https://pimax.com/products/dmas-earphone Someone on Reddit just gave a shout, so I got mine - they are cheaper from Pimax (£96 incl) than Amazon UK (lowest I've seen was £109)) and my top strap got here in about a week, so the delivery from Pimax doesn't seem to take long, either.

Too many children are forum members, methinks. Parents, control your offspring! It's always someone else's fault... When it does get released we'll get the same people complaining about this or that or the other and demanding to know why it was released when it clearly wasn't ready. You know, the ones who are always demanding to know exactly when stuff will be released, then complaining when it isn't released on the date they insisted on being given. *blimey - there's been a whole new page of posts since I started this reply!
-
Yes indeed, thank you - I just got confirmation of that from Pimax Support. I was surprised to see people complaining on Reddit about slow support replies to their queries as mine have been very fast - 24 hours maximum. *also just ordered the Studioform kit for face and top strap pads. I don't know how much customs will hit me for, but what the hell - it's for a good cause!

Well I am still a bit concerned. I got the email confirming my purchase, and the fact that it's referring to me as "Guest" despite the fact that I have a Pimax account and ordered from being logged in to that account, and that it wouldn't accept the code (the support email quoted the code and I copy/pasted it) makes me think I may be classed as a later buyer and put to the back of the queue, rather than wherever my pre-order was. Suppose it doesn't matter so much really, but I have to be honest and say that I think the whole thing was bit farcical. I don't know how many times I read that statement on the status update before I thought that perhaps things weren't as we had been initially told (i.e. that we would get an email inviting us to pay the full amount if we had pre-ordered the headset). Even the confirmation isn't that clear about whether the headset will be sent in 8 weeks, or whether I should actually receive it in 8 weeks. I know most of the Chinese companies have the best intentions and are very polite, but often in my experience their English causes more problems than it solves! I'm waiting to hear from support about the pre-order refund. * the £8 was how much more it costs now compared to when I checked about 3 weeks ago. It was £908 then. The pre-order charge was £28.80

Hi Calvin - support got back to me already - amazingly quick response - and gave me a link to pay in full, which I've now done. Didn't accept my pre-order discount code, though (I have already told support) and unfortunately the price has gone up a further £8 from £908 to £916.80 since I first looked, but that's life, I guess. £3 less than my Index, which I still use and like - if I can say the same about my Pimax Crystal Light in 5 years it will have been just as worth it!

How to improve loading time??
Johnny Dioxin replied to sniperpr1's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Just had another go while 'adminning' - I'm talking of 2D/Monitor start. Just now was 2' 43" which is back well within the acceptable range. Second start immediately after closing was 37 seconds. That's fine - reason for the previous 4 minutes+ is unknown, but these things happen. *This may be a delayed effect of removing aircraft mods -
Thanks Calvin, I've just sent a support ticket to Pimax to ask them to clarify my position and how my order proceeds a few minutes ago. If I am still unsure after they respond I'll send you a PM - I'll let you know

Carrier Operations Guide by Pieterras
Johnny Dioxin replied to Lex Talionis's topic in DCS: Supercarrier Tutorials
Sometimes posts on here just beggar belief! My congrats, Pieterras, not just on the guide, but on your incredible self-discipline in your response to that post, which I'm still struggling to believe he actually wrote. -
Well excuse me but I've been hearing that since I made my order and seen nothing to confirm it. However, if I tell myself it will be December it gives me no reason to feel disappointed (as long as it does indeed happen!). August has been the estimate since my order, too. I must admit I still check my email several times a day just for this, as I want to make sure I get it confirmed promptly. I'm sure the schedule would be adjusted accordingly, but the statement that the pre-orders need to be confirmed and paid by the end of June doesn't help, with us just days away from that date: On the most recent update https://pimax.com/pages/crystal-light-shipment-status-update-06-16

How to improve loading time??

