Gents from the blue and red coalitions, Here's a reminder to rollback to 1.2.9 for this Saturday battle. Back up (rename) your /Saved Games/DCS folder Hit 'Start', 'Run', type in CMD and click 'OK' Type what's in a red box and change what's in green box to where you have DCS installed, rest will be auto generated. If you need more info, check out SkateZilla's post here. - NOT FOR STEAM VERSION -

Indeed, diving then climbing back up if well timed can be very effective. But there are other tactics, example here: http://defenseissues.wordpress.com/2013/08/17/evading-air-to-air-missile/ 'Pitbull' refers to a tracking terminal stage where the missile disconnects from the platform's radar and switches to its own on-board radar. Your RWR will start screaming and counting down to impact. You should use this to time your last pull, supposed to submit the missile. Don't rely too much on spotting smoke trails to detect a launch. Like Frostie said, by comparing the range/radar strength, you can identify an interceptor (F-14/MiG-31), assume a long range TWS shot (F-14) and start defending right away.

Still in service in Iran, I heard they're still upgrading it alongside their F-14's. Despite its size, that's one missile to watch out for (plenty of energy). The A version seems to have scored numerous kills on Iraqi fighters during the Iran/Irak conflict. To answer this topic's question - yes you can defeat it but you'll have to work harder than against other missiles. The AI will usually fire from far away and wont fire a second one unless the first one misses. Best tactic would be to defend early (assume early TWS shot) by forcing the missile to bleed off the energy, so when you reverse once it gets close enough, it won't be able to follow you. This is just one way to do it, there are many other tactics. Waiting until 'Pitbull' to start defending is the wrong way to do it.

Hi Rush, Clock starts ticking after both sides call 'Fight is on', after which, fighters are cleared to take off. 10mn later, strikers get clearance to take off as well. Once the 3 hours mark reached, no take off is allowed and all airborne units must disengage and RTB immediately.

Agreed. I don't think any of the guys flying in the final has a Steam version, so even if the patch doesn't come out before the 23rd, we could still revert back to 1.2.9. I take the opportunity to kindly ask everyone from the red and blue coalition to let us know as early as possible if uncertain for 23 August, so we can offer to other pilots and avoid another postponement.

I personally feel that ED have become more concerned about the MP stability. 1.2.8 and 1.2.9 were working relatively well, then it started going downhill again since the latest patch 1.2.10. Something must have got broken with the introduction of the Dora and the Sabre. I'm confident that they will release a stability patch soon.

According to Tacview, both Spade and you were after the AWACS. You damaged the A-50 first but she was still flying, then Spade finished her with an AMRAAM. Spade got 18pts for the kill, you got 9pts for contributing to it and blue team got 150 pts on the scoreboard. :megalol:

Looks like 1.2.10 is a no-go. Guys, I've added logs from all the fights as well as pilot scoring up to now. SA points and new rankings are not there yet until final battle is over. Any queries, let me know. http://sa-sim.com/join-warrior-2-104th-and-51st-meeting-in-the-final-again/

The event page will be updated after the final fight: http://sa-sim.com/join-warrior-2-104th-and-51st-meeting-in-the-final-again/ Good luck to all!

MP sessions, am I missing something?
FLANKERATOR replied to JulienBlanc's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Make sure you don't have more than one Tacview version installed as maybe the one you think is recording your flights is actually not. Also make sure Taview is set to record flights (thick record DCS flights and double check the destination folder under the globe icon on the menu). Make sure the server you flew in does allow exports otherwise you will have to replay your track afterwards to get an ACMI. If you host your own session, open the file C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\DCS\Config\network.cfg and set the following variable like this: allow_object_export = true If none of the above works, uninstall and reinstall. -
Live streaming would be great, but we're still thinking on how we could implement this without potential data leaks. It's not like an air-show event where people can sit and watch live. We have an idea though about how we could tackle this in future battles. There are few videos here and there, latest from X-man is on sa-sim.com. Another was from Ralfidude back in JW1, which you can find under the video section, few cool ones from the 373rd as well. Whether you win or loose, you're going to love it!
-
Yes Sir. That's going to be the final battle in JW2. TS gathering at 1700z, kick off 15mn later.
-
Glad you feel better Daniel. I assume you couldn't inform us in advance. 373vFS had already a tough night going in against the 104th let alone ending up fighting 8 vs 9. Reserve slots will be a must next time to avoid having one side outnumbered.

LotATC is a great piece of software, it has more features and looks better than what can be done with CA. We will consider it seriously next time we go for a GCI-based battle.
-
We did that in the past. Works great. We will probably try it again as we start hosting a higher number of players.
-
Nice video guys! I've featured this one.
-
That could be a bit too optimistic, it could work though. I think we'll stay safe by adding slots in small increments.

Looks good. Thanks for organizing! -
JW2's final face-off between red and blue teams has been postponed to 9 August at 1700z.
-
Thanks for this initiative Woayumi.
-
Most welcome. I am sure you guys will come back even stronger next time!
-
Bold flying! Nerves of steel!
-
Congratulations to the red coalition. 51st and UVAF pilots have earned the second and last spot of the final battle and will be facing the 104th-led blue coalition next weekend in a much anticipated showdown between two powerhouses in DCS combat. We'd like to thank and congratulate members of the 56th and 71st squadrons for a very solid display on their first JW apperance. It was a pleasure to have you guys among us and looking forward to seeing you taking up the challenge once again in the next event.

Glad you guys had a blast and really cool to see people willing to come back to give their best shot regardless whether they won or lost...That's the spirit!
