  1. Hi guys. I have an HP Omen desktop that's about two years old. It's been working great so far. For USB hardware I have TMWH stick and throttle, Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals, Rift (needs three USB ports, keyboard, and mouse. My PC doesn't have enough native ports to support all these peripherals, so I use a USB hub for the stick, throttle, pedals, and keyboard. A few days ago, I swapped out a Rift sensor plug for my Trackir to play another popular sim that doesn't have Rift support. A few hours ago, I swapped back to Rift, and now my keyboard won't work consistently. I can't even type this post on my PC... I'm having to do this on my phone. My pedals, throttle, and stick are also connecting and disconnecting sporadically without touching the connections. Researching the symptoms shows this to be power surges in my USB ports, but none of the suggested fixes worked. I tried updating/reinstalling the drivers, restarting, shutting down the PC to unplug then replug the connections before turning the PC back on, unplugging and replugging the connections with the PC running, etc. I'm at a loss. Someone please help!!
  2. So, it's possible that under Case I conditions that you may not have to enter the marshal stack if there is little enough traffic? I've been hitting the boat alot recently, doing quite a bit of CQs, and I always do the standard departure with the 20 degree turn, 500 feet at 300 knots until 7 nm from the carrier, etc. When I fly back in, I always enter the marshal for at least one orbit (or if I'm flying with the LSO mod in a mission, I may be cleared before I orbit 360 degrees) before I go to the break. If there are few enough aircraft nearby in the air, I can simply go straight to the Initial for the break? Thanks!!
  3. I think it would be great if it were a selectable option in the settings. It's not something I would use often because in reality pilots rarely fly the jet that bears their name. They fly whatever jet is assigned to them for that flight, and that assignment is made on what jets are available with many factors accounted for (maintenance, already in use, payload differences, etc.). The helmet could be a great option, though most air force helmets are identical, and marine helmets are usually covered with theater-specific camo. Navy helmets, however, frequently have squadron and pilot names on them. I'm all for that option. Like I said, I'd rarely use the jet-name option, but it would be a great thing to have for those that would... just as long as it were an option.
  4. Carrier ATC comms are WiP right now, but should be completed sometime "soon."
  5. Hey guys. Can anyone tell me how to replace the 2.2 version of this mod with the current one in a mission I've already installed it into? I can follow the instructions to put the mod into a fresh mission, but I don't want to screw anything up by trying to replace the old version in an existing mission. Thanks!!
  6. I did notice the line was way to the left on release, but I figured it was due to him just wanting to get the bomb off the jet for the sake of the video. I honestly didn't notice any ASL swaying. I'll have to go back and watch it again.
  7. I also noticed the ASL seemed to be working correctly in the video. That would be a huge game changer if it's implemented with the fix as well
  8. I apologize for the late response. I absolutely love these skins!! I fly the Hornet in these or your River Rattlers skins the vast majority of the time. Thanks a million!!
  9. Thanks. I imagine landing at an airfield uses similar cues, but maybe not, since it's obviously not moving.
  10. Makes sense. I'll give that a try.
  11. I must have missed that. Thanks!!
  12. I just had two questions, one procedural, and one out of curiosity. The curiosity one first... Why does the Tomcat enter the Initial and Break with the wings fully swept to 68 degrees? Flying around at 350 kts with the wings in Auto, they stay almost fully unswept. I know there has to be a logical reason the break is done with them swept, but why? And the second... What sight picture should I look for to start my turn from downwind to final at an airfield (I am NOT even attempting the boat until I'm consistently competent at landing at an airfield... I've got a long way to go still)? Do I turn when the threshold passes the trailing edge of the wingtip as in the Hornet? Halfway between the wingtip and the stabilator? 45 degrees behind the 3/9 line? Some other place? Thanks for the help and all you do for all us unworthy folk.
  13. Wags is currently out-of-town, and I have no idea when he'll be returning. Surely things an impact on the Tomcat being approved.
  14. It sounds like you're describing retracting the hook after a successful trap. What Nikola is asking is why you would retract your hook after a bolter, only to need to put it down again when on downwind, or turning to the 90.
  15. Thanks. I'll check later. I'm on my way to a CAF meeting in New Orleans right now. I'll give it a look as soon as I get back.
  16. How do I check the ME units? They could be metric by accident, but I'm not sure how to tell.
  17. Thanks Doum!! I'll definitely give that a shot later.
  18. Makes sense. I'm trying to get the tanker to fly at a more realistic indicated airspeed, so it sounds like I need to set the ME speed to something around 360 or so, just to get the tanker to fly at a minimum of ~250.
  19. Hey guys. I'm having two separate problems I need help with. I've created a mission flying the Hornet, and I've got an E-2 Hawkeye with a KC-135 (the one with the two hoses on the wingtips). First, the AWACS. No matter what I do with the advanced waypoints, I can't make the E-2 show up in the radio menu when I need to contact him. I have him set to USA, his callsign is Magic, his frequency is 124, and his advanced waypoint options are to start AWACS tasking as soon as hitting waypoint 1. But I can't contact him through the radio menu no matter what I do. Now, the tanker. I have no problems contacting or joining/refueling with him, but again, no matter what I do with standard or advanced waypoint options, he ALWAYS flies at 190 knots when tanking. I have his speed set to 290 in the advanced waypoint options, and all of his waypoints are set to this speed except for the final one where I have him lining up with the runway at Kobuleti to land. I'll attach my mission if anyone needs to take a look at it. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Hornet SEAD Mission.miz
  20. I'm a big fan of having a Tornado before an F-111. But, that being said, here are some fantastic interviews with Jeff Guinn on flying the F-111. This one talks about a memorable experience he had at Red Flag. It's quite a jaw-dropping and humorous story. Please forgive me... I don't know how to make the full video show on the forums. I only know how to copy and paste the URLs. And here is the full interview... This guy is a GREAT story teller, and has many memorable moments.
  21. I just want to jump in here. I feel (and I'm sure many others do too) that having the A-G roles for the Tomcat would fill its historical mission capability in DCS. The actual Tomcat was actually a very good strike aircraft in Afghanistan and Iraq (possibly Serbia in '99 as well, but I'm not 100% on that). Personally, I love flying scenarios that are close to reality and mimic what did or would have happened. And the Tomcat being a strike platform is one such scenario. It's certainly not unlikely that it would have been used as a strike platform had a situation evolved with Iran, or if US Naval forces ever had to deploy to the Georgian region. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an A-6, or A-7, or even an F-111, although I'm a bigger fan of getting the Tornado into DCS before the Aardvark. But until we get those assets, I'll be having a blast flying the Tomcat in the strike role, because it's historical, realistic, and can/did actually happen.
  22. Does this work with Rift too, or only with Trackir?
  23. The F-16 will be full-fidelity. ED said some time back that there will be no more new aircraft developed for FC. Some full-fidelity aircraft will be brought down as a separate module for MAC, but any new aircraft from the F-18 (maybe even before the F-18) onward will always be full-fidelity. If I can find the thread where they say this, I will link it.
  24. We're getting the -C variant of the HARM.
  25. My apologies. It just didn't look right to my untrained eye.
