so, depending solely on the developer and data availability - that's why I like older birds though, less guesswork, more facts). Btw to this day I trust LNS's Mig21 EFM with my life! :)

I have the activation required window popping up once in a while for mig21 alone without any hardware change. I just close the window, then dcs itself, restart the machine and the issue is usually gone the next time I launch it. The starforce check at launch is rather finicky with this module it seems. Wasted only one activation so far, when I've updated bios (it updated and renamed my cpuid). Edit: My "usual method" doesn't work for the v1.5.1 activation issue though.
