  1. I found these very helpful On speed AoA: Case 1 recovery: Grim Reapers Tutorials for F/A-18C: Carrier landing takes a ton of practice. Case 1 is probably the hardest thing to master in the Hornet. I can refuel from an S-3 now but I still get a lot of bolters and failing grades from the LSO during Case 1 recovery. I would much rather do a Case 3 at night and have 20 miles to get everything right than have 18 seconds to not kill myself on a Case 1 day pattern.

  3. I think Kaba may have used some kind of text to speech program for Cage the Bear. Might be worth experimenting with if you really want to add voice overs. I'm 3 missions in and the quality of the writing is top notch. I really appreciate that there is a strong narrative and more to do than go to waypoint 2 and blow stuff up. It's also very instructive and teaching me how to fly the F-14 better. Also the refueling "checkpoint" is brilliant.
  4. Flew the first 2 missions and really enjoying it so far. I also encountered an issue with not getting credited for my "landing" on mission 2. I successfully completed the CAP and was cleared back to the carrier. I then proceeded to ignore a wave-off and got a snide remark from Jester once I came to a halt. Didn't get a grade at all from the LSO. I quit the mission and had a score of 50. I fixed the issue by editing my pilot log so I can move on but next time I'll check the score before I exit and fly a quick Cat and Trap to get credit if I don't have 100 points. Also Haven't seen any chatter from GasCan. I've got my pilot radio set to 1 and he takes orders but no messages from him. Am I missing something? Flying SC version in stable release.
  5. Looks great. If I switch from cold start to "takeoff from parking hot" in the mission editor, will that screw up the timing of events in the missions?
  6. In the current stable version wingmen will not drop GBU-10 or GBU-31 bombs at night when assigned to attack map objects in the mission editor. Changing the time from 23:00 to 12:00 in the mission editor results in a successful attack. Night and day track files using GBU-10 attached. Night Attack Failure.trk Day Attack Success.trk
  7. Before you would just select the precision strike or groung attack role and under waypoint options select perform task and attack map object. Put the triangle on the map object and they would hit it. In current stable I can't get wingmen to drop ordinance with the attack map object command. Perform task then "bombing" works but if you have multiple targets, each wingman hits the same target before proceeding to the next one. Attack unit under the CAS role works fine, wingman two will hit target 1, three will hit target 2, and four will hit 3. It's great but only works for ground units, not map objects, unless you put an infantryman on top of a building... I wish they would fix this or someone would tell me what I'm doing wrong.

  10. Can you manually adjust the level and gain in the F18? The switches at the corner of the DDI don't seem to do anything right now.
  11. Flying Stable 2.5.6.49798 and I'm having the same problem with the FLIR in WHT mode. I've found a work around though. I put my FLIR image on the AMPCD (bottom display) and it's much easier to see. The image doesn't get blown out (even by fire and smoke) and the text overlay is always legible. The only problem is, I can't switch to ATRK or PTRK from the AMPCD, that only works with the left or right DDI. Still, I can get business done without the new tracking modes.
  12. I've had DCS crash on me in the F10 screen a couple of times after issuing orders to friendly units in the F10 view. Haven't had any crashes so far if I let friendly units do their thing and avoid assigning them new targets or orders to stop attacking or move orders. Thanks for picking this project up, Khopa. I've really been enjoying it and DCS is sorely in need of campaigns like this.
  13. I get the "Your flight is delayed to start, please wait." message and wingmen will not take off from the Stennis with a flight of 4 in hot start missions. Occurs in the stock mission Magnum force. I created a mission in the editor with a flight of 2 and the problem did not occur. I then increased the size of my flight to 4 and got the message on takeoff, all three wingmen sat at their catapults until I exited the mission.
  14. Bug: Game Avionics overlay "radar" no longer appears when flying FC3 aircraft.

  16. Is it possible to import campaigns from LOMAC or FC1.12a into FC3? I tried opening the old campaigns from the DCS Wold Campaign editor but no dice.
  17. It is a text file called "error" and is located in the "temp" folder. It gets overwritten each time I run BS.   18. I haven't had any problems but I noticed that I get a new error.txt file in the tmp folder every time I run Blackshark. Is this normal or should I reinstall?
  19. I don't know if other people mouse left handed, but it makes my life easier.
  20. I've been flying full real with a Force Feedback2 for a while and it's been great. Here's a tip: program one button (I use number 8 ) as a modify button and you can program twice as many functions to your stick. Get a Track IR! It makes a world of difference. Get Track IR and learn to mouse left handed so you don't have to take your hand off the stick. It will take a little practice, but you will get used to it.
  21. WoW. The control you have is amazing. What autopilot settings did you use for that? Is FD mode on?
  22. I found a brute force way to turn the icons off in easy avionics mode. Find the file arcade_template_hud.lua in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\ARCADE and rename it. This will remove the target icons but it also disables labels. I'm sure you can get rid of the icons without breaking labels by editing the file but I'm not the guy that's gonna figure that one out ;-) Some people on these forums are offended that an "arcade mode" was included. I for one enjoy flying in game mode with a gamepad and trackir. Right now my time is very limited and this way I can enjoy the tactical aspect of the sim without the huge time investment.
  23. Before I go to the trouble of setting up a second monitor for Shkval I would like to know what kind of performance hit I'll be taking. I'm running on a Core2 E4600 with Nvidia 8800gt and 2 gigs of ram. Has anyone with a similar system tried dual monitor and what kind of performance did you have?
  24. Because the Fast Battle Planner won't generate air to ground missions?
  25. My camera view angle limits have 3 numbers for each aricraft. I have no idea why.