Nice! Do you have all the modules? I don't have everything, but not missing much - my install is 626GB (no mods) -
I ordered mine on 17th May. According to their timetable from 16th June I should have received my email by now, but no sign of it and I see several people posting on Reddit who also haven't heard anything and they ordered before I did, so I'll be probably expecting delivery around December. I'm not joking, either. Good job I'm not without a headset until then, so it's no biggie, but still doesn't inspire confidence. I have bought several accessories, from 3rd parties and from Pimax, though - so if it takes that long before my headset arrives, I'll lose the option of returning them if they are no good. My mistake - I won't make it again. I did that with all my headsets (for example with subscription lenses, so I can use it as soon as it arrives without trying to fit my normal spec's inside) but they were all delivered on time - or close enough to it. *edit - just wanted to add that I was a real Pimax sceptic up to this time - I refused to consider any of their headsets due to their reputation for build quality, not delivering on promised functions etc, but I thought that this time they seemed to have turned a corner and I really believe that the Crystal Light will be a good product, so I decided to give them a chance now. I did kind of expect bumps along the path.

How to improve loading time??
Johnny Dioxin replied to sniperpr1's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
How long are your load times? I've noticed an increase - takes almost twice as long to start as it did before the single version change, though whether that is the cause is unknown. It seemed to take a while in 2.8 so I timed it and it came to around 2 minutes - which is actually about the same as other flight sims, so it was just me being impatient. I noticed recently that it was taking a lot longer, so I timed it a couple of days ago and it was 4 minutes. Only difference apart from the official updates is the addition of the F-4E, OH-58D and Kola map. Maybe they are the cause, somewhere. -
Great - I couldn't remember where the thread was, just that I found it with a search, but that was the gist of it.
-
If you do a search you will find the answer here (that's how I found it) - just disregard the first 5 then subtract 5 from the remainder.
-
Delay it after so many have paid for it? When so many have complained so much about how long products take to get released - as recently as the F-4E - after they have paid for it? I bought it, even though I don't like glass cockpits. Most of the "unannounced" functions people mention here as a reason for not buying it are not a reason to not buy the helicopter. Maybe they will come, maybe they won't. If you don't like it, don't buy it - or don't buy it until it's developed to your satisfaction. Why all the endless whinging over an unreleased product is beyond me. Sign of the times, I suppose - especially here on ED forums, the apparent whinge central of the flight sim world. The excuse "because we're passionate about flight simming" is pathetic. If you want to fly it on release, buy it - if you don't, then go away and fly something else or buy it later. Endless complaining not required.
-
Disappointing - should have had my purchase confirmation email by the 21st and it hasn't arrived. Seems even their updated dates were optimistic. I'll just relax and get on with using my Pico4 - the Crystal is here when it's here - be that July, August or December! *edit: the pre-order customers are actually required to make a purchase in the shop - so if you are like me and expecting an email inviting you to pay, you won't get one. You need to go to the Pimax shop and order your headset and do it before 30th June to keep your place.

Good to know - thanks. Of course I have my VR Wave lenses now, but if I get another headset I'll look at Hons as well

