Sunset/Sunrise/Moonset/Moonrise/%Illumination
feefifofum replied to BaD CrC's topic in Mission Editor
I'm not sure about the illumination levels but the lunar phases should be accurately modeled by year now. -
You should be able to use the destroy function to remove the static train - https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_func_destroy Last time I tried, which was admittedly some time ago, trains also couldn't be late activated unfortunately. Make sure to do a quick test before you get too deep into scripting something.

You don't need to purchase anything, the Su-33 is part of the FC3 package which you already own. The individually-sold Su-33 standalone module (which is identical to the one included in FC3) is using the new keyless system.

MP Mission: "FOB Vetka"...intense ECAS
feefifofum replied to Joyride's topic in User Created Missions General
I think the new forests may be a significant obstacle for most of Joyride's ops unfortunately. -
The carrier module has been put on indefinite hold per Chizh if memory serves. The Stennis, one of the two planned carriers, has been integrated into DCS 2.5.

Use Russia.

Group AI on/off only applies to infantry and vehicles. Set the group to takeoff from ramp, then check the "uncontrolled" option and use an AI TASK PUSH trigger to start them up when the desired condition is met. (perform command -> start)

You don't without asking the author. ;)

detecting cargo pick up and drop off via lua scripting
feefifofum replied to wolle's topic in Mission Editor
Quick & dirty I believe there is a trigger to check for cargo in a zone; if it's out of the zone it has been picked up, if it's in the next zone it has been dropped off. There's probably a more elegant solution in .lua land but depending on what you're going for that might do the trick. -
Stopping clients spawning at a hostile field
feefifofum replied to tea_cypher's topic in Mission Editor
Search for Ciribob's slot blocking script, it will require some light .lua work on your part but you should be able to achieve the desired effect. -
As a workaround, you can use AI set to "takeoff from ramp" and check the "uncontrolled" box below the skill level menu. This will look like a static plane object (no pilot) and won't take off or perform any task unless issued a "start" command.

Mission Accomplished but Die in the Replay
feefifofum replied to boo_n_817's topic in User Created Missions General
Track replay is very hit-or-miss, as it is not a recording of the actual gameplay events but rather of the control inputs. Fast forwarding does tend to exacerbate replay issues as often at high speeds your system can't keep up with the amount of processing required to crunch the numbers in accelerated time. If you want to review a flight, TacView is a better (and free) option. If you're trying to make videos, it's easier to create small specific events you want to capture vs. replay an entire mission or just act as a dedicated camera man while other people fly. -
I'm not trying to have a tone, I'm just saying the rules regarding the buying and selling of license keys through unofficial sources are very clearly written. Hell, they're displayed at the top of the forum every time you log in. Forum rule 1.12 = Threads and posts pertaining to the selling or trading of "DCS" keys are not allowed.

 Save that title for folks like Grimes, I've just beaten my head against the wall enough to pick up a few things.

Mischievous intent or no, it is a violation of the license agreement you accepted when purchasing the software. Purchasing a lot of that software and/or spending a lot of money with other companies that make peripherals to enjoy it fully doesn't give you the right to violate that agreement. Not my rules, it is how it is...and since licenses are now directly linked to your ED account for many products, as they will be soon for all modules, it's something of a moot point. If you already own a %age of the modules and the bulk package is still a net discount vs. purchasing remaining modules individually, you win...if not, just avoid the package until such time as ED implements gifting modules. Buying a package and giving away your duplicate keys is a generous thought but could also easily be twisted by someone looking to turn a quick buck, and has been in the past. :dunno: As for your agreement with Google, a multimillion dollar company has a little more flexibility in this regard, wouldn't you agree?

 Your turn to answer that one, eh BaD?

Not yet, but datalink is planned for the future. The AWACS crew will report some things to you on their own, but it's a good idea to ask for updates yourself as well if you're heading for a fight.

 Glad you got things working as intended.

Question: play soundfile to unit? Howto?
feefifofum replied to FriedrichNix's topic in Mission Editor
Yeah, you can't fly wing for an AI lead. There's literally no reason for a player wingman slot outside of a multiplayer environment which is where most of this confusion is coming from. You know what that they about assuming things. ;) You can use 3rd party AI balancer scripts to replace entire flights (or single-ship groups) but not individual members of a group. At this time, there's not much reason for a player wingman slot inside of the multiplayer environment either because a number of things exhibit limited functionality especially when it comes to 3rd party scripts. No one's calling you a liar or a fool, but kinda seems like you're expecting folks to walk on eggshells here bud instead of just saying "that doesn't work." -
Selling keys is in violation of the EULA and will get you banned. Discussing the distribution of keys here is also a no-no, though the new keyless DRM ties modules directly to your account. As of right now, there is no way to gift modules, but ED have said hoping to implement this in the future.

The CAP & CAS taskings are essentially a search-then-engage that covers the entire map, so ROE: ONLY DESIGNATED will not affect the AI's behavior if those tasks are still present. ONLY DESIGNATED is also the default ROE setting which is in place unless you change it, adding this as an action will have no effect on their behavior if it's the only ROE action. You -must- delete the default CAS tasking if you want to restrict the flight's attacks to a particular area. Other limitations, such as the aircraft's flight plan and sensor suite, will affect what an AI flight will detect and engage, but if we're talking A-10s they'll find targets at a significant distance.

So I think this was a combination of factors - for starters your AWACS' first waypoint is at 42,000 feet and his second is at 6,000 feet. His orbit is also set to 6,000 feet which means he's going to start diving as soon as the .miz starts. I can't find a quick document showing the exact coverage area of the E-3 but the combination of the dive and the fact that the bandit spawns 36,000 feet more or less directly underneath him are the two factors that are preventing detection in-game. Move your AWACS' orbit over the UAE and set his second waypoint and orbit at the same altitude as his first and he is able to detect the bandit.

It does, but they'll also go after anything else they find outside of the zone.
