  1. Afaik, carrier and shore landing ops with naval aircraft are flown as closely together as possible to make sure the skills needed stay honed and don't decay. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but generally if it's done a certain way during a carrier approach process it'll also be done that way for the shore approach process, minus the hook.
  2. I'm really glad to hear this, Thank you. I'm going back to the basics and trying to relearn everything from the ground up. I'm hoping the influx in tutorials as time progresses will help also.
  3. I've noticed DCS will always black-screen after a load since the last update. Although the black screen only stays for about 4-8 seconds before DCS continues to load up normally. I've heard multiple reports of this happening to other users since the update.
  4. It's also worth noting iirc the horizon line on the hud is not the actual horizon it's depressed 5-degrees. Getting lined up all cozy with that line during level flight will cause you to descend.
  5. Maybe I'll try binding it to a button or just go back to the very basics. To be honest, I'm 100% sure rudder plays a huge part in flying the Tomcat, but I've yet to even once be in a position where I think "Rudder would help.". In basic flying I've yet to see a need to ever touch the rudder, I guess this is really incorrect? Is rudder something that's strongly used outside of ACM? Thanks.
  6. I understand trim pedals are ideal but the aircraft shouldn't be unflyable with a twist stick. Imprecise? Sure. Unusable though? That would suck.
  7. Thanks I'll give it some time. It's just rough, it seems like most people, yourself included have picked it up fairly easily, or can at least do the basics.
  8. I love the F-14 and I'm certainly no stranger to DCS or flight simulation in general. I've flown many modules and high fidelity add-on aircraft throughout the years and nothing has given me as much trouble as this. I've been doing nothing but fighting with the aircraft when it comes to controlling it, maintaining speed, altitude, etc Maybe it's an over-reliance on modern HUDs or poor airman-ship in general but there are some very basic things I'm struggling with and just can't seem to wrap my head around despite hours of practice. I've watched a ton of videos but these are mostly on how to interpret the systems and procedures "Make sure you're at 800 feet by X" and not really "Here's the proper way to descend in a turn and maintain 800 feet". -Getting the aircraft level is a pain, or even just descending and ascending, I'll be going down at a decent vert-speed, touch the throttle a little bit and now oh look I'm descending faster, or even climbing, or anything but what I want to do. -The same issue for maintaining a speed, this is a little bit better but coupled with the altitude issue it's just extremely hard because if I touch my speed or even breath too hard the aircraft is going to do something I don't want it to do. -The on-speed AOA is really confusing, maybe I'm looking at it too much from a hornet perspective, but I can't find any resources that explain it. "It says I'm slow so I'll speed up, annnd not I'm at +30 degrees." I'm really doing my best to hang in there and doing everything I can to teach myself, but not being able to accomplish basic tasks such as holding an attitude and speed, climbing or descending and maintaining an altitude is really discouraging, much less doing these things in a turn or such. I have no idea what I'm doing so wrong but I'm fighting on the edge of just not being able to control the aircraft sometimes. I can always get it to do generally what I want, climb, descend, increase speed or decrease speed etc, but doing any of this with accuracy is absolutely destroying me, especially with a pretty lengthy flight-sim background.
  9. Do you happen to know the nozzle position and RPM % for mil power? I'll listen out for clicks but an instrument value would be awesome as the Kityy is a really audible aircraft as it stands it'll be easy to miss.
  10. I'm sure this is straightforward but I was curious, what's the best instrument to watch when setting mil power without going into AB? I'm assuming the RPM gauge, I've checked the manual though and can't find at which RPM% is mil power? Would anyone happen to know?
  11. I've checked also and I haven't seen anything. I strongly suspect this will be coming pretty quickly in the future.
  12. Pilots, I know it's extremely early yet but has anyone made a profile for the t16000m FCS they'd be willing to share?
  13. Try hitting alt+Enter twice, when it drops to 50fps. I had a similar issue at one point and oddly enough this solved it.
