Clearing the mp_log after each mission? Is this possible?
Mugatu replied to RvEYoda's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
What I do for the 3sqn stats engine is to just use seek("end"), lua, to move to the end of the file at mission start. You could do the same with C++ or whatever language your using. -
ED.? Can you leak some export info..?
Mugatu replied to Triggerhappy69's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hmm that lua export is not updated for BS? ps ED mentioned they were now using Lua 5.1 for BS, makes life easier for those using lua modules. -
What kind of Training System will be in BS?
Mugatu replied to Snacko's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
How about setting up authorised IPs from the community? Be fun seeing 20 KA-50s trying to hover together during an online training sortie. KA-BOOM-50. -
How can you say no to the strike eagle, shame on aim :P

In the first picture it looks like the SA-7 went straight for the engine, smack bang in the middle of the fuselage. Is there any deflection/cooling of the exhaust in the Apache? There seems to be a common thread with the new generation of helo's (Tiger, ROOIVALK, Mi-28 ) with much reduced IR signatures, lessons from Russia's involvement if Afghanistan with the Mi-24. http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9439/15333tp4.jpg

Do you know how many Dbs sitting in the cockpit on a KA50?

Page 38 - 40 of said report, no? :)

Depends on the helicopter but if a laser pointer can set it off then I don't see a problem with a Vihkr's designator especiially when enough power would be required to designate a target at over 5k!

Pretty much all you want to know about the Hellfire: Pk doesn't really miss ;) http://www.missilesandfirecontrol.com/our_products/antiarmor/HELLFIRE/product-HELLFIREII.shtml http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/agm-114.htm ps the Vikhr is closer to the DAGR below: http://www.missilesandfirecontrol.com/our_products/antiarmor/DAGR/pic01-DAGR.shtml

Didn't the Russian's know it was just a movie before they ripped the design? http://www.colddeadfish.net/images/SWFIDM/003.jpg

From my reading helo's are very easy to spot on the ground or close too it due to the distinctive doppler return of the main rotor (both search radars and missile seekers). Someone posted a link on lockon.ru with running diary of the kills during desert storm, lots of helos were picked up by awacs and attacked. Although Shaw's book "Fighter Combat" indicates that if you going for a guns kill on an armed helo be very careful as they are very difficult to maneuvers in for the kill. Bombs are the best bet:) Also tanks with IR can easily spot a rotor head (or 2 in the KA-50s case) turning above the tree line, all they have to do is wait for the helo to pop up then boom. Lucky for remote lazing hey and loft hellfire shots!!

oh no :( do the B105 instead much more fun to fly. http://www.guncopter.com/video/bo-105-hot-missiles.php

Might be dead b4 you get to point, but then again it's probably not going to be operating where other enemy helo's are!!
-
Man, think you need to go back to the drawing board here, those helo's are very different not even looking at the avionics. For instance have a look at the max take off weight of the AH-64D v Tiger v Roivalk. Very different helos for different roles.

Yep that's what I did.

EA is releasing all titles natively on OS X as with ID Software, X-PLANE, and many. I use to run lomac with an X800GT on a PC and found it actually ran faster on my macbook pro (X1600). I'd agree the cards in the iMacs aren't the best out there but they're good enough unless you really what a dedicated game machine ... then again if you spending that sort of money the Mac pro comes in with Geforce 7900/Ati 1900Xts or a Quadro FX if you're really loaded. Today's mac are pretty much dollar for dollar for an equivalent notebook with the unmeasurable benefit of OS X :) Also have a look at what's topping the best sellers list on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/software/ref=pd_ts_pg_2/102-6011898-3892162 but the problem with Lomac/DCS is it seems to be locked into Direct X and Microsoft's cunning monopoly strategies :)

Thanks, so what systems limitations are there when you loose the left or right bus? Thanks Mug

Can you ground start it without an External Power Unit then? It would be interesting to see the electrical system design or its representation on the MFD if displayed?

Poll question: air/rotorcrafts in the DCS plans !
Mugatu replied to HungaroJET's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Why is the Mig-29 more popular than the Su-27? It's never really done much for me. Also the stats on 3sqn show the Su-27 is getting more action. -

Mugatu replied to HungaroJET's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not for much longer, we've traded them in on a super slugs :( Fast Jets: I'd love to see the F-15E back in the sky and a Eurofighter or two. Helos: ARH Tiger (Hellfires), Apache Longbow, A129 Mangusta. -
questions about game programming...
Mugatu replied to superdunkaroos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Start by learning the language first and the principles of software design. Knowing the basics of OO will help you master C++ before moving on to games. There's plenty of free tuts around such as: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/concepts/ http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ -
Unless they model a Tiger HAP.

Mugatu replied to Rhino104's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Must have enterened into an untested area of the FCS, they don't say how many negative G btw :P Flight Manual probably states reset trims before blah blah blah ... or they missed an entry. -

negative-g, 360 degree roll with eight SDBs sounds more glorious to me! Must have cut the airflow to the engines. -
It's just a spare. Not connected to the flight controls or fuel system in any way. The other pics are test beds for engine qualification, not what Qantas does.
