  1. You mean option labeled: "Historical Reprojection Mode" ?
  2. I've got Reverb few days ago and started flying with some tweaking but feel quite confused with settings, especially since older tweaking tutorials (like: https://vr4dcs.com/2019/09/10/reverb-settings-for-dcs/) are not perfectly applicable due to changes in the SteamVR. So I'm trying to focus on SteamVr and ingame settings, but not sure whether this Reprojection still has to be enabled via file editing or perhaps it's now a default feature.
  3. I can confirm. My performance in A-8 is noticeably worse than in D-9 and P-51. No idea if its related to propeller animation or something else however ...
  4. I actually want birdcage F4U-1. It's my favorite Corsair. Has the beauty of original design. Plus we've been asked countless times why not F4U-4, so there's that :P
  5. Except we're getting Marianas only for now. So it's not a great idea to get a mismatched aircraft, unless one wants to get bestest aircraft which seems to be the thing coming from your post (most power, best climb rate, turn performance, etc.). I was hoping this trend would stop finally.
  6. Cool, we eventually may end up with entire R-2800 family :) Fingers crossed for F6F-3.
  7. Yeah, I dont know what to say. Issue existed with English language cockpit, but other than that I have no idea. I've never experienced issues with radar screen myself.
  8. Yup, we're aware of that one. Thank you!
  9. I've heard the same sound issue yesterday online. Was first to spawn, another P-51 spawned right next to me and before any of us started engine, we heard exactly what sMashPiranha linked in his post.
  10. I believe its called Screen Space Local Reflections. And yes, same here. I fly at 4k and FPS went from 59 (I capped my game there not to hit G sync upper limit) to 24 - 40.
  11. We dont treat updates as teasing, but as means of keeping you informed about what is going on and what are we working on. Plus, cockpit and pilot are actually done. And external changes of the model too. Whats really left to do is refitting the cockpit to the model, since right now those two dont match each other perfectly.
  12. It's not a project management but legal reasons. There is a time limitation for F4U delivery and we have to keep that term, so Rudel is working hard on the F4U now and for a while. And when he's doing so, he cant work on the 21. That's just the reality of a small team mate. I've said it a few times already. Unless we get to Kamino cloning facilities and multiply Rudel, we're short on skilled artists :helpsmilie:
  13. Done. It wont be in the upcoming update (which apparently as Bignewy says is today) but we've got that change on our track now.
  14. Yes, I havent seen any significant reports except for some feature improvements such as making it louder. I'll ask our programmer to make it standard.
  15. That Ki-61 from the picture is doable. German engine, Japanese aerodynamics ;)
  16. Against K-4 it would be neat, but you dont need that against D-9 :P
  17. You never know if you can beat someone until you do :P
  18. Well, I was alone later in that chase. Why havent you turned and shot me down ? :P
  19. I dont have a habit of giving up. However there are better things I can think of than chasing guys on a combat server at 2 AM my time :/
  20. Yeah, that was exciting ... thanks for wasting 30 minutes of my life.
  21. Japanese Army might very well had their own wind tunnels, they did not need to capture any. Nor would they find any in the Pacific. Closest facilities were in US and we know that Japanese did not manage to get there :) Each company (Nakajima, Mitsubishi, Aichi, Kawasaki and Kawanishi) and each service (IJN and IJAAF) had their own facilities and testing grounds. I know that Navy and Mitsubishi had really fantastic testing grounds and wind tunnels and saw A6M, J2M and A7M wind tunnel tests (often not entire airframe but specific items were part of tests such as rudder controls, flaps, etc.). I have not seen however anything comparable for the Japanese Army and Nakajima especially. Not that it didnt exist, Nakajima was second largest manufacturer (or maybe first) of aircraft engines and aircraft. But Nakajima after the war (on Allies "request") was split into a couple companies and largest of those existing today is Subaru. However because of that substantial part of Nakajima records was destroyed or vanished. I know that records of Nakajima designed NN airfoils were lost as well. Today its possible to "reverse engineer" them with modern software and good enough manual / manufacturing drawings. Ki-84s wing was based on Nakajima NN-21 airfoil. I've someone using Ki-27 or Ki-43 drawings to produce NN-21 ordinates. And thats just for Nakajima. Other companies and even scientific institutions experimented with various types of airfoils, including laminar flow airfoils and low drag airfoils. Overall period of 1931 to 1945 of Japanese aviation industry is not very well explored, particularly in western historical publications. From my visits in Japanese museums and various questions asked about data I know that even Japanese arent giving much attention to collecting and preserving various precious documents. A lot of them are in private collections which is a shame, because they belong to museums and archives where proper care can be given to them.
  22. If I obtain sufficient documentation, who knows. I have various manuals for Ki-84 (unlike for N1K1-J for which I have only handwritten piloting notes, that are barely readable) but as Yoyo would tell you, that is mere tip of the iceberg. But then again, starting point with just an Ai would already be something :)
  23. A6M5 has substantial advantage over F4F-3, comparable to the advantage F4U-1 has over A6M5. Again, the way I see it: F6F-3 vs A6M5 N1K1-J / Ki-84 vs F4U At least if we talk in context of Marianas timeframe.
  24. Here is some decent video about Zero. I would add a lot to that, but at this point it begs to write another book (of which there are many already) rather than extend any video: F6F-3 vs A6M5 are actually fairly balanced. Even if you compare performance figures of model 52 Zero and dash 3 Hellcat, they arent that far apart. F4U-1D is however having a substantial advantage. But this is where you can pull some strings and end up with slightly less historical, but still coherent scenario. I.e. you could introduce something like N1K1-J "George". 343rd Kokutai (not to confuse with 1945 unit, which was using same numbers but was comprised of completely different crews and sub-units) was supposed to fly those to Marianas, but slow production by Kawanishi and Navys bad policy of spreading those aircraft into couple units (341st and at least one more Kokutai) prevented them from taking newest bird in number and they had to fly in A6M5.
  25. Yes, with an updated cockpit.
