To be fair, I cant complain about clock speeds. 3900X is rated at 4.6 Ghz max turbo but mine is consistently boosting above that on the better CCX. The other cluster is not so good, but that is the way with 3900X / 3950X. 6 well performing cores and 6 performing within specs is enough to drive things. I wasn't even expecting to see 4.75 Ghz clock speeds :)

I dont have and did not have 27" so cant compare. I had 1440p 35" ultrawide and spotting was better but tracking not. Right now I somehow struggle with spotting, but when I spot bugger and zoom I can tell from miles away what is he, what color is his nose and if his eyeballs are blue or green :megalol:

Fellow pilots, on behalf of the team I would like to wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Here is the last update for this year, to give you some insight into our most recent developments. We will be taking some time off and hope to see you all back in 2020! http://leatherneck-sim.com/2019/12/22/christmas-update/

Ok, great. But what does that add ? Manual allows to open to 61". I take off at 55" / 3000 RPM since I told you, I dont need more than that for smooth take off.
-
I take-off at 55", its sufficient. No need to reach for 61". Also, I know that there is a need to run engine at higher rating every 30 min, however rarely there is a need for that due to the fact that it takes half of that time to get to combat area. Burning Skies tracks are notoriously unreliable. I wish I could record live but doing so online when playing at 4k is a no no for me sadly.

This joint operations started when Poland joined NATO. Either our German friends flew to Poland or we flew to Germany. In latter case trainigs were also conducted with German F-4 Phantoms. They comprised both air to air and ait to ground training. It was a good opportunity to exchange experiences and build some trust between the partners. There is a fair amount of pictures from those days. I place them in spoiler:

Ehh, I did not say its constant speed. Its speed I usually climb at from Novo to about middle of the map (using BS mission as a reference). Level speeds are higher, but they do change as I change directions every 20 - 30 sec.
-
Please, I know how to level off and fly straight accelerating to the top speed. I can reach that speed too. You dont fly straight for more than a minute when doing combat and top speed isn't even a problem so I'm not sure what you are even trying to point out. The speed of 220 mph is perfectly fine if coolant and oil temp gauges stay in green field. If they dont I bring the nose down / reduce the power. But they do stay within the limits as quite frankly, optimal climb speed for P-51 is mere 175 MPH CAS as per manual at Normal Power rating. And as I've said, Spitfire which is both slower aircraft yet with principally the same engine does not experience similar issues.
-
That's what Tacview says and thats what I see on my main instruments.
-
Do you ever climb ? I mean if you fly over the trees at all times than surely you can hit 300 mph. But large portion of the online combat and flying involves climbing to an altitude. So to keep about 2000 ft/min rate of climbt I fly at 220 mph with the above setting. No use of flaps obviously. Anyhow, 2/3 of my engine failures occured in a straight flight when crusing at 12.000 ft at about 300 mph TAS (checked the Tacview, wish it recorded engine settings too). To be completely fair, a principally the same engine in Spitfire does not exhibit nearly as many issues as the P-51 one. In the past there were issues with overheating but after one of the patches I cant recall engine failure in Spitfire.
-
It's not. Or not always as you can see. But pilot only wrote what was commonly accepted view back in the day. Undoubtedly Tornado is a substantially more modern and advnaced airframe if compared to MiG-21bis.
-
Its not about getting more or less but getting first all the effects preceeding engine failure. Which is called feedback. If engine is running rough, if something is not going ok, you should see it or hear it. Most of the failures that happen are instant. Engine goes from 3000 RPM to complete stop in split second. If I knew the reasons, Id not be here. I start the engine, warm it up (unlike most of the people) and cruise at about 40 - 45 " / 2700 RPM at 180 - 220 MPH. Temps are fine. So there is no visual indication that engine is about to fail.
-
Do you fly online ? How often do you fly ? I've been flying P-51 since 2014 pretty much constantly (at least a few times a month) and I can assure you there are other problems and failures. Rest of my squadron can testify on that since pretty much everyone has experienced them in some shape or form. Also because of that I do not use WEP anymore. Ever.
-
No its not. Or not only. 44" / 2700 RPM is max continous rating as far as I'm aware. And I already stated that I wasnt overboosting.
-
Apparently localizer needle is inverted (again lol). I informed Rudel yesterday about that.
-
We already have enough engine failures. I yesterday had 3 engine failures out of nowhere, when crusing. No sudden throttle movements, no abuse of engine for prolonged time and no WEP use. Engine just instantly seized out of nowhere. Even temperatures were fine. I hope to get more feedback before we head into more failure terriroty. Frequently I'm scratching my head as to why something happened and if I did something wrong since none of my gauges indicates anything out of order.

Hey folks, I've been recently doing some translations and by "accident" I also had the following account translated. I figured it will be interesting to read and might bring you some excitement :pilotfly: Credits: This text was written originally in Polish and does not belong to me. The author is the pilot himself, who posted it about 10 years ago on his own website dedicated to the MiG-21. That website is gone, but I saved the pdf back in the day. Think it was worth it.
-
I can relate to that. Dots make no difference at 43" 4k monitor, but then i watch buddies with VR who see big black dots like flies. Well, he already gave ... in a way. Previous state was more optimal for guys like him and me.

No need to be mean mate. Grom has been there for so long and so many users like it, that at this point removing it would do more harm than good. Nobody is forced to use it and no mission maker for multiplayer is obliged to put it, so anyone looking for 100 % accurate scenario can avoid it. If we can get electric schematics for that. We would need to know how it was integrated into the airframe.
-
Well, if we had any information on its employment and integration into MiG-21bis aircraft, it could be possible to add that. I know that there already is a suggestion in Mantis to add that. Also, got the picture of the R-60 vs R-3S missiles: Descriptions says what you pretty much can see - R-60 leaves no smoke and produces little to no flash in comparison to R-3S missile.
-
To be fair I dont know. I have seen Cuban 21s apparently with R-73s but I'm not an expert on Cuban aircraft.
-
To be fair, while I understand the sentiment for accuracy in specific airframes, one has to really understand that MiG-21 was operated by a huge number of countries and they often did a number of things not anticipated or exactly accepted by original designers. I would argue that MiG-21 airframe is one of the most adaptable and converted out there, and proof is a Romanian Lancer or Indian Bison. When I was researching Polish MFs, there was an interesting part about them lacking ability to carry R-60s, which Polish MiG-21bis could. So a program was initiated to convert MFs and provide them with ability to launch R-60 missiles. There are even neat pictures from it, with one showing clear differences in the amount of smoke and "fire" generated behind the R-3S and R-60 missiles. Then you have Serbia, DDR, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Finland and Poland producing indiginous reconnaissance pods, Polish cluster munitions, Iraqi Magic Is, Polish PBP-2-R-3S, etc. Not to mention some countries like DDR upgraded in their MiGs engines. However, there is a number of things that can be added, that are realistic and would not stretch the meaning of accuracy. The PL-5 missile doesnt seem to be among them.
-
That's the Saturn pod. Designed as a lighter and more viable photi reconnaissance pod. At its core it was heavily modified UB pod. I can write more about it when I get home.
-
I will bring this to guys attention but personally I think there is a number of more realistic and viable additions like Magic I missiles which were added to Iraqi MiG-21s, Serbian L-128-4 rocket pod , Polish ZK-300 cluster bomb or SATURN reconnaissance pod. But that's of course my opinion :)
