  1. Purple Belt division is kicking off and again top 4 will win a ticket for a run in the Brown Belt brackets! https://sa-sim.com/tournaments/?mode=brackets&tournid=6 This is definitely not the one day do it all type of competition but despite the fact that it is taking more time to progress from one division to another, it is a LOT of fun and it does serve its purpose: to allow people to compete in a progressive way, gain experience in the process and potentially end up playing more matches! We also have some exciting new features coming up for our DCS ladders! Stay tuned! 1v1 BFM DACT Ladder: Modern Era: https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=1 1v1 BFM SACT Ladders: F-14: https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=3 F-18: https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=4 M-2000: https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=6 F-16 : https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=7 M-2000: https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=8 1v1 BVR Ladders: Modern Era: https://sa-sim.com/ladders/?mode=viewladder&lid=5 And if this is not enough for you, feel free to join our free BFM sparring sessions almost everyday in the Dojo. Really good relaxed ambiance, where people roll, ask questions, share their insights and banter. Join the Dojo here: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
  2. White/Blue division brackets are out! https://sa-sim.com/tournaments/?mode=brackets&tournid=5 Top 4 players will advance into the Purple division.
  3. Registration for BFM FOR ALL T1 is now closed for White and Blue Belt. The brackets will be out today so that you can see who is your opponent and start arranging for your match at the earliest possible. Registration is still open for Purple Belt, Brown Belt and Black Belt as they wait for those who will qualify from the lower divisions. An assessment sortie is required to join Purple and above. Join The Dojo and send a PM to "Flanky": https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
  4. Quick Update: The best players from each belt division will also enter the next higher division to play against higher belts and will get promoted in case of victory over a higher belt. That is in addition to ranking points, which players earn depending on how far they have gone in the tournament. We are reaching a decent amount of players now for this first tournament, so hurry up if you would like to register! Join The Dojo Discord server and we will assist you with creating an account and signing up! Remember, match scheduling is reasonably flexible. You play your matches when you are free, any day of the week. You or your opponent can host the match or we can provide a host if neither of you can host. Plus, join our practice sessions in The Dojo almost every day around 2000Z. It's just sparring with different people, an excellent way to share insights and de-rust your BFM. All levels welcome! even no level welcome :) Join The Dojo and send a PM to "Flanky": https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
  5. Yes, still open for registration. Join The Dojo and I will set you up: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
  6. The only thing that is not allowed is disabling the fcs channels in the 18. Aside from that, we understand that this is a competition in dcs world not the real one. Nobody is going to care if you overg your airplane, just respawn and pick a new one. We play the game the way it is in its current state and we evolve with it. Thanks.
  7. Added the Absolute Division for people who do not mind fighting any skill level. Note that the Absolute division is optional so participants can sign up for both, their own belt class and the absolute division if desired. https://sa-sim.com/tournaments/?mode=rules&tournid=9 ABSOLUTE DIVISION This is for anybody regardless of skill level. Players can sign up for the Absolute Division in addition to their own belt category if desired. This class is suitable for people who do not mind fighting any skill level.
