Exactly. I can't see how a non-flyable plane could somehow be better than a flyable plane without a working radar.
-
Yes, I agree. Just patch it so we can fly it right now and fix the radar in a later patch. I think many with me just want to get out and fly their favorite plane over Nevada. :-)

I've also noticed this problem. It seems as if the devs have programmed invisible "borders" that prevents you from leaning in really close to look at intruments. And the view gets twitchy when you run inte to border. Overall it makes it very hard to interact with some controls in the cockpit. They should remove these restraints so you could look as close as you want imho.

It also has the most photo-realistic looking cockpit with amazing attention to detail. It comes at a price.

This is amazing news to me. The Viggen will be a day one purchase for sure, and together with a new theater this could very well be the best package yet in DCS. I'm especially excited because the Mig-21 has set the bar so high (both cockpit wise and an amazing flight model). This will be awesome!

I ended up installing it through the updater. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the replies!

Hm, the only button that comes up in the module manager next to Mig-21Bis is the "Buy" button. When I click that button come to the webshop on EDs site where I can buy or download. If i choose to download we're back to the problem in my second post unfortunately.

Overclocked 980? Otherwise VERY good performance on 1440p screen.

Good point. 1920x1200. One monitor.

It seems NTTR is the perfect map for A-10C training missions. It would greatly enhance immersion compared to training over Georgia. Are such missions planned?

Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR
Fred00 replied to Fred00's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just ran 3dMark to make sure everything is okay. The Fire strike test got almost 14,000 in GPU score, which seems to be a good deal over most stock GTX 970s, which is good to know. -

I think your main problem is the graphics card. The GTX 960 is probably too slow to get good fram rates over Vegas. At least on higher settings. -

Still impressed about the guy who got ~70 fps over the strip with a GTX 970. I've posted a new thread where people can post the performance in 2.0. Would be interesting to se a couple more results. -
I have had some problems with low frame rate in 2.0 but it seems to be mostly fixed. It would however be fun to know what you guys get over downtown Las Vegas, so I'll start by posting my results: System: i7-4790K, GTX 980, 16Gb RAM Settings: Maxed out, except for "visibility range" set to "ultra" and MSAA set to 4X. Average FPS: ~65 Minimum FPS: 50 (though mostly not below 55)

Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR

Okay, maybe I have solved the issue. First and foremost, according to GPU-Z my card was running on PCI-Express 1.1. I forced PCI-Express 3.0 (verified by GPU-Z) and after that I got the following improvements: My average fps went from around 35 to 55. My absolute low went from 26 to 40 (though usually it doesn't go below 45). That's around a 55% increase in both average and absolute low fps. I noticed one more important thing: The performance seems to be very dependent on the "visibility range", much more so than other settings. When I lowered "visibility range" just one notch from "extreme" to "ultra" I got the following: Average fps: 65-70 Absolute low: 50 (though usually not below 55) I'm pretty satisfied with this. Everything cranked up except for "visibility range" one step down and the frame rate doesn't go below 50 fps. -

Do you mean it's too slow or that it's something wrong with it? -

There's something very odd going on. Turning MSAA and anisotropic filtering off completely didn't affect performance at all. Something is bottleneckning the system... -
Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR
Fred00 replied to Fred00's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hmm, there's definitely something wrong with my setup then. I just tested again and average is maybe 35 fps with a new low at 26 fps. Looking at a video someone posted on page two in this thread it shows basically 70 fps in an area where my setup gets 35 fps. And that's with a GTX 970 (and same CPU as mine)! Anyone knows what could be wrong? Drivers? -
Okay, I will wait and see. Thanks for the quick replies guys!

Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR

Upgrade complete! Fps went from 9 (lowest seen) to 28 (also lowest I could manage). So a 200% increase. This is at 1080p with everything maxed out except MSAA set at 8x. I think it runs very smooth now except at very low altitudes around the strip. Specs are: i7-4790K, GTX 980, 16Gb RAM. -
Yeah, it doesn't even show up in the editor. I tried to re-install it in the DCS Open Alpha catalog, but the installer says it can't be done because I don't have DCS ver. 1.2 installed.

I can't seem to activate Mig-21 in 2.0. I'm not even promted to put in my key. How can I activate it?

Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR

30 fps in 1.5 seems way too bad with that system. I got a pretty stable 60 fps with a slithtly lower spec graphics card and every setting more or less maxed out. -
Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR
Fred00 replied to Fred00's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I chose the GTX 980. Now atleast I won't have to worry about fram rates anywhere on the map. -
First my system (I know, pretty low spec): Core i3-2100, GTX 660, 8GB RAM. I realized there would be a difference but maybe not that much. In Caucasus near some air field and city I got 55-70 fps (mostly 60-65). Over Las Vegas I get 15-20fps, sometimes up to 25, but over the strip (at low altitude) I actually saw 9 fps. :helpsmilie: Just ordered: Core i7 4970K and 16GB RAM. :) Now I'm just wondering if I should go for the GTX 970 or 980? Does anyone here have the 970? What kind of fps are you seeing around Las Vegas? To clarify, I run more or less everything maxed out at 1920x1200. Running the new glorious NTTR map on low is out of the question. :P
