Never mind, I fixed it. It made a world of difference! The module is much easier to use now!
-
Great, thanks for that! One more question: It says "Access denied" when I try to change the file. How can I get around that?
-
Yes, especially since simulating the harness really doesn't work. You can lean further forward in the computer chair but the screen stops responding and just goes into a "wall". That's just an immersion killer. But I'm thinking the fix must be super easy, either for Belsimtek themselves or for us, if we're just pointed to where we can change it.
-
That sounds great. I would be very grateful if you described how it's done.
-
Yes, I understand that it's probably more realistic to have limited range of movement. But still, I think that this is one area where playability is more important than absolute realism. And it seems ED themselves have come to the same conclusion (seeing how it works in their modules).
-
I just bought the F-5E and realized quickly that it suffers from the same problem as the F-86, and that is a very limited amount of movement in the cockpit before you hit the invisible wall (this applies to TrackIR and VR users obviously). This means that you can't lean in and check gauges and even worse is trying to hunch down to look at switches on the left and right side consoles. I really don't know what purpose these "walls" serve, since EDs own modules are not nearly as restricted. Please Belsimtek fix this, because as it is now it makes the module pretty hard to use. Constantly zooming to check things is not really an option I think.

TrackIR Behavior with 1.5.4 Release
Fred00 replied to Flame's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I get strange TrackIR behavior in version 1.5.4.54855. Head movement in for example the A-10C is quite sluggish to a point where I would have to adjust the curves to compensate. However, the M-2000C is just as snappy as before. Why is there such a big difference between modules (there hasn't been before)? Also, when switching between aircraft TrackIR stops working and the game has to be restarted. -
This thread is kind of related to my other thread about air-to-air tactics. I'm speficically wondering about the situation in the instant action mission "Missiles" (I think it's called). How would a real Mirage pilot tackle the situation presented in this mission? That is, head-on against four bandits (two Mig-29s and two Mig-23s). The reason I'm asking is that it seems like a suicide mission to me (yes, I understand that this is mainly a mission for quick action, but anyway). What would be the correct way to tackle this situation? Would it be to break away and head down into the weeds as soon as you're locked up? Would a real pilot stay long enough to get into firing range of the S530, launch it and then head into the weeds? Then try to reaquire the enemy from below. What do you think?

I'm quite new to air-to-air engagements (having mostly flown the A-10C before) and I have a question. Without a missile warning system, how do you know when a missile has been fired against you? Do you assume that that's the case if the RWR signals that you've been locked up? Even so, how do you know how far off the missile is and (more importantly) when to break and deploy countermeasures? It's all very easy with labels on, but with them off it feels like I'm blind...

Sorry, this thread should have been posted in the M-2000C subforum. Mods, feel free to move it.

I can't seem to cycle waypoints. The INS automatically switches to the next waypoint, and pressing the DEST button just made it revert to waypoint 1 (when I was at waypoint 3). So is it possible to cycle waypoints?

Well, I updated to 1.5.4 and it seems to be working fine now!
-
Ah, then it all makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply! :)

I've just started to get into this bird and I have a couple of questions regarding the start-up procedure. 1) Ignition/ventilation switch: What does this do and what does the different positions do (Vent/left/right). 2) Fuel shut-off valve switch: Manual says to set it in either closed (left) or open (right) position. But what does it do and when is the position of this switch important?
-
I have noticed that some switches move down with a left click on the mouse and others move up with a left click. Is this how it's suppsed to be or is it something that should be fixed?
-
So if I understand you it should be fixed in 1.5.4? That would be great if that's the case!
-
Okay, I had problems with 1.5.4 so had to revert to 1.5.3 again. I suppose the manual I have is pretty much correct then. But I don't know where I read about 160 pages...
-
I just bought the M-2000C and the manual I found in the Doc folder is 118 pages. I read somewhere that the manual should be some 160 pages. Is my version the latest one?
-
I just bought the module and didn't know about this problem. It veers to the left like crazy on the instant action "Take-off". This happens both in NTTR and Caucasus (1.5.3). Seeing that this has been discussed since december without a solution makes me a bit sad. I really hope this will be resolved soon since it's kind of a game breaker.

Thanks for the replies. What I have realized is that a good campaign is maybe the most important thing for a module. Therefore the fact that Baltic Dragon is doing the campaign for the M-2000C is a big plus. It's most likely going to be awesome. :-)

As the title reads, how many modules do you fly consistently? Just one? Two? More? Personally I've flown the A-10C as my main module for the last 18 months (when I first got into DCS). However I've also flown some Mig-21 and F-86 in between. Variety is quite nice since I don't want to fly the A-10C every time. The last couple of weeks I have realized that I want to fly more modern planes. The F-86 and Mig-21 are awesome but really hard to use effectively because of lack of modern navigation systems and avionics. DCS is already a hard game even with the more advanced systems offered in the more modern planes. Also I really want to focus on modules with high quality campaigns. I have decided to test the M-2000C as my 2nd module and then Leathernecks AJS-37 as my new 3rd module when it arrives. Three modules might be a bit much, especially with limited time for this hobby, but there are too many good modules coming! When the F-18 comes the A-10C will probably go in favor for it. Problem is I'm also interested in the F-14... So how do you think and what modules do you plan to focus on in the next 1-2 years?
-
Whenever I fly the Mig-21 in 2.0 a green window is displayed showing stick movement, rudder etc. Why is this suddenly shown as default and how do I get rid of it? I have tried ctrl + enter and it doesn't work.

Announcement - new A-10C DLC training campaign
Fred00 replied to baltic_dragon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I will definitely buy this. The stock training missions do what they should, that is teach you how to operate the aircraft. However, they are very sterile and doesn't feel like real life training. I really like the idea of making the training feel more alive and real. This may very well set a new standard of how we think of training missions! -
Thanks for the reply. I must say that it is painfully hard to get the bombs to drop where you want. This module is much more difficult than the A-10C, but much more rewarding when you get everything right. :)
-
Do I set the sight to "Bomb" or "Gun" for manual bombing? The manual says "Gun" but I've seen "Bomb" used in Youtube tutorials. "Bomb" mode gives a fixed pipper that moves up and down on the HUD when rotating the dive angle dial. "Gun" mode gives a moving reticle and it seems hard to use when bombing...