  8. BFM For All - 1v1 Tournament Series By SA-SIM.COM BFM FOR ALL is a new 1v1 tournament series concept that is based on making participants of similar level compete against each other in 5 martial art inspired color coded classes ranging from white to black, commonly referred to as belts: WHITE BELTS DCS users who are still new to BFM and would like to try it out in a friendly, supportive and fun environment. BLUE BELTS Intermediate BFM players who know BFM fundamentals but who still need practice to reach the advanced level. Think of this class as "intermediate". PURPLE BELTS Seasoned BFM players who have a good amount of experience, makes higher belts work for the kill but who haven't gained enough experience yet to reach the very high level. Think of this class as "Advanced". BROWN BELTS BFM veterans who make black belts feel uncomfortable and even catch them off guard every now and then. Think of this class as "Veteran". BLACK BELTS BFM elite players who are on par with the best players out there and have made a name for themselves in the competitive scene. Think of this class as "Ace". HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR CURRENT BELT Join our Discord server (The Air Combat Dojo) and we will take it from there. People in the BFM community know each other through regular sparring as well as in other BFM competitions. We will assign you a proper belt so you can know for which category you can sign up. If you believe that you belong to a certain belt class, please provide evidence of past matches and results and get a higher belt to vouch for you. JOIN THE DOJO PLANE AND CREW CONFIGURATION: Human RIO and Jester are both allowed in the F-14. Disabling FCS channels is not allowed in the F/A-18 Disabling Wake Turbulence in the Mission Editor prior to flying is allowed if at least one of the players will use M-2000 or any other aircraft that breaks because of WT. Fuel quantities for each aircraft can be found in the mission file, available for download down this page. Respective fuel quantities have been set to give same maximum duration in afterburner regardless of aircraft type. Calibration was made at sea level and a speed of 350kts at spawn, followed by maximum sustained turn until all fuel has been depleted. FIGHT CONFIGURATION: Clear and sunny weather, mild wind. Fight will happen over flat terrain with both players starting airborne inside a trigger zone (bubble). Once fight is on, fly towards your opponent, it's ok to have aspect and change speed and altitude but flying away before first merge is not allowed. Firing before first merge is not allowed Fuel dumping is NOT allowed. Getting spotted dumping fuel either during the fight or afterwards when watching replays will get you disqualified. Leaving the bubble will result in an automatic loss. You will receive a text and an audio warning when approaching the limit of the battle area so that you turn around straight away. Last man flying wins the round, NO need to land but you'd have to show that your plane is controllable by rocking your wings in a level flight (even if out of fuel). Players can swap sides after each round. Only official mission file provided by SA-SIM can be used in official matches. 9. Simple thing is that this is a game, not real life. Nobody is contesting your legitimacy as a real world former fighter pilot but what you are ultimately trying to do here is using a ruleset that was designed for real jets and real air combat in a video game. This is a simulator, one of the finest but at the end of the day, it is still a video game in nature. I am not saying it's easier or harder to learn than the real thing, I am saying that competing in DCS and in real life are 2 different animals, with each presenting its own challenges. No disrespect, Mover, but although you are a veteran in a real jet, you are still a beginner in DCS. Try to take into consideration what people have to say here, most have been playing for ages and know this game inside out. I for one, always appreciate when real world pilots join us in here but we should learn from each other and move forward together.
  10. Flying high is good to build SA (don't contrail though). But once you get a launch warning or suspect/assume a missile is on the way, take it to the hard deck. There is a huge difference between high and low altitude when it comes to defeating a missile. Air is much denser down low so that gives you more maneuverability while at the same time, increases drag and forces the missile to bleed off much more speed when maneuvering. Unlike you, the missile has limited energy and no refill option so if you make it work constantly, it will become slower than your jet. Try also to make it hit the ground, going behind a hill is one way but I personnaly prefer going up and down, it works almost every time because the missile always tries to pull lead on you and it works on flat terrain too. My 2 cents. Good Luck.
  11. Very useful tutorial, autopilot was driving me nuts. Now I understand how it works and where to look. Thanks a lot.
  12. F-16 is now available in these DCS tournaments: F16 vs F-16 (1v1 guns only) https://sa-sim.com/tournament/dcs-f-16-vs-f-16-guns-only-ladder/ Modern jets (1v1 guns only) https://sa-sim.com/tournament/dcs-1v1-guns-only-modern-era/ Modern jets (2v2 guns only) https://sa-sim.com/tournament/dcs-2v2-guns-only-modern-era-ladder/ Modern jets (1v1 BVR) https://sa-sim.com/tournament/dcs-1v1-bvr-unrestricted-weapons/ Modern jets (4v4 and 6v6 BVR) https://sa-sim.com/tournament/dcs-4v4-6v6-beyond-visual-range-ladder/ For guns only, F-16 fuel load has been set to 70%. For BVR, fuel has been set to 100% (players can download mission file and add their own payload)
  13. No sarcasm intended. Maybe an IMO, which I recommend you to use as well. (unless you are a real pilot who stood out in the pvp scene). I said it before - virtual skies are not real skies and real skies are not virtual skies. A lot of people think hat real aviators would prevail in DCS, and a lot of others think DCS players would do just fine in the real thing. None is true (IMO). As for purchasing DCS lessons, it's up to people, some have time, some others have no time but do have money and they would rather skip figuring things out on their own.
