  1. No it was from one of my guides, but hey-ho I'm sure he can help himself with a little effort.
  2. Anyone else had controller mayhem since the update? I know it's nothing new, but as I had only just redone everything with an alternative stick, it was highly frustrating. Not only were there multiple assignment and input issues (HOTAS not being recognised by DCS World despite being recognised and working with Windows 10 until after 2 restarts) but even keyboard assignments being shown as conflicting with others, when I haven't touched keyboard assignments for years (since VR - 2016). I'm guessing that's maybe where something has been changed by ED but not by a 3rd party dev? In any case - killed my planned flying day Sunday but I'm well into getting things reassigned - will only take a few more hours, even with back-ups, cos everything needs to be checked as well.
  3. Yeah, thanks for the great campaign, anyway and good luck in whatever you are doing
  4. There should also be 2 in the training missions section, under the list for the L-39C *edit - you should also be able to select the ZA version in the quick mission builder.
  5. Oh, you did a good job then - I thought someone else had done them. Nice to 'see' you again anyway - hope things are going well I guess it's too much to expect that you will be doing more campaigns? Like with the Kiowa maybe?
  6. I did increase monitor size when I switched - from 24" HD to 27" QHD. For once an increase in size didn't leave me feeling like I had to sit further back from the monitor.
  7. I had the same issue someone else mentioned earlier in the thread in that when I applied this mod plus the TAD1004 trees one, as recommended, I just got a black screen. I removed both, did a repair and all was working again. I'll try again, but it's weird. Using JSGME for both. @Nedum - I'm sure I saw someone talking about a small tweak to an lua file in the trees mod thread, to make them show up at a further distance. I don't do it for VR performance, but that's probably where to look. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/242084-better-trees-for-caucasus-v6/
  8. It arrived just now - very nice bit of kit. Only issue is that it's a little cramped for my large hands, especially compared to the Mongoos, which is well spaced out. The Connie is just fine for using the axes and left side hats, but it's a struggle for me with the middle and right two. Probably just take a bit of getting used to. Happy with it, overall, anyway - before plugging it in. Seeya in a few hours....
  9. The 'after entering cabin' part is included in the start-up tutorial, but I guess it isn't quite as thorough as in the actual aircraft and probably most virtual pilots won't bother with that anyway, but the ALT switches aren't mentioned in that either. I just wasn't sure if they were worth putting in my guide/kneeboard - I reckon I'll just put a check item in there, that should take care of it. btw - they are mentioned in the procedure listed in the dev's quick start guide - just not in the actual tutorial mission. Nice document, thanks I'm really enjoying this plane - I was looking for a module to concentrate on for a few months and I think I've found it in the Mirage F1 - much more my kind of thing.
  10. Just about the X3D - I have the 7800X3D and bought this cheapish cooler at £30 ($38) and it keeps my CPU in the 50's °C the vast majority of the time - also using a highly cooled Corsair 4000D Airflow case (which can use water cooling, too): https://www.thermalright.com/product/phantom-spirit-120-se/ **it's quiet, too!
  11. +1 - I switched from HD to 1440 a short while ago and didn't expect much, but the difference is very noticable. Especially stands out when I watch things like this (oh and DCS 2.9 runs smooth as silk in VR up to now - specs in sig):
  12. Not sure about the stick dead zones - I had to put them in (usually never did) because my stick(s) was tripping the AP off in the A-10C. This was an issue with the G940 and my current VPC T50 CM2. That was with the 'softer' set-up, though - I just switched to the stiff springs and cams and have yet to test it, but I suspect I can ditch the dead zones for X/Y again now. Was baffling me for months, why the AP was constantly disabling itself! PS - as for the topic title, I think it's a total non-issue. Who is going to buy a plane without knowing anything about it (at this price, too) and then whinge that it isn't up to 21st century spec? No-one with any kind of credibility, that's for sure.
  13. I'm doing a start-up guide and have been through the tutorial mission, and the manual (and Chuck's guide for that matter) several times now and found that firstly they aren't consistent - different things, different order, which may not be that big an issue, but I also noticed that the start-up tutorial mission does not even mention the alternator switches. Not even a 'check' of them.
  14. 100%. I've raced in real race cars in the '80's and did reasonably well - won quite a few trophies. On a PC my racing is terrible. Always has been. I won one online race in over 20 years and these days I'm at the back of the field. IRL I didn't race by the numbers as many of my colleagues did - I raced using the things that are all missing on a PC.
  15. I just found this post and I take it from that, that it does indeed still work, even though it was made for 1.5 I'm sure I've seen people saying they can't complete the campaign due to bugs, but no idea if they were individual cases or not. Sorry O/T
  16. For the life of me I can't remember his forum name - only his real name. He is French - he did all the French character's voices, I did all the different British voices and someone else did the one American character. It was a lot of fun and got me on to do voice work for a couple of other devs. Took up many hours but as I enjoyed it so much, it didn't matter to me. It was very nice to be given 'inside access' to guys in the dev team as well, and was very enjoyable talking to them on Skype about their work and upcoming projects at the time. Seems an age ago now. *just looked right back to 2016 Gazelle posts and slapping my head as i see his name! Really don't know if he's Fragger's brother, though.
  17. Thank you - there were quite a few complaints, though. Didn't really bother me, but the guy who made the campaign got some flak, which riled me a bit. It was all a tongue-in-cheek thing.
  18. these are the times I just chuckle and fire up DCS World 1.58 instead!
  19. Already done that as requested by Polychop and got lots of grief for it when the module was released! It was exactly what Polychop said they wanted, but people were complaining that "people don't talk that way any more!". Something to bear in mind btw you can also hear my wife in some DLC campaigns, doing ATC
  20. I decided to go for the Constellation Alpha - it apparently has a short twist axis which may be better for me than a standard one. At least for DCS helicopters. I tried using an analogue PoV hat for rudder control before and didn't get on with it. I suppose I could use a modifier button to switch the stick between roll and yaw, like in Elite - but that would probably get me into trouble on occasion.
  21. In fairness, once I mentioned it to him, he also offered it to me at no cost (I'd already bought it and he was one guy so I wasn't going to do that and refused a refund) and advised me how to make it so that it was how I wanted. He still provided us with a quality add-on. Don't forget this was also a few years ago. Had he not done it, there would be no VAICOM at all and we'd be stuck with our own basic voice commands which would probably be nowhere near as integral to the sim.
  22. I spoke to Hollywood about this at the time of release. He said he had no idea about official procedures and terms, but was open to suggestion.
  23. Thanks for the comments. I do have two twist sticks, but both are fairly basic and quite old (though still in good working condx). My HOTAS is Virpil T50 CM2, and I didn't know they did a twisting one, too - must take a look at that. It's been a very long time since I last used a twisting stick for helicopters - probably Gunship! I didn't think the DCS rotaries would be flyable with that type of controller, but it seems they can, then. I'll give it a go with one of my older sticks and if I get on okay I'll look at the VPC shop.
  24. Great, thanks - was worried all that money was gone down the pan - and it means I can keep flying the rotaries. Time to get stuck into those manuals, then!
  25. I am unable to fly helicopters any more due to health issues with knees & hips - I own the Apache since release but have never been able to fly it. Does George enable me to do the CP/G and just let him get on with all the flying, without me having to touch the pedals at all? That would be awesome. (edit - I know I have to direct him, that isn't an issue) Same goes for the Hind, really.