  14. This is perfectly "normal" as of now. I've documented the issue here https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3715100&postcount=9
  15. Hello, I was wondering how everyone was fairing with the mirrors in the Hornet or mirrors in general. Even on a semi high-end rig at 2560x1080 paired with a 8700k and an RTX2080 with 16gig of ram I'm seeing a drastic drop in smoothness, frame timing, etc when flying over an area with a lot of trees or buildings. As soon as I fold the mirror up everything goes back to being amazingly smooth, when I fold them down, I start getting issues again. Is this normal par for the course with DCS and Mirrors? Do most of you all fly with them off? Thank you very much. Edit: I posted this in the wrong forum, I apologize.
  16. Thanks for this tip. When I attempted this the only result I got was a blacked out AMPCD. I don't believe I edited anything incorrectly. Has anyone else had success with the above? This is what the file looks like after an edit: https://imgur.com/85m5Otm
  17. I'd love some tips on this too, I usually just take away the moving map from the AMPCD because the green on black is substantially easier to read. It seems really difficult to read anything on the AMPCD while the color map is active.
  18. Thanks a ton for this! It also fixed my issue. Having Tacview recording while running this mission absolutely demolished my 8770k, from 70+ FPS down to 40. Turning it off in the special menu of DCS cleared everything right up. Everything runs fine except for looking at certain parts of the 60's range up close really hurts FPS , by 20FPS or more, does anyone else experience this? Edit, this is the range I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/4K9xqWh
  19. Checking in. RTX2080, first noticed this tonight on the PG map using the Aerial Refueling Hornet instant action mission. Funny enough, I've been playing on this patch since release without issue. Exclusively on NTTR and Caucus. Just noticed it while loading up the above scenario and flying on PG for the first time.
  20. I've made a thread about this in another forum section assuming it was an issue that was isolated to my PC. While I'm glad to know it's not just me I did find a few easy ways to reproduce this. You can view my post history for the photographic evidence. Using the instant action Hornet "Ready on ramp" NTTR mission and looking over your left wing at mission start will consistently and always lower fps by 45% to even upwards of 50%. From 60FPS down to 33FPS. (With vsync off.) Compare this to the same instant action NTTR harrier missions that'll run without such a severe drop. This is using a system that is completely overkill for my resolution. The fact that the frames drop by nearly half on an RTX2080,8700k, 16gigs of ram at 1080p indicated a pretty severe issue. I've actually noticed the same behavior with the Hornet using both custom and the instant action scenario I listed above on two separate PCs with nearly identical specs, with the exact same results. Edit: Here is my post in question with pictures. Another user who was kind enough to check the same scenario also had the same performance. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3715100&postcount=9
  21. Sedlo, This worked perfectly. Thank you very much.
  22. Thank you for the response. I did see the patch notes about the advanced comms and comm tuning. Does this include instances where the mission prompts you to use the f10 menu to answer back? I was on the proper alley cat frequency and can hear her talk, Mickey check etc, but I'm unable to find a way to answer back regarding fueling. Should I be pushing to the tanker frequency at this point to answer? The main issue I seem to be having is, the parts of the mission that require the f10 menu to be used, are not actually pulling up the f10 menu. Apologize if I'm missing something simple. Sorry about the trouble and thank you so very much for taking the time to respond
  23. Sedlo, Thank you and everyone else very much for taking the time to create this mission. I seem to have a problem, when alleycat asks if you'd like to refuel or not the message prompt indicates to use the F10 menu. The communication window is unable to be brought up. This window pulls up fine during taxi, takeoff, etc but once alleycat asks if you'd like to refuel or not, I'm not able to open the communication window. Is there a way to resolve this? Thanks again. Edit: this is with the most current version of the mission iirc.
  24. Thank you so very much for taking the time to test that for me, I'm glad it's just the nature of the beast and not a hardware issue on my end. You stated you're running supersample via Nvida control panel, did you mean the DSR feature? Are you enabling 2.0x DSR and then selecting the higher resolution in DCS? If so, what % smoothness are you using? Thanks a ton. Edit: I noticed on your settings you're running AF at 8x. AF is incredibly cheap and the texture filtering 16x provides adds a decent amount of quality. Although you might already he forcing this through the GPU control panel, if not, you can safely bring this up to 16x with most likely not hit on performance at all. :) In regards to civ traffic, what negatives effect are you noticing with it turned on? In my testing it didn't produce much of a performance impact although this was testing on some small missions. You've done far more testing and optimisation than I have so far it seems, so I'm curious on your findings with civ traffic.