  14. I don't think so. Both end users (trainer and trainee) use their own respective copies of DCS. All they exchange is information not the software itself. It would be a violation if you made others pay to use your own copy of DCS. As for real pilots, with all due respect they are not Gods. Of course they would be well versed in procedures and avionics but combat wise I have yet to see a real stick win against the best DCS guys. If you want to learn how to become a good bfm player for instance, you'd rather learn from the best DCS guys not real life pilots. Truth is that a DCS expert would toy with a real pilot with limited DCS training.
  15. You did, in a currency called time :) some people don't have time to learn a game with a steep leaning curve such as dcs, they got barely enough to play it a bit. Money is not an issue for them so they would rather trade it for time.
  16. Hehe so much drama about this. So you'd gladly pay for tennis, guitar or whatever lessons but not lessons on how to play a game properly? By the way, you can learn almost ANYTHING online for free nowadays, not only DCS, so that won't stop people who prefer private lessons from having them for a fee. If you can dedicate your time to teaching people professionally one one one as long as they want for free then good luck. Instructor found and all set by the way. Thanks to those who offered their help. Happy flying.
  17. Hello, A friend of mine would like to have private lessons online to learn the Hornet's systems. If you are familiar with the avionics of the F/A-18 in DCS and how to operate them, please PM me. This student is willing to pay for quality instruction. PM for more details. Thanks.
  18. https://sa-sim.com/tournament/dcs-1v1-bvr-unrestricted-weapons/ Engage in 1v1 beyond visual range DCS combat . This ladder is unrestricted, therefore includes all BVR capable modules and air-to-air weapons!
  19. A ladder-based tournament system has been launched on SA-SIM.COM! Unlike regular events where participants have to show up on a date and time set by the organizers, this ladder format lets players compete at their own pace through challenging each other at will, then agreeing on a match date and time at their convenience. Once the match is over, either player can report the score via the website then once it is confirmed by both parties, it gets validated and processed automatically by the ladder system. If challengers win, they swap positions with whom they challenged so the purpose is to try to make your way to the top of the ladder! We have currently 2 ladders up and running for DCS: 1v1 BFM in the F/A-18 and 1v1 BFM in the F-14! Any ladder can be easily created if there is enough demand, so do not hesitate to voice your wish if you'd like to see you favorite DCS ride featured too. Also, it doesn't have to be 1v1 - TvT ladders can also be created with ease. Therefore, if you are a team/squadron leader, let me know so I can grant you necessary privileges to create your team on the website then invite your squadron mates to join. From there, team leaders can then join any TvT ladder and start challenging other teams. There are too many new goodies on the website to go over in detail here, so I'd rather invite you to login or create an account on SA-SIM to have a look! We hope that the flexibility of this new ladder system will allow more people to try competition in the time-frame of their preference. Any player who joined a ladder can decide at any moment to leave, all it takes is pushing a button and you are out. No questions asked, no strings attached. You can rejoin at any time and try again from scratch with fresh stats. If you any question or inquiry, post here or join our Discord: https://discord.gg/Un6p9j https://sa-sim.com/ Here is a nice promo video made by our friend and fierce competitor, B3rNO!

  21. Very gentle on the stick, never panicking, great speed and G control, outstanding SA and masterful BFM display. Your fight against Stuge was insane, I freaking stopped breathing at some point, especially the round that ended on a double flame out. You both pushed it to the limits. The best BFM round I've ever seen, hands down. Eventually, it came down to who was able to stay tough mentally the longest. And then, there was that incredible "I hit the brakes, he'll fly right by" move against Eniks in the finale...haha...what a way to finish a tournament. Amazing highlight video too...thanks for sharing!
  22. Road to victory - B3rNO (Hornet Cup 2 Champion)

  24. Forgot to add that up to this competition, I thought Maverick's "hit the brakes" move was only possible in Top Gun movie...not anymore...Berno can just do it ...but in DCS...under pressure and against top opponents! watch the VOD you'll see:D SA-SIM is upgrading to new features! it will be down for a few days but will come back shiny new with updated rankings and new cool stuff! Stay tuned...