OH-58D Kiowa Operation Dixmude Campaign (Released!)
Johnny Dioxin replied to Bailey's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I bought the Kiowa yesterday and was thinking how awesome it would be to fly Dixmude with it, but I know the developer is finished with DCS World, so thought it was a lost cause. Pleased to find it here now - well done! I don't know if you are using the voices from the original campaign, but I have no objection (I did all the UK voices) and I'm sure @dimitriov will be fine with it too, if you ask him. If you want to, of course Can't wait to get stuck in. *edit: I had a look at your other campaign conversion for the Hind and noticed some people mentioning bugs in the comments. Is it compatible with 2.9 without any edits? -
I saw on Reddit that people were using HonsVR - but I do believe they are a US based company? This can mean additional costs in the UK which is why I decided not to buy from them. Anyway, no matter - regarding the head "gasket" or pad, or whatever it's called, I have quite a large collection of pads of varying thicknesses and sizes that I've used with various headsets and I'm hoping that if the Crystal OEM one is an issue, I will be able to use one of the ones I have in my "VR Stuff" box As long as the plastic interface is a velcro/hook type, no problem. I've done lots of that kind of thing to make previous headsets more comfy (the Pico 4, in certain circumstances, has the lenses so close it has given me headaches and sometimes nausea, too, with my eyelashes brushing against the edges). I even once used a mop head in the back of a headstrap! Boy, was that comfy Think it was the original Quest.
-
Shouldn't need that. My DCS World install is set to run in VR. If I have a VR headset plugged in it does so. If I don't have one plugged in (or switched on) it starts in 2D on the monitor. The shortcut actually has the --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR command line but it doesn't make a difference if I don't have a headset ready to go. Used to be the case you needed to faff around, but really pleased it isn't the case any more - makes it easier when I just want to do config or admin stuff in the sim.

For info: I had issues getting decent priced (including import/taxes etc) prescription lenses for the Light, but found one called VR Wave, based in Hong Kong. The lenses took only 11 days to arrive (UK), compared to weeks from the likes of VR Optician, Widmo and Gauss Tech (VR Covers) and also a bit cheaper, all-in. They look great - as I don't have my Crystal Light yet (17th May pre-order) I can't test them in that, but amazingly they fit the lenses in my Pico 4. So I tested them in that - and I am actually keeping them in there until my Light turns up, cos they are far better than the ones I bought for the Pico! Seriously. The fit is slightly loose in the Pico, but the actual lenses seem about the same size - and the same shape. I don't think you could use Pico 4 lenses in the Crystal, though, due to the rims being flat in the Pico. Anyway, £78.11 complete and 11 days is the best deal I've had in 8 years of VR, so I do recommend this VR Wave lot - and they are very keen with their customer support by email, too. btw the Comfort Top Strap is back in stock for the UK at the Pimax store, too - mine arrived in a few days and I'm pleased with that, too.
-
Thanks for your thoughts. I don't expect to find it comfy - the only strap I did not make any aftermarket changes to was the Rift CV1 (of 5 headsets I own) and even that I changed the face pad. Seems to be par for the course. I already ordered prescription lenses, but unfortunately I was unable to use the manufacturers I like best because they don't do anything for Pimax headsets. I had to use VR Wave, who despite appearances are based in Hong Kong. That doesn't bother me as long as the lenses do the job. The only one I've had lenses before that do Crystal lenses are VR Optician - and their base price starts already above the total I paid VR Wave. Feels like forever since I ordered, but it's only been just under 4 weeks. It does irk me a bit that Pimax are sending out emails - and their distributors are posting on their main sales pages - that if you order now you get your headset in 6 weeks. Yet many of us ordered almost a month ago and aren't scheduled to receive our headsets until early August - maybe late July if we're lucky. I think Pimax handled this release and the information given out pretty badly, but of course if the headset's a winner, we'll all forget about that!
-
The point is that it's been asked for many times over the last 10 or more years and no serious dev (i.e. one that has actually hung around) has even commented on being interested in it. So - "don't hold your breath". *edit - it's also not as if those requests run into dozens of even posts, let alone pages, of enthusiastic potential customers. Jaguar is one of, if not my fave RAF aircraft - used to love watching them arriving and leaving in RAFG (2sqn) and would be an instant purchase for me - but I highly doubt it will happen for reasons stated.

[BUG] Spoolup time of J79 engines too quick
Johnny Dioxin replied to frumpy's topic in Bugs & Problems
I'm ever so sorry for having a sense of humour,. Guys like you are the reason I stay away from these forums more than ever when it used to be like my second home. You judge me about judging others? Which I wasn't doing in any case. Topic over for me. Have a nice day. -
That would be a bit of a joke as ED have one of the biggest download libraries full of pirated music in the User Files section.
